It's important to be able to field strip your weapon to effectively clean it. But some guns arguably have easier takedowns. In your opinion, which guns have the best method of takedown?
>>35022712
Bolt guns with a push-button bolt release.
Also, common pump shotguns with quick change barrels & single pin trigger-group retention.
>>35022712
92fs' are pretty easy.
I LIKE taking down Mark 1-3s. It's like a fun puzzle club that mechanically inept people can't figure out. Makes me feel smart.
Hey /k/ just came from /sci/ in thread talking about relativistic kinetic kill vehicles and it got me thinking. If ayys ever attacked, what weapons would our militaries have to combat them?
>>35022677
Fuck all.

>>35022677

why are water cooled machine guns not mounted on vehicles instead of air cooled?
>brb coaxial vickers gun on your tank with 10k rounds
>can let off retarded bursts
>dont have to worry about barrel melting
>>35022671
They're heavier and take up more space.
>>35022671
First is that it greatly increases the weight and complexity of the install.
Second is that tanks would better use the space consumed by 10,000 rounds of MG ammo for additional main gun rounds.
>>35022696
How much of a difference do 20lbs really make on a tank or IFV?
Guys, so I'm going to trade school in january. I'm 26, and I have back grounds in both, but I can't decide.
Fireman or welder?
I know this doesn't have much to do with firearms but your my only board. If I get a trade as a welder I can go to work on the Alaska pipeline, but if I pick firefighter I can work in Boston or somewhere and have badass war stories.
Which would you pick?
>>35022663
Potentially more money as a welder
Guaranteed more pussy as a fireman
>>35022688
Isn't the equation: time over money equals pussy over X?
Well if it's more money as a welder I guess I'll do that. I can buy a wife and more money means more money for guns.
Hey random question here. I have an older bird hunting shotgun... When it is not loaded... And i turn it straight up and down either way....(barrel up, barrel down)... I hear somthing "sliding" up and down within the gun... What is this? Is this normal?
>>35022547
Possibly a round restricter that's loose. Also, no such thing as bird shotgun, depends on round you use.
>>35023499
Oh. Its just really long. Not ideal for home defence. How bad is this issue? The thing being loose. Can itbe fired safely?
Have any of you made your own stocks? How hard was it and what tools did you use?
Haven't done it, but a band saw, drill press, and Dremel for starters. Would love more info on doing it as well
>>35022594
I have a dremel, angle grinder, hand drill and a chisel set. I'm going to just test it on some 2x10 framing lumber first and if it turns out good I'll go for some custom stuff.
The inletting is what I'm worried about the most
>>35022520
Draw knife, band saw, plunge router, dremel, planes , gouges , mallet, wood glue, bedding compound. calipers , sharpies, T square, level
Drill press.
Its a fun hobby.

I'm currently writing a novel set in the UK during the early 1800's. One of the scenes will involve a deer stalk (the character's going after a red deer) but I can't seem to find any rifle/musket model that would fit the time and purpose. Any of you chaps would now where to find such information?
>>35022151
How early in the 1800's are you talking here, and where exactly in the UK will it be?
>>35022269
>19th century
>1800's
>>35022295
Yes, the 19th century covers the period from 1801 to 1900. So it is correct.
Also story time, taking place in what was formerly Kim's Korea
