Settle this for me /k/

Is this a three or four round grouping.

Both looked doubled to me but shooting buddy argued it was only three, two in the lower and only one in the upper.

The upper hole looks way to big for one .223 to me.

Also there was a guy Mexican carrying at the range today.

the top hole are two side by side but close
ehat is the problem you have with Mexican?
>>
>>34744714

Thanks for agreeing with me.

As for your question.
The range had a near fatal ND a while back and it's cold range/no funs unless at firing line.

mexi-carry is a ban-able offense.

i see nothing wrong here
if some idiot shoots himselfe the world becomes a better place

Is there a difference between 556 in a 16 inch barrel vs a 20"?

I know that the 20 inch gives it around 200 extra fps, but im wondering specifically about bullet deformation/fragmentation. Is one better than the other, and does it really matter?

I have the option to buy a 20" barrel freedom fighter fully assembled, however I already have a 16" ar. Not sure if these rounds are strong enough

I know there's a good chart somewhere showing rough fragmentation chances relative to velocity on regular fmj copper platedammo. (steel jackets probably hold together much better) And you can extend that fragmentation distance with that 20" barrel.
I shoot 556 out of a 23.3in barrel and I'll tell you right now that that extra velocity makes 556/223 melt through my hardened steel infinitely better than even steel cored(non AP) 762x54r at 100 yards. That 54r can't even do more than slightly dent it.
I don't have a 16" 556 gun to compare with, but that "should" knock it's velocity more in line with the 545x39 I'm shooting. And that can't penetrate my hardened steel, even with 7n6 ammo. It does better vs my thinner hardened steel than lead core 545, but still not much difference.
>>
>>34744555
20 inch is more better for the same ammo
>>
>>34744555
Massive. I have a 16 in sig m400 that's good. But my ar I built with a 20 in free floated fluted barrel can outshoot it by a lot

Give me an honest rundown on this guy?

Is he a legit operator or just a poser who read too many Soldier of Fortune magazines.

Hey /k/, recent transition to /hasguns/ here. Is there a point to steel jackets on bullets? Does it do anything other than make the range want you not to use them?

I think its cheaper to produce, or at least easier for Russia. Probably puts more wear on your barrel too.
>>
>>34744426
Cost less. Wear a barrel out faster. Penetrate with less deformation

So I was playing Dishonored and came to wonder whether their bullets are plausible. Do refer to the image for how they look and work.

Is there any irl oil that could actually create enough explosive force to propel a bullet at lethal speeds? I really doubt it, then what other substances/compounds, liquid or not, would be capable of that? I'm genuinely curious

There are some oils that could probably do it. But we never use them because it's too hard.

Unlike the whale oil in Dishonored (which works like pretty much a more well behaved nitroglycerin) IRL oils would need a mechanism to inject air and then ignite the oil. This would lead to a huge delay on the time between pulling the trigger and firing and also add a HUGE ammoun of complexty to the fire mechanism. I would be pretty much a car engine, with the bullets being disposable pistons that a changed evey time the fuel is ignited.

What's the point of the Panzer III? Why not just make two version of the Panzer IV, one with low caliber high velocity gun and other model with high caliber low velocity gun?

Yes.

Is destroying entire floors with one shell autistic? As a tank destroyer it's probably autistic. As an assault gun? I'd love to have it supporting my troops in Stalingrad.

During 1942, the call was sent out in Germany to design a new anti-tank SPG. This artillery gun was to mount a massive 30,5cm howitzer motar cannon and to be based off of the Tiger II chassis. During 1943, the Krupp company proposed the development of the Sturmpanzer Bär (Bear) to meet these requirements.

The Sturmpanzer Bär had a layout resembling previous German mobile artillery guns, with a large, open-air, rear mounted superstructure. The gun of choice was a 305mm KwK L/16 anti-tank cannon, capable of firing almost 12,000 yards away from the tank. The Sturmpanzer Bär, having been based on the Tiger II, also shared the Tiger II’s sloped frontal armor layout, although weakened, at 130mm of armor on the front. This, combined with the large gun and casemate, gave the Sturmpanzer Bär a whopping 120 tons of bulk.

The Sturmpanzer Bär’s gun was rigidly-mounted, with the load system projecting to the rear of the tank. It could be elevated from 0 to 70 degrees, and had storage rooms for 10 rounds. Every 305mm round weighted 770 pounds and had approximately 1/7th of the round taken up by explosive charge. The massive weight of the bullet allowed a pitiful reload rate, making missing with this tank painful.

The new Sturmpanzer was to have a 12-cylender Maybach HL 230 P30 powerplant that produced 700 horsepower. Later designs were stated to have supercharged versions of this engine, with one proposing to switch to a 1050 horsepower engine. This gave the Sturmpanzer sluggish maneuverability and speed, making it both a large target and a slow one at that.
The Sturmpanzer Bär had to be operated by a crew of six – The commander, two loaders, gunner, driver, and radio operator. It was supposed to be equipped with a mechanically assisted load system but this was never put into circulation.
Although the Sturmpanzer Bär never did leave the drawing board, it did influence many other SPG designs, including the Sturmtiger.

The Planetary Protection Officer's job is to make sure US Spacecraft are sterilized when they land on other worlds to prevent biological contamination, which would ruin efforts to try and find life and possibly destroy what life might presently exist. The PPO isn't protecting us from them; they're protecting them from us.
