Why does the US Coastguard use Eurocopter aircraft when literally every single other branch uses Sikorsky?

Because they took the best deal that met their requirements, and that just happened to be one submitted by Eurocopter at the time of acquisition.
>>
>>34771403
>Sikorsky
Dirty fucking monopolists and lobbying bastards
The least they could do is take Kaman up on their offers and get some sickass itermeshing rotor designs int here that literally do everything better than these tailrotor garbage cans
>>

Better product and lobbying power of Texan and Mississippian politicians.

Maybe the ducted tail rotor provides some benefits other than lower noise for USCG operations?

Just speculating, not sure.
>>
>>34771403
The USCG version has always been made by American companies with Lycoming engines.

Dunno why it was selected specifically, perhaps the big selling point was its quite advanced autopilot for the 80s (auto-hover and flying in search patterns).

Because US Coast Guards need reliable equipment and the 'economic patriotism' is not an option. Reliable in the sense that it must fulfill very exactly their needs.
>>
USCG AET here. It's cause we got them super fucken cheap. The same reason we took all the C-27 out of the boneyard even though we don't have any facing radar's for them

Coast Guard has that aesthetic paintjob though.

>tfw no hyper militarized America where the US solar empire has dozens of redundant independent branches all armed to be their own military superpower, so like the Coast Guard having its own military bases and aircraft carriers.

This response is unacceptable buy 4chan standards. It is too simple and too reasonable.

For future reference your responses to questions asked here on 4chan must meet at least two of the following criteria:

1. Insults the Op.
2. Insults at least one nation, race, or ethnicity.
3. Invokes at least one conspiracy theory.
4. Lists endless reams of data until it causes tldr.
5. Contains a minimum of 35% profanity.
6. Baits enough other posters into a shit storm that deraills the thread.

Please make note of your errors and try harder on the future.

How hard would it be to weld two Gerald R. Ford-class carriers together to form this?

Would there be a lot of (read: unmanageable) torsional loads? Does anyone know how much an aircraft carrier actually moves due to waves and such?

Except loads of DHS operations use Sikorskys, namely CBP.

Plus USCG is still a branch of the armed forces.

I'd say it should be the other way around.

I mean japs being a superior westernized modern country aside, I never really bought why they considered themselves a different race than the chinks.

I mean for fucks sake why do the asians think they all look the same? The same cavemen walked and made boats to claim all that prime island real estate.

Oh well, their beef with each other is the CIA's dream. Good way to keep the Pacific theater under control.

No, the United States Coast Guard is a uniformed service. Along with the NOAA commissioned officers corps and the Public Health Service commissioned officers corps.
