Are short barrel AR-15s worth a damn?
76 posts and 13 images submitted.
>>
>>29486614
In terms of accuracy and such? Yeah they are still okay. Don't buy into the "IT'S 20" OR NOTHIN" bullshit. Sure, a longer barrel will have greater velocity, offset recoil/muzzle rise, and allow for more accurate sight alignment, but there are advantages to short AR's too.

Less weight, handier in close quarters, and they look cool.

>>29486614
Yes. Very handy when taking it inside an elementary school.

Is there an army that accepts international mercs with a record of sociopathy? I would be a merc but I wouldn't want to lose my repatriation rights, so I'd prefer to fight for a cause. Also wouldn't want to fight for people who kill civilians. Without a good cause. Pic unrelated but cute.

If you want to shoot someone legally do any of the following
1: Join the army
2: Become a cop
3: Be white
4: Kill yourself you fucking waste of space

Any stories, about a soldier or a group of soldiers overcoming impossible odds in battle, you guys have?

Like that guy who took out around five tanks on his own while wounded during WWII for example. Can't remember the details.

>On Saipan in the Marianas Islands, he advanced ahead of his unit with a bazooka and destroyed a Japanese emplacement which was firing on his company. Several days later, he single-handedly attacked and killed two groups of Japanese soldiers. On July 7, Baker's position came under attack by a large Japanese force. Although seriously wounded early in the attack, he refused to be evacuated and continued to fight in the close-range battle until running out of ammunition. When a comrade was wounded while trying to carry him to safety, Baker insisted that he be left behind. At his request, his comrades left him propped against a tree and gave him a pistol, which had eight bullets remaining. When American forces retook the position, they found the pistol, now empty, and eight dead Japanese soldiers around Baker's body.

Hel, /k/, so I'm going camping this summer and I need to get a weapon to take into the woods with me. The place where I'm camping has populations of mountain lions, wolverines, bears, coyotes, elk, and possibly moose (though unlikely). Since I'm American and not 21, I can't buy pistol ammo (FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU). I want to get a gun of my own to use, since my inherited guns aren't viable candidates for various reasons (way too valuable/hard to feed/ poor condition).

So far, my budget is pretty limited, ~$1000 max. Keep in mind I also want to use this gun for the long haul, so reliability and/or ergonomics are also important to me. So far I've looked at AK-pattern rifles, some lever actions, and also at a handful of AR-15s. I haven't really looked at shotguns because I have no experience with them, but I'm open minded.

Marlin 45-70 not 2007-2014, with buffalo bore ammo. Or mossberg 500/930 and brenneke black magic slugs. Or a G20 glock. Or just bear spray and a subcompact 9mm.

why do ruger 10/22s cost so much now

i'm pretty sure most of em used to be around $100, now every gunshop I go to wants $300 for one that's tacticool'd to shit, and even the simple classic wood finish ones are like $200

Just had to draw my weapon against someone for the first time:
>Be on way home
>1am
>Stop at gas station to fill up for tomorrow
>As I'm finishing pumping gas some druggie/homeless guy starts walking up to me, starts at roughly 30ft away
>He says "Hey bro you have-" or something like that
>I stop him mid sentence and say "I don't have anything for you, man"
>He gets disproportionately irritated and angrily says "You don't even know what I was asking for" or something similar
>Keeps advancing on my car
>Proceed to get into car to leave
>He starts to curse me out and moves in front of my car, yelling whatever
>Yell at him while sitting in car to move
>He doesn't and bangs my hood
>I pull Glock brand Glock out of my glovebox and step out of my door enough for him to see I have it, at low ready at this point
>He begins to come around to my side of the car still yelling
>I draw down on him and tell him to fuck off out of the way
>He throws his arms up yelling "I don't care, shoot me" while walking backwards
>Once he's clear of my car I hopped back in and scooted out of the lot

Not sure what his problem was aside from being on something, but that was my first time having to pull my gun. Had my wife not been in the car I probably would have just accelerated when he was in front to bump him out of the way.

>inb4 you should've ran him over/shot him
>inb4 nice blog faggot

Just detailing my first and hopefully last experience having to draw on someone. Anyone have stories of having to draw a CC weapon on someone?

Your guns are going to end up being melted down in the next 5 years. All the youtube celebrities and big name gun guys you worship won't lift a finger to help you or anyone else when the roundup begins(protip: it already has). Your elected mouthpieces won't say anything either when the order comes down to take everyone's weapons. The Supreme Court doesn't care about your rights. The modern militia movement is a joke and they will be in line with you to hand everything over. You have been dumbed down and flouridated into a docile state and you willingly accept anything the government gives to you, and not only do you accept it you beg for it. It's laughable how fiercely you fight amongst yourselves over it too. You've shunned all of those who would be willing to help you(veterans, etc), and because of that, they will shoot you dead in the street to protect their own when the time comes and you're begging for protection. All because you didn't listen. I know this post will fall on deaf ears of get spammed all the way to page 10 if it doesn't get pruned.

Discuss.

Sup /k/, wanna pick up a shotgun to hunt some coyotes. What are your opinions on the mossberg maverick 88 vs. the 500? I know a lot of people prefer the 500 but the mav is usually cheaper everywhere I look. I'm a righty so I don't really need the ambidextrous tang safety. What do? I wanna get out there and bag some varmints
13 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Mav is cheaper because its made with cheaper components. Fuctionally really similar though.
>>
>>29485497
is it likely to fall apart on me?
>>
Anyone own a maverick 88 that can give an honest opinion on how they perform and hold up?

My dog just caught a rabbit in my small suburban, fenced backyard. He injured it pretty bad and I made him leave it on the deck. It was bleeding and couldn't get up. It just lied there. Now I'm no expert, but it looked like there was no way it would have survived. So I shot it with my air rifle, to put it out of its misery. The question is this. Rabbits are common here and I occasionally see them in my tiny yard. Will the blood from this rabbit keep other rabbits away? I have no idea why they're even attracted to my yard. I just don't want to worry about this.

There is dog shit and piss all over my tiny yard and obviously that doesn't seem to keep them away. What the fuck is up with that?

no. Rabbits fuck like crazy and their spawn will need to live somewhere. Just raise a whole yard of snakes and you're set.

So I'm trying to decide between buying a Mosin Nagant ( either refurbished surplus w/ matching bolt/rifle/scope serials or brand new ) or VEPR ( brand new ) from the Molot factory. My problem is I can't decide which and I like both and I even saw a "tactical" version of the VEPR in AK General which made my decision even harder. I plan on trying them both at local ranges ( if I can find them ) but in the event I'm not able to do so I was hoping you /k/ommando's would be kind enough to share your experiences using these funs with me. Just the normal stuff like...

>Which of these have you used?
>>If you've used both which did you enjoy most and why?
>What was it like?
>Did you enjoy it?
>Was the one you shot modified in anyway? ( Was it a refurbished surplus or have mixed/matched parts? )

I'm hoping you all can help me!

As much as I like the VEPR I can get the surplus or brand new Mosin for less. I also like the traditional long-rifle look although I do like the fact the VEPR is semi-auto, made from an RPK has that wicked looking stock. I also like the thought of the "Tactical VEPR" ( pic related ) anon posted in AKG but something about the Mosin really enchants me. I want to hear about the experiences /k/ has had with these guns.
