I need help deciding on an ar15 build, /k/
This is my first AR and I can't decide between a 16" build with a collapsible stock or a 20" build with a a2 fixed stock.
Im leaning towards the a2 20" because i like the aesthetics more and i've read that 5.56 performs better from a 20" barrel.
but a shorter build with a collapsible stock seems more modern and maybe practical? I don't know.
What do you think /k/?

Or you could do a franken-build like me.
Honestly though, 16" is a better option for your first build IMO. The extra 4" of barrel only grants an extra +/- 90 fps, and an extra 25 yards of reliable fragmentation velocity.
16" mid length is a good, practical, all around choice.

get colt 6920. everything else is a meme.

Budget?

Fuck off fudd. It's not 1990 anymore, there are better options on the market than "muh pony"
I built my AR just a few months ago, went with a fixed stock and a 16'' barrel. Really liking it so far.

You can build a 20" with a collapsible stock.
>>32985184
yeah, I know, but I like the a2 stock better for a 20"
they just go well together.
I don't give a fuck what you do. Post this boring shit on your blog, fag.
I built a 20" because I am never, ever going to be kick in doors with it, and I love the look.
My first AR15 is an M16a4 clone that I'm trying to finish. I already have the lower finished, just need a good upper.
Honestly if you're not wearing body armor and layers of tacticool vests, you won't notice the length of the A2 stock. If you aren't jumping in and out of vehicles or clearing rooms, you won't notice the extra length. Fun fact, a shotgun is about as long as a standard A2/A4.
>>32984340
why not both?
For what it's worth, the A1 stock is a little better than the A2. It's just a touch shorter, so it's more comfortable for most shooters.

That optic and mount are disgusting.
Protip not all 5.56x45 ammunition is M193 or M855
Protip again at self protection ranges M193 and M855 have more than enough velocity to fragment reliably
Protip for non casuals, doesn't apply to you being a casual however, 77gr OTM 5.56 and 223 loads do not fragment for their terminal ballistics damage, their fragile, open tips snap off causing the rear of the projectile to rapidly destabilize and tumble, and perform equally well out of 10.5, 16, and 20 inch barrels with proper twist rates
The most current iteration of the NWSC Mk12 uses a 16" barrel

Kys, faggot.
>>32984340
Depends what you want, I prefer 20" barrel over my 16". Enjoy my Diemaco abortion.
>>32984340
Build an A2 or A1.
Old school rifles, iron sights, historical shit, all have their aesthetic value, and are more enjoyable to shoot at the range, all while still being perfectly fine defense rifle.
A standard 16 inch can be bought whenever, but you'll enjoy & value the A1/A2 much moreso

>basic bitch 'nam m16
>modern pmag
yeah i'm gonna need you to just go ahead and not do that
>>32990723
>the only thing he noticed was the pmag
Nigga please, the grip is wrong as is the barrel and delta ring, also the lower isn't right
>>32984340
both are functional but the 20" is 10x more aesthetic imho
also aside from having a very slight advantage in terms of velocity, the gas system is more rugged, reliable and more importantly durable than the carbine or mid-length systems, especially when compared to the former.
