Post guns with the coolest type of action in this thread.

Is spinning a lever action really a thing or is it just a meme to look cool?

Like would it actually work and not result in you shooting yourself in the gun or smacking yourself in the face with the barrel or breaking your hand bones from flipping it?

Would a thing like McCain rigged up on his rifle in The Rifleman that would hit the trigger every time he cocked the rifle and make it fire actually work?

>Is spinning a lever action really a thing
It wasn't historically.
>or is it just a meme to look cool?
It was invented in Hollywood. Does that answer your question?
>Like would it actually work
yes
>and not result in you shooting yourself in the gun
what
>or smacking yourself in the face with the barrel
as long as the barrel is shorter than your arm
>or breaking your hand bones from flipping it?
It needs a widened lever loop. Funny story, in Terminator 2 they had a normal Winchester 1887 and one with a special widened loop for the motorcycle scene. At some point Arnie grabbed the wrong one and nearly broke all his fingers when he tried the flip cock.

yes
It wasn't done historically but it was obviously a functional modification. What, did you think this was done in CGI?

I meant shooting yourself in the gut

Is it harder to work a wide loop gun than a regular gun normally or something and that's why Arnold has two different guns?
>>
>>29479664
>Is it harder to work a wide loop gun than a regular gun normally
I wouldn't call it hard, but the smaller loops are definitely better for normal use.

Are there any other lever actions that have box magazines?

I've never tried it with a rifle, but the 1887 can be done with a standard size lever, you just....kind of float it on your finger tips. It's hard to describe.

it can't be done with standard size levers on Winchester 1873, 1886, or 1892 rifles.
my hands are medium glove size for reference.

I want one of these so badly. My only levergun right now is a Marlin in .41 mag.
>>
How are .44agnum ballistics out of a lever gun as opposed to a revolver?

I've been wanting to pick one up for innawoods shenanigans to go with my siderarm, but is it worth it ballistically?

Is there any place to get a good guide on how to properly maintain and take care of a pre-64 Model 94? I recently inherited one, and it's in great condition, but I need to do some cleaning and lubrication really badly. I don't want to tear it apart into a hundred pieces and not be able to reassemble it. I just want to pull out the lever, trigger group, bolt and other major chunks so I can clean and grease them.

I tried YouTube and didn't find anything with close-up shots, and the manual I recently purchased isn't helping me much. Any place where I can get a guide for that? Pic related, it is mine.

I responded to the wrong post for some reason. I meant to quote this one >>29482183 that's half way up the thread instead.

I'm tired.
>>
>>29479453

Actually it was probably invented by cowboy shows.

Odds are they modified their guns to work by flip cocking which is why the mythology spread.
>>
>>29479477
>thing like McCain rigged up on his rifle in The Rifleman that would hit the trigger every time he cocked the rifle
How did they do that actually? Was it a specific type of lever action because I'm having trouble thinking of where such a thing would actually go on a rifle.

Dude... Read a book.

Not that guy, but Wild Bill Hickok and others had Cowboy/Wild West shows way back in the 1880's and onwards.

The old Hollywood Cowboy movies were based on the live-action wild west shows.

Geeze, go watch the first part of "Hidalgo" with Viggo Mortensen.

Do you see that small oval near the bottom of the receiver? Boolit go there. Push 'em in manually.

How expensive is it to keep fed? It looks like a glorious gun but the ammo seems like a total ripoff.

I still want a matched set of a .357 lever and a Blackhawk, but that'll be down the road. Provided I can convince myself not to get a GP-100 instead.

I got a Rossi R92 in .357 that I traded my C93 for a while back. I have a SAA clone in .357 as well so I just wanted to keep the common calibers.

>>
>>29489610

For .357 it feels like a .22, mainly since I have the 24" Octagonal barrel so all that weight just completely kills any recoil.

as for how it's put together, it feels solid, tight in the right places and loose where it should be. Only thing I'd want to change is the loading gate, since I need to really shove it in there and it gets to the point where my entire finger is in there.
