Electromechanical Works Podolsk unveiled the first non C&C Russian 4x4 vehicle in a long time, the Samnum at the 2017 Armada Convention.
It's armed with 2 automatic ZU-23 / 30M1-4 guns and is manned by a crew of 3. It's purpose is to hit flying targets with a range of up to 2,5km.
It's max speed is 160km/h and has an autonomy of 1000km. It weighs 6,5 tons.
So the real question is, why the fuck did they decide to make 4x4 vehicles again?

Decent, but they tended to outpace the infantry. Any tank with a high explosive round and machine guns can do infantry support, it's the heavy cav aspect that's hard to perfect.

Body Armor Requirements. I always hear the argument for Level 4 armor being that the military will have AP rounds. How common is it for soldiers to even be issued AP rounds?

But ceramics behave differently then steel, same with Poly plates. Im curious how they would do against the new A1 rounds. I have seen poly ceramic combos plates rated for 308 AND green tip (i know its not nij certified) but there are videos of people shooting them and the plates stopping them.

Saw a video a while back explaining that even if body armor stops a 12 gauge slug, the energy transferred through the plate into the wearer is enough to break bones and rupture internal organs, causing serious injury if not death. Ergo, the plate is useless.
That being said, since 308 has more energy than your typical shotgun slug, will it have the same effect? (i.e. seriously injuring/killing even if armor stop the projectile). OR does the shotgun slug have more of an effect bc. of greater mass?
For reference:
Average 12 Gauge Slug
Muzzle Energy - 2664 Foot Pounds
Weight - 300 Grains
Average .308 Round
Muzzle Energy - 2648 Foot Pounds
Mass - 150-180 Grains

Level III hard plates stop slug without problem without causing serious injury. kevlar on the other hand stops slugs but the energy really can mush something inside. the difference is the area of impact (pressure and all that physical stuff).
Speed is king in defeating armor keep that in mind, for example a level IIIA kevlar will stop the slug but the energy making a gigantic back deformation that could kill u, the .308 will go through and kill u.
in a level III hard plate the slug will stop and not mush ur organs, the .308 will also stop but the back deformation will be bigger but will not cause damage
