Looking to buy a new car in the not to distant future. I currently own a jzx110 and an s15, and while I love both cars the 2 regos and insurances are starting to feel wasteful now I have purchased a house.
The s15 is highly modified and being a older Japanese car it's not super refined plus gets a lot of police attention. The jzx110 nice, but you still know you're in a bigger car.
I'm basically thinking of jumping onto the dark side, a euro. I'm thnking about selling both cars in favour of buying one nice car.
Thinking of getting the a mk7 Golf R. Seems to tick all the boxes, smallish, quick especially with stage 2+, practical because it's a hatch with 4 doors, and relatively new so will be easy to find a well looked after example.
Would this be a good choice? Anything inherently bad about the mk7 R? I'm basically looking for something more refined, practical, unassuming but still fun to drive.
Any other recommendations welcome.

The AWD system is anything but sporty.
>>16504221
Seems fine, as long as you either buy CPO or don't get suckered into paying over sticker on a new one
>>16504264
Won't be buying new, will wait unit they drop to around the 40k mark as I plan to pay for it in cash.

Please explain? I know it's not true AWD like an evo or the like, but I still thought they performed rather well on the track?
Should I get my car out of impound or just leave it? It's a 1995 mercedes s500 sedan, front bumper cover is messed up, one side mirror is broken, front leather seat is ripped, some interior paneling and the center console is fucked up from when the cops searched it, scratches all over the paint and sun faded paint, 160k miles, sometimes doesn't start right away I believe it's the battery connections, they want $700 to get it out of impound. Should I just leave the thing and get a new car or get it out? I'm really fucking tired of this car and every time something breaks a replacement part is expensive and labor is expensive if it's something I can't do. It's $50 worth of oil per oil change and it burns up the oil. One in better condition with less miles went for 1080 on eBay and to get it in good condition just a new bumper cover costs $200 and no junk yard has this model of car. If you were me would you pay the $700 to get it out and have a working car for cheap or drop a few gs and get a more reliable and fuel efficient car that is cheaper to get parts for? Or get it out and try to sell it for more than 700? Or they said I could get stuff out of it at the tow yard. So I was thinking maybe go there strip everything valuable out of it and tell them to keep it.
>$700 to get it out of impound
Jesus fucking christ OP what did you do?
>>16504143
From the sounds of it either a DWI/DUI
Based on the sound of the car either a repeat offender or just a mechanically disinclined NEET
Why was your car impounded?
Is it really that hard to not park illegally?
What are some nice, reliable decent mileage used cars with comfy interiors for $3-5k?
ah man right in the feels...
Miss the days of wololololol

>Rogan?
You have a budget of 10k USD. Your aim is to get a used car and make it a beast. And no you cant use some of the money and spend the rest on crack.
What do you get and why?
Pic unrelated
Get s13 for like 4k
Get 1k In coilovers
Get some shitty wheels for 1k
Get tires for $500
Spend the rest on a 1jzgte swap
buy an H2 and laugh when the 10.5's trail behind me
Honda Civic with K24 swap because it will always win.
What is the best sounding car ever made, and why is it the LFA?
https://youtu.be/M6VP65jg6F4
Sound is subjective. far too many fucking people loose their shit over it especially when you DARE post engines you think sound good.
I think the new GT sounds meh but other people (alphonse) think it sounds good.
with all that shit out the way https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7LmMzWNHFA

I want to learn about engines by building one from the ground up. What should I do? I have a 7th gen with a D17 that's perfectly fine, so don't tell me to do one for my car.
How about a Nissan L28 and then find a Z car roller?

*7th gen Civic

Buy a tercel and use ebay parts
you have the entire internet at the tip of your fingertips and you decided to ask on a Cantonese model boat building forum
start on nicoclub or any other nissan/datsun forum
Why is the Integra DC2 held up as one of the gold standards of an FF "sports car" and if they were why don't they make them anymore?
good shit in a good shit chassis
currently i'd say the good FF 'sports car' is the FiST/FoST
>>16503580
Were these cars sold in the states? were they or were they not anally violated by the Cobalt SS and/or Neon ACR?
>>16503603
In a straight line yeah but I don't think any of their N/A variants were equal to the mean little 1.8 the integra packed for most of it's life
What car this is?
ferrero rocher
shitboxetti culo 010
bodykit with a fiero
I live out in West Texas, where all of the roads are straight and long. When considering this, what's a fun car to get that isn't a muscle car?
On roads like that fun isn't allowed.
get a prerunner or buggy and go offroad
>>16503474
Get a liter bike.
Best drift car around $5k or less?
would like my next car to be a race/drift car
need it to be
>fun
>reliable
>safe
>fuel efficiency is a plus
was looking at the 97 Miata but from what I've read it's quite unsafe
so I'm now thinking
>AE86
>MR2
>240sx
but getting official saftey ratings on cars like these is hard af
open to suggestions
>>16503317
You're gonna be removing the steering wheel so i don't understand why safety is your biggest concern. Also it's not like you're going to be drifting at super high speeds, so an impact isn't going to do much more than crack a bumper
BTW be careful with mr2s, some early models don't have power steering, and they're prone to snap oversteer
>reliable
Lel good luck mate
>>16503317
>>16503350
ik this is a lot to ask but If it can be a daily driver, that'd be preferable, if possible
>made in the same year
And yet the american land yacht is far more comfier and reliable.
One was made for literal decades because it was that good, the other one gets replaced every 5 years.
>>16503212
old people dont care about styling and just if the seats dont make their arthritis act up or some shit
The miata is the worst car I've ever seen
I agree.
I really don't like the way it looks either. It's like it is laughing at me.
How can I convince my parents to let me purchase a 25GT R34? I'm an 18 year old about to start University and I live with my parents. I've been working for 3 years now and I've got $14,000 saved up. The car I want to buy is $12,000.
Although it's entirely my money, my parents aren't allowing me to get it (it's stupid, I know). They keep going on about how the odometer has been rolled back, and how every one of these R34s has been owned by a 20 something year old who drove the car around like an idiot.
I don't want some sedan or hatchback. I just want a coupe R34 that I've been saving up 3 years for. Please give me some arguments I can use against them.
>>16503091
Since its your money it teaches you responsibility and would be an important life lesson for you when probably inevitably crash it into a university building
>>16503091
It's smarter to go to Uni and then by an r34 with the money you'll make after graduating.
>>16503091
This is retarded and you're retarded but in all honesty if it's a jap import (I'm assuming you're an ausfag P plate scum) it's very likely to have been rolled back. Also they're ugly cars, the GT isn't fast, cops will rape your asshole 24/7 and you won't even have an interesting or unique vehicle for all the trouble.
On top of that, what have your parents got to do with it? If you're living at home i think it's perfectly acceptable to live under their rules, move out with that money instead and you'll likely be a lot happier.
