What's the worst book of all time?
probably something influenced by anime.

Your diary, desu.

I think you're mistaken. What you posted is a postmodern masterpiece that deconstructs the entire anime subculture without the author even intending to do so. Its the single greatest philosophy book ever written to convert surface level anime fans. The "story" if you could call it that, is so contrived, so shitty, so gut-wrenchingly awful that it parodies itself and loops around into being a cult classic. Anyone who otherwise considers anime a "guilty pleasure" could read it and realize how shit their favorite medium is. Only the deepest, most corrupted of weebs could shrug it off.

>The Canterbury Tales

Could /lit/ help me find some more story within a story books? Unsurprisingly, goodreads is absolute shit and I couldn't get it to recommend this type of book.

If on a winter's night a traveler by Calvino
Wuthering Heights
Chimera, by Barth
Already read If on a winter's night a traveler, I should've specified I wanted it closer to the format of the Canterbury Tales. As in there's a few characters and they each tell a story.

kekkek. Say what you will, she made serious bank with her covers. It's such a bad fault in our culture that are doesn't need to be good to be spread anymore, it just needs to be obnoxious enough that people talk about it lots.

If nothing is real then why does it spontaneously seem so?
Because our brains are fucking amazing.
Because the concept of realness only exists in language to describe the consistency of your delusion.

So I've decided to backpack. I'm from BR hue and I'll be backpacking to europe. I've never done it before, so I'm having multiple feelings ranging from anxiety to orgasmic-on-the-road-happiness.
So, what books should I take? Walden and The Catcher in The Rye is already in my bag, and I'm also taking Fleurs du Mal. I'd like to take more european books rather than american ones, since I'm visiting the latter. And sadly, I can't seem to find Swann's Way.
There's this polish film I watched, "All These Sleepless Nights". It got me inspired as hell. All the nightlife and living and spontanous kerouac-esque scenes got me going. And now I'm thirsty for this. You guys should check it out. I'd like to find more travel and bohemian books.
Any suggestions?
Peace out

More like buttpack, right? You should go to Morocco, I hear the dicks is big there.

If you're content reading in English, don't even bring many books with you, just buy them over there.

Sorry for making it unclear.
I'm looking for book which will sort of guide me how do i find my life purpose. How do i work on myself? Just some directions. I realize that i won't find my life purpose IN books but in myself. I just need some guides how to find it in myself.
I hope that makes any sense

Is William Vollmann any good? I'm thinking about reading Europe Central or You Bright and Risen Angels on winter break, but which one is the best entry point?
I can write better than that hack, tbqh.
He sounds like he's just the Frank Miller of /lit/ but many have respect, however distant, for his work as a whole. Haven't heard from the Dying Grass again but it was all praise when it came out.

Europe Central is probably bretty good to start.
Adam & Eve are created as lords of wisdom and lords of the world.
Only one rule is placed before them: to avoid their own death.
The serpent, however, claims that their natural, selfish, free existence is incomplete, illegitimate, evil. Rather, the only way to true knowledge of good and evil is by subjugating their desires to his.
For, he claims, if they undergo the asceticism and martyrdom of eating the fruit they know will kill them, they will in fact not die, but receive some as-yet unknowable true blessedness & godliness.
But the serpent has lied. Adam & Eve, by rejecting the wisdom of the body, are made into slaves, ashamed of themselves.
It must amuse the serpent to have his modern victims think they're cleverer than their ancient parents, as they make the same mistake attempting to rectify the original even as the warning is right in front of them.
