Some info on the stupid bullpup:
AR-15 reciever, M4 barrel, 5.56 NATO in a banana clip, slides in like pic related. Adjustable stock and cheekrest, built-in front ironsights, adjustable, replaceable and very uncomfortable flip-up rear ironsights, MP5-style charging handle, lots of picatinny rails except where you need them.

So a buddy and I have been debating whether you could use a ring-mounted M203 in tandem with a suppressor, specifically the KAC Light Arms Suppressor from the 80s and early 90s (the same type used by Sgt. Gary Gordon in the film Black Hawk Down) on the CAR-15 family, specifically the M733, M723, and the M653.
He is under the impression that such a combination would not be possible because the ring-mounting on the M203 would block the suppressor's mount as well.
Can any of you confirmed whether or not this is true? Pictures demonstrating this would be a great help.
Pic is semi-related
Wait what?
Put the launcher on first ya dingus.
>>29465300
Not as helpful of a response as I had hoped.
But...
>>29465325
It's really not as complicated as it you may think. As long as the 203 is put on first, there shouldn't be a problem with a suppressor. The mount doesn't go that far forward.
Why head restraints aren't used in military planes?
do they hate safety?
>>29465210
how does a pilot look around if he can't turn his fucking head
>>29465216
Not OP but you can look ahead, it just prevents your head from snapping forwards in a crash.
Though I can't see many instances where you're going to take a front or side collision in a fighter aircraft where you haven't already ejected or are dead from the force of impact anyway...
>>29465216
>>29465268
more important might be that it protects your neck from the weight of the helmet at high g's, also, do you really need to look anywhere else than forwards in a modern jet?
restarting the black powder thread.
Talk about cap 'n ball guns.

Are there many laws regarding these sorts of revolvers? Do you still need a CC permit? I'm thinking of getting one when I go to the US.
>>29465333
Can't say about the US, as I live in Europe, but here there are no permits required (Poland), and no regulations regarding carry - you can technically carry pic related (a whole different story if you actually use it against someone).
In Poland, you can buy these on the internet even, delivered to your dooor, just need an ID proving you are an adult (18+ here), then you need to apply for a weapons card (need a photo, bill of sale of a BP weapon, and about $30 fee for issuing the document) to buy powder (or go south to Chech Republic, or Slovakia).
>>29465365
aaaaand I forgot to post the picture.
Why does day/k/are have such a hate for revolvers?
Every day I see the same thread asking if recolvers are viable in todays world or just stating that revolvers have no relevance in the modern day.
They fire just fine
They kill criminals
They are fun and attractive
I know a bunch of these guys are nogunz that use hearsay and watch bullshit "tactical" videos on why they should carry a glock 18 at all times and carry 3 extended mags at all times. Though most of the time they're just kids with oberpriced knives that think they belong on this board because they think they know a lot about firearms despite never having used one.
What can we do /k/?
>>29464898
I love revolvers but you have to admit they are beyond outdated. Anything below a .44mag has a semi-auto that is comparable and superior in capacity and ease of reloading.
I do enjoy having my .44mag with a speedloader on my nightstand or when I'm in the woods however.
good revolvers are more expensive and cumbersome than their automatic counterparts, which are equally reliable, easier to use and have greater capacity
revolvers are antiquated weapons that aren't appreciated by /k/, simply because most /k/ommando's have no money or taste.
i've never met anyone irl who had even a remotely similar opinion of revolvers as the average /k/uck
>>29464914
See
This is the mentality I'm talking about
It's not some black powder gun
It's not a musket
It's a double action with the same capability to kill as a semi auto.
Thats like saying a full auto handgun makes semi autos obsolete, because of the rate of fire. One feature doesn't make a gun obsolete, it just makes it more advanced.
>left handed
>right eye dominant
should I just kill myself? I think I should just kill myself
>>29464658
How about I trade my eye for yours and then I can be right handed and right eye dominant.
>>29464658
Translation: I've never held a gun
>>29464663
wow rude desu
School me on the USP. Is the DA/SA on them good compared to a Sig with an SRT?
Probably not but it's an overall better pistol to the sigs in my opinion.
>>29464657
>plastic
>>29464657
Sandy, thanks for the input. I'm considering on picking one up if a 9mm police trade in comes my way.
I might get it in a .40 despite not liking that caliber if it's low enough like $350
Anyone here ever had an idea for a firearm's operating system (either entirely new or a modification of an existing design) but didn't have any idea how to test it out to see if it's actually viable?
I'm in that situation right now. My idea isn't anything revolutionary and may (probably) has been done but I want to try it out and see if it would actually work. Any suggestions?
BTW I only have shitty sketches of the idea currently as it was kind a a eureka moment for me so I just drew something really quick to not let me forget it.
Are there computer programs that could do a preliminary function test on the design?
Pic unrelated.
Sketchup or blender
Describe it.
>>29464541
Basically it's just capturing the bcg within its buffer spring, you could throw it in an AR system and it would eliminate the need for the buffer tube, thus making bullpup ARs very possible.
Will skethup be able to function test the design at all?
>>29464513
I wish i had those problems.
My genious is....limited.
Plastic milk jug moon clips worked in my revolver long enough to shoot my wifes ammo.
I think i might make a slamgun for .22 and mount it as the tip of an atlatl some time.
Fucking firing systems...
Ugly/bizarre guns thread?
>>29464442
It may be ugly, but I'd still fuck it.

come to cali or new york and youll get used to it
What is keeping us from developing a handheld railgun/gauss rifle? I'm guessing electricity storage?
>>29464421
Basically. People make them in their garages as a hobby.
>>29464421
>handheld railgun
Power source and the fact that the rails will melt after one or two shots.
>gauss rifle
Power source.
That and it wouldn't function any better than what we have. Its all good and well to ballistically outperform our current firearms tech, but when that comes at the expense of practicality, reliability and longevity, it isn't worthwhile IMO. Chemical is simply a far more efficient way of storing energy, so powder isn't going anywhere any time soon.
ITT we incrementally post more dangerous weapons. (Your post should only be slightly better than the one above it)
>You Fudds better not start posting ARs straight away.

I know this is a hot button issue regarding firearms, but why does it seem that many of the 'old school' manufacturers are cheapening their product so much lately? Remington, Marlin, S&W, Charter, Colt, and others all seem to be going down the shitter when it comes to making a decent product. In some instances (ahem, R31), it seems like they've actually managed to unlearn 70 years of expertise when it comes to design/materials. I'm aware that many of these companies have gone through similar periods of quality control issues, but really never all at the same time; I'm still blown away by how a 1950 pre-model 10 compares to a 2002+ production. The recent ones feel like a cheap imitation of the original, as if they've given up entirely. Hell, even the cheap saturday night special guns like Iver Johnson still had pretty good fit and finish.
It's obvious that these companies are struggling financially (or have already been acquired by other firms/conglomerates), but what is the root cause of their woes? International trade? Poor investments? How difficult can it be to make a product that was already perfected decades ago? Also, I want your opinion on the actual quality, too: am I just showing my biases and overreacting here, or is it a legitimate complaint? What companies (new or old) do you feel still have the 'spirit' with them when it comes to making a good product?
>>29464372
'spirit'
walther
fn
steyr
BCM
arsenal
benelli
i like cz and mossberg too but i know some people will cry about their finish
Marlin actually got bought out by a company that's turned the quality around. Anything 2015 or newer is as good as their old stuff.
Most of these fucks are making money hand over fist, look at the stock prices of S&W over the last 10 years. It's justill a continuation of assembly line consumerism. People say the exact same thing about cars, boots, power tools, etc.
The thing is, people just don't want to pay for nice stuff. You want a nice new revolver? Buy a Freedom Arms. But it's going to cost you $2500. Dame with boots. Go to any sears, walmart, etc, and you'll see $50 pairs of boots all day. None of those are going to last more than a few months. Quality professional level stuff has been relegated to a specialty low volume niche market.
Is this right?
The only 9mm I own is a highpoint the fuck do I care lmao
>>29464249
Shoot enough and you will find there is very little difference between any commercially manufactured ammo.
Homemade reloads on the other hand....
Hey 4chan, I'm looking to buy a new handgun. My price range is 0-5000. I would prefer a conceal carry hand gun but also want some power to it. Any help?
>>29463909
just buy any of the poly wonder pistols
glocks
m&ps
sigs
what ever. if you honestly don't know what the popular carry pieces are then we can't help you.
>>29463909
>>29463909
>5000
damn, for that you can get some serious ass shit
Let's say you and your squad is surrounded by muslim soldiers.
All of your ammo is depleted, but then you find an old stash of german WW2 weapons and ammo.
What are your odds against more advanced weapons like the AK-47, AK-74 and other variants???
Can old weapons like Kar 98 penetrate through body armors?
>>29463726
Level IV plates? With shitty surplus 8mm, probably not. Initially, anyway. Keep shooting the same plate with anything and you'll break it eventually.
The Mauser fires an 8mm cartridge, which is more powerful than .50 BMG. So yes, it will penetrate armor.
>>29463726
>you find an old stash of german WW2 weapons and ammo.
It's been known to happen.
>What are your odds against more advanced weapons like the AK-47, AK-74 and other variants???
With modern western training and tactics? Maybe 50/50 assuming you were actually somehow familiar with the weapons you just found. Really you'd be fucked.
>Can old weapons like Kar 98 penetrate through body armors?
No more than any modern caliber.
