When's the last time you had a showdown at high noon?
>tfw you'll never keep your six gun slung low by your side, ready to send any desperados that cross your path to Boot Hill
>tfw no dead or alive bounties on no-good outlaws to collect
>tfw no mighty kind ladies to ride into the sunset with
>tfw you'll never rescue damsels from renegade Indians
>tfw the whole saloon will never quit their yappin and back away when you swing through the doors
>tfw you'll never throw some uppity cowpuncher through the saloon window for giving you lip
>tfw you'll never ride to the ridge where the West commences and gaze at the stars til you lose your senses
>tfw you'll never be so on edge from your reputation as the fastest gun in the West that you have to constantly be ready to draw, to the point where you have to fake your own death to finally find peace
>tfw you'll never die in a hail of gunfire dressed in your Sunday best
Feels plum miserable
First off, Cabelas is overpriced. Unless you have the 20% off coupon, there's not a great reason to shop there.
Next, the people who buy guns there are the kind of people who shouldn't own guns. I keep looking at some of these bobos thinking that they're going to shoot themselves in the face by accident seeing as they're looking down the barrel of the gun they want to buy.
Third, how about carrying magazines and holsters for the guns you sell? Unless you have a Glock or Sig 226, they never have shit in stock. The only holsters they seem to keep on the shelf are those shit tier nylon one size fits none things.
Too much shit in too little a space. It's like they keep jamming clothing racks in the aisles to the point where you can't get around the store. News flash cabelas management, most of your customers are fat or are in wheelchairs. Open up the paths around the store.
nice blog post, you retarded cunt

What's the best scope/optic to put on an M1A Scout Squad?
If you were actually hoping to put any kind of optic other than a micro RDS you're going to be bitterly disappointed.
To get proper optics on an M1A you would need a cheek riser of some kind, a proper mount that will be a huge pain in the ass to install and keep tightened, and rings that keep the scope as low as possible on the rifle.
If you wanted proper optics on an M1A you should've bought a SCAR 17 or AR-10.

ITT: misconceptions we had about guns when we were younger.
>thought you threw away magazines after using them once
>thought shotguns worked like they usually work in video games, i.e. the most destructive thing in the universe under 10 feet but totally useless beyond that
>thought people who held pistols with both hands were weak
>thought bullets traveled in a laser-straight line until they hit something
>thought bulletproof vests made you totally impervious to all gunfire and you could just calmly walk through a rain of bullets without giving a shit

I thought the mp-412 was real and not just vaporware.
I thought ak's literally never had to be cleaned.
I thought all gangbangers used gold deagle brand deagles.
I thought Russian guns instantly equals bad guys.
I thought American guns instantly equal good guys.
I thought lmgs were all comfortable to fire from the hip.
I thought all snipers could kill at like 5 miles away.
Holy fuck I was a baby autist as a kid.

I thought war was cool, and that gunfire doesnt hurt your years
>thought shotguns worked like they usually work in video games, i.e. the most destructive thing in the universe under 10 feet but totally useless beyond that
Does anyone remember the "The shotgun. An often misunderstood weapon" copypasta that finally got HM to leave this board?
Does the military still use jeeps or is it all HUMVEEs and MRAPs now? Do they have any pickup trucks still being used like the M715 or CUCV?
Is there any modern equivalents to the Willys MB other than a two door soft top Jeep Wrangler? Is there anything like an M715? I guess the closest thing to a modern one would be a pick up built off of a Wrangler, is there actually anything like that?
Never seen any trucks used other than NTVs while deployed, they are starting to test LTATVs though

Can we have a thread devoted to soldiers wearing gas masks and/or protective chemsuits? Preferably modern, but older black & white photos are okay too.

Post guns with the coolest type of action in this thread.
Is spinning a lever action really a thing or is it just a meme to look cool?
Like would it actually work and not result in you shooting yourself in the gun or smacking yourself in the face with the barrel or breaking your hand bones from flipping it?
Would a thing like McCain rigged up on his rifle in The Rifleman that would hit the trigger every time he cocked the rifle and make it fire actually work?
>>29478413
>Is spinning a lever action really a thing
It wasn't historically.
>or is it just a meme to look cool?
It was invented in Hollywood. Does that answer your question?
>Like would it actually work
yes
>and not result in you shooting yourself in the gun
what
>or smacking yourself in the face with the barrel
as long as the barrel is shorter than your arm
>or breaking your hand bones from flipping it?
It needs a widened lever loop. Funny story, in Terminator 2 they had a normal Winchester 1887 and one with a special widened loop for the motorcycle scene. At some point Arnie grabbed the wrong one and nearly broke all his fingers when he tried the flip cock.

>Would a thing like McCain rigged up on his rifle in The Rifleman that would hit the trigger every time he cocked the rifle and make it fire actually work?
yes
It wasn't done historically but it was obviously a functional modification. What, did you think this was done in CGI?
>>29479453
>shooting yourself in the gun
I meant shooting yourself in the gut
Is it harder to work a wide loop gun than a regular gun normally or something and that's why Arnold has two different guns?
How would this guy fare as a modern commander?
He wouldn't.
Modern warfare is a game of technological superiority, proxy wars and harassment tactics.
Back in the day, wars were won with strategy.
>>29478320
If you gave him around a year of training and updating him on modern technology and concepts, probably just fine he was intelligent and bold enough.
Just throw him in command right before a major battle he'd probably suck.
>what are theeez flyoon contraptioons in zee sky???

So essentially how Clausewitz depicted it in 1820s
Hello /k/, First time poster here. I started getting into building ARs and I thought building a AR10 would be cool. As I was looking at pictures of AR10s, I saw pic releated and I though it was pretty cool. I was wondering if I would be able to build a AR10 that looks like that. Is it possible?
>>29478307
You won't be able to find an upper/bcg that has that upper changing handle, unfortunately.
Otherwise yes
>>29478326
thanks
It would be difficult to build a true AR10, the parts are rare, almost unicorn tier.
You'd be better off just building an AR with commercially made parts in .308/7.62.

It is an alright rifle used to kill a shitload of sad little Nazis and probably used to sodomize like ALOT of pretty virgin German women once Berlin fell. So thats cool because it make Wehraboos super butthurt.
Besides that, its an alright rifle that shoots alright with a shitty sticky bolt whose only saving grace after the fall of Hitler was that it was dirt cheap firing dirt cheap ammo.
Now they are actually kinda pricey for how shit they are and the ammo has all but dried up. So there isn't really any reason to not get a cheap Savage rifle shooting ammo that is comparably priced to new manufacture 54r.
Anuuuu!
My mosin shoots @ a hundred yards with groups nearly an inch apart dead center
Just stop being bad at shooting
