Why doesn't the USAF have a dedicated fighter type EW aircraft? There is no current aircraft with EA or EF designation.
Sure there are some aircraft (F-16s) which may use 'pods/attachments' as well as larger aircraft like C-130s but there hasn't really been a direct replacement for the EF-111.
Seems odd for what is an important role. Is it likely that it was replaced with a classified platform?
>>32984853
They just borrow an EA-6B or EA-18G.
because you wont stop touching yourself
The EF-111 was retired without direct replacement, with the understanding that Navy tactical EW platforms could cover the gap should the need arise.
That being said, there's no shortage of EW platorms out there. EW tech has come a long way since the Raven was retired in 1998, and for the time being, aircraft can be equipped with pods that are good enough for now. Plus, the newest generation of fighters have vastly improved EW capabilities - certainly not enough to act as their own EF-111s, but enough that they likely won't need the kind of close EW escort like we saw in 1991.
It's very unlikely that they've been replaced by some kind of classified platform. The scope of the EF-111's role - a tactical jammer escort - means that they'd be incredibly hard to hide, as you'd need quite a few of them and they'd have to regularly be practicing alongside the "regular" aircraft that make up the bulk of the fleet.
You notice your area has begun to get a little rough, and because you live in an area with limited freedom, cannot own a fire arm or carry a knife.
What homemade weapon do you build using tools and techniques in your shed (or garage) with materials you can source from local stores?
>>32984785
A homemade gun and a homemade knife.
Atlatl is easy to make and easy to use
I would illegally own a gun and knife. This is why weapon bans will never work.
I need help deciding on an ar15 build, /k/
This is my first AR and I can't decide between a 16" build with a collapsible stock or a 20" build with a a2 fixed stock.
Im leaning towards the a2 20" because i like the aesthetics more and i've read that 5.56 performs better from a 20" barrel.
but a shorter build with a collapsible stock seems more modern and maybe practical? I don't know.
What do you think /k/?
>20" masterrace
>>32984340
Or you could do a franken-build like me.
Honestly though, 16" is a better option for your first build IMO. The extra 4" of barrel only grants an extra +/- 90 fps, and an extra 25 yards of reliable fragmentation velocity.
16" mid length is a good, practical, all around choice.
>>32984340
get colt 6920. everything else is a meme.
Let's talk about range accidents /k/. Have you ever witnessed or caused any?
Personally I was present when two different guys from IPSC clubs shoot themselves in their leg due to safety negligence when unholstering/reholstering their guns. My range never had a single incident in the 20 years of its history, then in 2014 these two morons decided it was time to blow themselves a tunnel trough teir leg, in less than a month apart from each other.
>>32984303
Are you a member at my club wcgc? I blame it on the increasing number of "real defiance" style competitions. "Tactical operating" is more dangerous than olympic slow as balls .22lr shooting. Also glock leg... freaking stupid no safety trigger safety.
>>32984303
here are 2 of them

plenty more of these at liveleak, search for suicide range etc

2004, had a borderline retard in my basic training platoon. Retardanon believed there were 43 seconds in a minute because another Pvt told him so. He took the "no facial hair" rule to the point he shaved off his eyebrows. Different day, new fuckup from retardanon.
Somehow he squeeks through basic and AIT. The fact he squeaked through MEPS was a miracle in itself. Goes to his unit.
>at .50 range
>he's asking one of his usual stupid questions
>squadleader tells him to get a pacecount to the 300m target
>turns around, pays him no more mind
>dumbfuck actually did it
>somehow, no-one saw this stupid fuck walk past the firingline
>Retardanon literally walks up to the 300m target
>gets mistaken for a popup target
>no more retardanon
>literally died less than 3 months after arriving at his unit.
>didn't have kids

Has anyone ever had a semi-auto go full auto by malfunction?
>>32984301
My brother once shot a CZ75 of someone (chambered in .22lr though) that had a really light weight trigger. It sometimes went of two or three times "with the same trigger pull"
I had a super dirty SKS slam fire a couple times. I was young and didn't clean my guns well. My PTR did once but it was reloads done by me and I have to assume that it was due to a fucked up primer. It fired two shots with one pull of the trigger.
Saw a guy's M1A cook off a mag at the range. He had replaced the plastic top part of the handguard with unventilated wood.
I'm going to be doing my first AR-15 build from an 80% lower receiver, polymer.
I've helped a friend in milling and assembling a number of rifles and finally have a slim budget assembled, found a cheap pic related at Palmetto State Armory.
I had originally planned to get the lower from Polymer80 for the jig system, but feel confident in my experience to use EPArmory's sticker jig as a much cheaper alternative.
So /k/ let me see what you've built from these plastic paperweights. Include prices.
>>32984449
Real men bend steel and hump pillows desu
What's the appeal of an 80% AR lower other than le ghost gun? It made sense for me to start from AK flats because the cost of the tools was less than buying complete receivers + shipping + transfer fees
>>32984286
>polymer.
dont
>>32984486
looks damn nice, and I guess its the project appeal to it.
Would of went with AK flat, but have no hydraulic press. I had seen a die that uses screws tightening to bend to shape, would most definitely prefer this to the AR if I could find it again.
Where do you draw the line between being autistic and being prepared? I have a gun in every major room of the house, at least 500 rounds of ammunition of every caliber weapon I own at any given time, I have several tubs of Mountain House dried food for emergencies as well as a reasonable stash of canned goods and a few gallons of water, and even though I spent ~400 on a DAC and quality headphones I feel like I can't even listen to music at the volume I want because I won't be able to hear an intruder. I live in a nice neighborhood. Am I a crazy person /k/?
>>32983721
>Am I a troll person /k/?
>>32983721
Seems like you're woefully unprepared, because you don't have a security system that will notify you of an intruder. Video surveillance systems for when you're out of the house, so as to protect your supplies/firearms.
Simple stuff.
>>32983843
It's something I've definitely thought about, but I'm still renting places right now and not looking to buy just yet. My situation just doesn't work out for it. Definitely going to when I end up buying though.
>have to pay $1000+ for actual reliability
why do you do this to yourselves
>>32983598
I paid $500 for my 1911 and in the thousands of rounds fired never had a single hiccup
>>32983598
Nice bait thread.
>>32983598
You can get a 1911 for less than $350 that's as reliable as original GI guns.
Stop buying Kimbers.

>>32983187
I don't think anyone can really kill a group like Isis or the taliban like you could with an enemy nation because even if you kill all current members, there's no stopping new people from taking up the mantle
>>32983226
And yet ISIS is doing it. All that matters is a lack of RoE ad stupid war conventions.
>>32983187
>Raise taliban to kill iraqis
>Raise ISIS to kill taliban
It's like pottery
This in entirely hypothetical, but say I was designating a video game and needed consultation on firearms, the mechanics wouldn't be too realistic, it's just a 2d isometric shooter, but I'd still like to be accurate on the performance:
1 - Where do I find such people?
2 - Anyone in here ever worked as consultor for media?
