Bows are weapons right? Bow general I guess.

Anyway while I'm waiting on getting my fun licence all sorted in 'straya, I'm thinking about getting a bow to just pass the time. Anything good to get with a 200 dollar budget? I just want to fling sticks with points at a fast speed :^)

In Australia, you're looking at a little more than that for a bow and arrows as well. It'll be like absolute minimum $200 for the bow (i.e. an entry level wooden recurve), $20-30 for a shooting glove or potentially less for a tab and maybe $100 for half a dozen decent carbon arrows with feathers. Will probably turn out to be around $350 or a little more all up.

Which one would win?

>5 000 Renault FT's or
>1 M1 Abrams

Infinite ammo and fuel, battlefield is several square km's

>>
Wouldn't even need the 120mm. Just use the shell racks for extra .50 barrels.
>>
The best offense for the renault would literally be to somehow surround and then try to crush the abrams through weight.

Any advice on simple G19 additions?

I'd like to un-fuck the trigger and get some better-than-stock sights.
Maybe even a light if I can find the funds later on.

I've seen someone take out the rear sight, is the front just as easy?

Also, why a new spring?

We all have heard about polymer framed guns. They've been shown to be reliable over the years. The question I have, is if it would be possible to make a decent frame out of resin infused wood. The resin makes the wood quite a bit more resilient, and wood is much more aesthetically pleasing than polymer. So /k/ is it realistic to make a wood framed gun, assuming you used something like resin infused ironwood? How long would it hold up?
22 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
This would obviously cost more than an equivalent polymer frame, I am not asking about using it for a production line, more of as a highly customized (and expensive) option.

Ironwood's (the desert and black from the USA) are immensely tough timbers, so you wouldn't have to use a resin to reinforce them.
Problem comes down to working them- they'll turn on a lathe really well, but they beat the shit out of your cutting edges. 2nd problem is that the ironwoods are insanely heavy timbers... which isn't a great thing when you're lugging a gun around for any length of time.

Resin infusing timbers, mostly you do that to tool and knife handles with materials like burls that are structurally weaker than conventional, grained timbers.

Depending on how it communicates.

If its any flavor of long distance, its jammable. If its direct line-of-sight microwave, or laser, its got a range of 10 miles with a communication mast.

So, your guys are now 10 miles away from the front lines.
>>
>>29483745

Can you bounce microwave signals off the atmosphere with directional antennas?
>>
>>29483790
Yes, but you then require a very large antenna to capture and filter the signals.

A good way to imagine microwave-based telecommunication is with spray paint (see inverse-square law for greater detail). When the paint comes out of the can, it is moving fairly quickly, and is rather densely packed. But as it moves farther from it's point of origin, it begins to have interference, like;

>the atmosphere it is moving through
>other spray paint droplets floating alongside it
>the distance it has to travel to its target

So it becomes apparent that if you want to maximize your spray paint, you move as close as possible, and use a powerful sprayer. You don't stand twenty feet away from a lawn chair when you are spraying it, you are a few inches away. But it's not just you are spraying the ROV with your directive signals, you want to receive information back from it. You don't want to just cast information into the void, you want real-time feedback from your drone, so you can actually use it in a combat environment. So now your drone is not only having to lug around a massive antennae, it has to bring an equally powerful transponder to blast information back at you (which requires a lot of power to run).

This is of course ignoring Sol, the giant ball of exploding plasma 93 million miles away, which will interfere with any signal you attempt to bounce off the atmosphere.

This is the value of directed-beam transmission systems (http://www-ee.stanford.edu/~jmk/pubs/imag.div.icc.96.pdf), wherein you have a number of responders and emitters to blast your target with tight, encrypted beams of data. This method is very difficult to detect and actively jam, and only requires a LEO satellite to transfer the data (super cheap by satellite standards, about $150 million per launch).

This is of course ignoring Sol, the giant ball of exploding plasma 93 million miles away, which will interfere with any signal you attempt to bounce off the atmosphere.

It's not like they offered rebates last year or whenever and this shit has already been handled.

And before you make yourself look even dumber pondering how Eotech will survive this, look up how big L3 Communications is and realize this is nothing.
>>
>>29483460

Eotech won't survive this. Their brand is shot. They will never be awarded another contract, ever. There only hope is to sell a few rebranded low power variables before L3 cuts ties and shuts them down for good. RIP in pieces.
