Can't decide /k/, help me.
Worth it? Gorgeous gun but don't have anywhere that rents them. Any of you own one?
For HD/SHTF. Also looking at M&P, maybe Glock 17.
>>29449733
You can't go wrong with a Glock 17, except that you could have gotten a Glock 19 instead.
I don't know much about the P30L but they have a great resale value that exceeds the price of a NIB Glock, so I'd just buy that, and if you don't like it, you can sell it and get a Glock 19 instead.
Yes, I'm aware you said Glock 17. You want a Glock 19, you just don't know it yet. Unless you're Canadian, in which case, sorry.
I've got one. Its a great gun but it takes some getting used to the LEM trigger.
Honestly if you're not willing to put the effort and money into shooting it enough to familiarize yourself with it then just get a VP9, or a USP with a nice DA/SA trigger. The P30's DA/SA isn't as good as the USP's.
>>29449733
I'd go with the regular P30 over the L, but I've never been big on long slides.
I'd also go with a VP9 over either to be honest. And while the LEM trigger is nice, it's also kind of weird and it's definitely a trigger that takes time and practice to get used to and maintain a skill level with, keep that in mind as you can find a lot of information about it online.
I've owned an M&P and a Glock, I'd say stick with Glock and go with a 19, but the 17 is fine too if you need a full size for whatever reason.

They'd buy their Nuggets new from the factory.
Did you ever see army of darkness?
We had some great discussion a while back. Since there's no new military acquisition right now, let's just have a general discussion regarding the AFP.
Front line troops already issued with body armor
Contrary to the myth, AFP do have substantial amounts of anti armor weapon (like this one and the ones in >>29449511 picture)

Why do snipers still use bolt action rifles? Wouldn't a semi-automatic be a lot quicker to use?
They are more accurate at longer ranges
>>29449179
For what raisin?
>>29449184
Semi auto use some of the force of the bullet going off to push the action back therefore decreasing it's range. Also have a bolt forces you to take your time lining up a shot

can we have a pro guns and freedom, laughing at gun grabbers thread? I just got out of class and had to sit through an hour of "you don't NEED that unless you want to shoot up an elementary school :>)" from one of my professors. The only saving grace is 3/4 are apparently pro gun and fought her and a handful of students on it the whole time.

that happened to me once. Went into a fairly liberal school when gun control is brought up, I sit back waiting for the rage and as it turns out most of the class is ok with guns and thinks acting laws are retarded
this was is new York too
>>29449455
There's like 12 million gun owners in NY state. We beat out most midwestern states in terms of sheer number of owners, but they beat us on guns owned per capita by a mile. In the city and it's surrounding counties almost everyone is guncucked, surprisingly though the blacks and hispanics don't give a fuck about guns. It's literally the ancient WASPS still lording over the entire state from the upper east side because they it helps maintain their "privileged" status.
For the record you can own a fun in NYC, but don't even waste your time trying to get your local precinct to okay you having a handgun or an unfucked AR.

So I've been eyeing the c308 for awhile, thinking of making it my first firearm. I've got a couple of informed friends who advise against it, both say to get an ar. While I agree that the ar is certainly a better gun, I can't help but feel like it's the gun everyone has, plus I'm a history buff and the cetme has a cooler story Imo. Is the cheap price and unique/cool factor strong selling points, or am I just being stubborn? Also, input on cetme/g3 type weapons or roller delay blowback in general
Century has spotty QC.
if you can handle it and check if everything is in order, sure. But I'd rather save an extra $200 and get the PTR.
>>29449008
Get a PTR.
My first gun was a PTR a few years ago. I'd recommend it, so long as you are concious of any flinching you may be doing. Buy a muzzle brake perhaps, and dry fire practice often. It is a good, simple gun that is easy to maintain, and is fairly foolproof. Ammo may be a bit expensive, as it's $.40+ a round.
Will soldiers use full body armor like this in the future? Why or why not?
They practically already do.
>>29448436
>plate carrier + helmet
>full body armor
No. The direction personal protection is going is less is more. 40 years ago it was full nylon smocks, 30 it was nylon vests, then it was big fabric vests with plates, then it was Kevlar vests with plates, then it was tight waistcoats with plates and now its just plate carriers. Then next iteration would predictably be plates with pouches molded into them or something, but that would be a step back desu. Those bracers and hand armor don't do shit and nobody would wear them, the shoulders make sense but are huge so people would ditch them too at first opportunity.
Can someone explain this to me? I've read a bunch of stories about how police will confiscate someone's weapon after they use it in a self defense scenario. Is this only done when foul play is suspected? Are there certain parameters that police have to see before legally taking a pistol?
I'm sure that this may be location dependent to some degree, but I'm really just looking for any information on this.
>>29448338
Police gather evidence. Weapon is evidence. Hence, into the bag it goes.
>>29448338
i've never been in a scenario where my firearms could have been taken, but from what i hear they take them to "verify they're not stolen" or some bullshit. Thats fairly common from what i've gathered. The part were your mileage may vary is upon return of your firearm. Some people have gotten their firearm back in perfect condition and others have had theirs returned missing optics, blemished, or disassembled.
>>29448382
Yes, expect to have a badge number or case number scratched into it for chain of custody purposes. Enjoy.
Is there a way I can put these two things together and make a retractable stun baton?
