Buying my first gun, and I want a pistol.
What is a cheap, but decent gun to buy that is idiot friendly?
Safe, Reliable, Cheap, are my primary concerns.

Hey /k/. I've been wondering, do you need to have the permission of a gun manufacture/designer to use one of their weapons in a film/game/cartoon/ect? Would the need for this permission/licensing fee explain why Ocelot loses his iconic SAA in MGSV and the Snake Eater Pachinko?
I mean, I know games that seem to skirt around this issue by just giving the guns different names, like in.. well pretty much every 007 game, and STALKER (to some extent anyway).

Depends on if they hold a patent/copyright to the name or not. Most military arms are public domain (especially SAA's, which are arguably the most copied revolver of all time) so there's no issue. Some games have knockoff names just because.

I'm not too familiar with the copyright system. I know the Colt Single Action Army name is copyrighted, though the patent expired (obviously) years ago. So you can have the SAA design in a game, but naming it is something different I would imagine.

This is a long argued grey area.
For the longest of time, people didn't give a fuck, and nobody really cared either. Movies and books had mentioned real deal guns for a good century, and they def did not pay any licensing or shit to manufacturers.
Same used to apply to games too, though people have now started tip-toeing around the subject thanks to internet bringing information immediately around the world.
Like already mentioned earlier, you can freely copy the looks of a gun, and also use the military designations (ie. M16, M4, AKM, M9, StgW...).
Some games even test the limits, like calling an obvious Remington 870 shotguns "M870".
tl;dr: If you got a legal guy or two who'd be willing to aid you (for free), ask him. I know that at least the Red Cross is VERY anal about people using "their" symbol in media so carefreely. They've started sending C&Ds everywhere; from videogames having first-aid kits w/ red cross symbols, to music videos showing generic nurse-fetish suits with said symbol on them. Hell, even a donation campaign advertizements for a new children's hospital was hit few years ago for having a crude cross-like form in the ads.

So as we have seen, everyone is optimistically speculating that our new God-Emperor Donald Trump is going to rebuild our relationship with Russia, resulting in loosened import/export restrictions which in turn will make more Russian funs available to us.
Even if import restrictions were removed, what are the actual chances that the weapons people are talking about will even be made available to the US?
Specifically I'm talking about weapons like the AS VAL, VSS Vintorez, KS-23, etc.
I find it hard to believe that the Russian government would allow these weapons to be exported to the US, especially considering some of them (e.g. AS VAL) would need to be modified to civilian spec (i.e. not select fire).
Is there some evidence that Russia would actually want to export these to us?

Jutland was just cool as shit. The maneuvering of hundreds of ships in unison to put the most amount of firepower on target, the counter maneuvers, the screening, the miscommunication when using signal flags to communicate practically over the horizon.

My dad is worried about buying a gun for home defense in his house since he's worried that niggers will come for a revenge kill if he defends himself. Is this a legitimate concern? Hey /k/, it's pretty likely that I might be moving to a new apartment in shitty neighbourhood soon and I was wondering if putting a bear trap on my car's drivers seat and covering it with a blanket or whatever to hide it is illegal.
It's a manual so that itself might discourage the dindus a bit but I'd rather not take any chances.

Now don't take any legal advice from me but this sounds like a tricky one. It sounds to me like inherently what you want to do is not illegal but there are things you can do to make it illegal (leaving car door wide open with the trap set, leaving the keys on the hood, leaving the window open enough for someone's arm) so what I'm saying is maybe it's perfectly legal to leave the trap set but to try and get someone to fall for it may not be legal.

Yeah nah leaving the door open or the keys visible is an easy way to get your radio and everything in your car that can be taken out stolen. I mean full on locked with the keys out of sight of any passers-by.
