Is the Mauser 98k any good?
>>32048232
Is the pope Catholic? Is water wet?
>>32048232
No, it's terrible, be sure not to buy one, and if you do have one, I guess I could take it off your hands because I'm feeling generous and you didn't know any better.
>>32048232
k98's are shit
get a mosin nagant
I dont know if i should name my son walther or john or maybe even colt or samuel
Make your case
Pic semi related
Id prefer to name him after browning, but idk about how to go about it besides naming him john moses browning followed by my last name which seems odd
>>32047920
Name him John Moses and actually teach him from a young age about firearm mechanics. He should be able to make a gun before he can read if you really want a prodigal son.
>>32048276
Also John isn't a abnormal name to start with like colt.
Does anyone have more pictures like this, where people use milsurp or older guns in guerrilla warfare or insurgent groups?
Thanks.

How many guns is too many?
>>32047469
>guns
>too many
well I guess if they're all nuggets, glocks, or hi-points then the answer would be 1 however for pic in OP you're going to want at least 10 of those with no maximum
>>32047469
>Too many guns.
what?
>>32047469
when you aren't able to afford ammo for all of your guns
What is the biggest innovation in all of small arms since the year 2000?
>>32046351
Telescoped ammunition.
Slight increase in weight, massive increase in firepower
>>32046364
Been around since the 70s. Pretty funny how long it takes for DoD funded engineers to catch up.
>>32046351
Non-specific: Optics.
Hey k, got any rare/unusual guns you're proud of?
Pic related, my grandpa's luger he got for $20 (look at the serial number)
>>32046081
Damn those are some nice digits
Mine is kind of shitty but I have an attachment for the amount of work I put into it, trigger spring was trashed and there was what I think was floor polish gooped over it that required soaking in mineral spirits for a week to even think of getting to the insides.
Ammo is non existent so I'm working on making some out cut down Schofield brass, main problem is the hilariously low velocities I'm getting with the low pressure loads, I was showing a 2x4 and one bullet just popped back at me and got me in the shoulder.
I'll get some black powder later, smokeless does some silly things if loaded too light but real BP doesn't have problems with fucky ignition because of too much case.
Here's mine. Brevete D.R.P

How does it shoot?
I'm thinking about getting a S&W 500 for my new edc. Anyone with experience have any tips?
are there giant feral niggers running around you allt he time?
>>32046039
its a big pistol and it gets caught on shit all the time. Get one with a sling swivel set on it and get used to carrying it like a rifle
Heck of shotgun
Allright, here's the situation I'm in the market for a truck gun.
I want something cheap, reliable, and 12 gauge. 18.5 inch barrel, leaning towards just a plain bead, but GRS could be fine too... Traditional Stock.
I don't want to have any emotional attachment to it whatsoever. Its going to live under my back seat and will likely rust and or get stolen by Tyrone.
I have nice shotguns and ARs, So I'm agnostic on what brand/control setup is best (own a 1300, 37, 500, 590, and a couple 870s, along with a 1201fp) and I can adapt to whatever.
There seems to be 3 major players in this market (sub 250 for the gun).
1. Maverick 88 (500)
2. Stevens 320 (1300)
3. IAC Hawk/NEF Pardner (870)
All are based on a proven (to me) design.
Then there are the other guns:
Stevens 350 (37)
RIA M5 (Flite-King)
Is there one that is clearly superior in this range for my application?
Personal Experience with multiple models?
Pic Somewhat Related: Its a IAC Hawk that someone put nice furniture on.
Also whatever Generalized Scattergun Thread....
My brother has an RIA M5. I've shot it on a number of occasions.
I think it's a very underrated shotgun, and I suspect the reason is because it has virtually no aftermarket. That said, all the reviews saying it has the best slide on the market are 100% true.
All in all, it's a great poorfag or beater shotgun.
>>32045990
Own 7+1 maverick. A+ would recommend.
>>32045990
the 500 and 870 knockoffs are the only ones you should be looking at.
the reason being when something breaks you can easily source real rem/mossberg components to replace them with.
if something breaks on the others you have to rely on their warranties and the parts get replaced with the same cheap components.
the 37 clone is shit. the 320 had issues with the forend welds breaking. m5 isnt horrible but the 870/500 design is simply better. if you like the features that come with the m5 get the m5 but its upgrade potential is minimal.
Hey guys, Alex Thurman Fredrickson here, let's start a thread about our illegal weapons and modifications! You don't need to use your real name, we don't need them.
nice try atf
>>32045887
I have an illegal machine gun that I shoot fairly often. Drilled the hole and everything. I have it running a 16inch barrel, so nobody ever looks twice at it.
I once had a guy spot the pin and excitedly ask if it was a MG. I used my deadpan face and said it was decorative, semi only. He went off looking pretty disappointed.
Why is the BMP-3 such a piece of shit?
>Be in ROK army
>regiment has BMP-3s
>See that armor is garbage
>Has shit gun
>Terrible optics
>literal death trap
M3 Bradley is superior.
>>32045850
>See that armor is garbage
it is supposed to be light to be air dropable
>Has shit gun
>Terrible optics
south korea could easily fix it
Why?
It's Russian!
It's also really cheap.
My question is if the ROK has them why haven't they improved them somehow? Or are they opfor for training.
>>32045889
We also have a T-80U regiment where we use them for training purposes. Only the worst of the conscripts get T-80s cuz they are absolute garbage tank.

How much / how big was/is your safe? Was it worth it?
>be me once Afghanistan
>be fag aircraft maintainer
>working on jet with my supervisor over coms, he's in the cockpit and I'm on the ground inspecting munitions
>look up to suddenly see entire flight line of personel are flat on their faces
>oh shit, we are getting mortared and because of the running jet I didn't hear the alarms
>hit the deck like Chris brown hitting Rihanna
>listening for an explosion when my supervisor says something asking about the munitions over coms
>fuck, forgot to tell him we are getting attacked
>he is in the worst position possible atm, high in the air and totally exposed
>scream in the mic for him to get the fuck out, we are being fired at
>curses incoherently into the mic at me for not telling him sooner
>exits the cockpit like he was shot out of it and makes sweet love to the concrete ground
>after the all clear he asking me why I didn't tell him sooner
>sorry, I forgot
>gives me a look like pic related

Recently, I've been wondering why Mannlicher actions went on the wayside and Mauser actions took over.
While I understand that Mannlicher actions almost always used enbloc clips instead of the superior stripper clips, but this was fixed in the last rifle action he designed, the Mannlicher-Schoenauer. This action, despite only being used militarily by Greece, seems to have been quite successful, as it was used as a base for many custom rifles.
So why did this action not stand the test of time like the Mauser?
>>32043393
my guess? countries where already versed with mausers and unwilling to take a chance. also, mauser was THE go to rifles for anyone who could afford them.
>>32043393
Expense, limited manufacturing capability, prior proliferation of Mausers, reliability.
I have a Greek Mannlicher, and while it's smooth as fuck, it's not as good as a Mauser.
Also, several Mannlicher style rifles use stripper clips. The 35m and the 88/05 to name 2.
>>32043393
straight pull is shit
