Don't even fucking bother, it's just an autistic unoriginal piece of shit rifle that will never be anything more than a shitty commercial AK for the US market, unlike those true reweld third pin full auto true AKs that are the only true AKs ever, literally everything is garbage not real guns

Not trying to drag that shit into the new thread but I've been looking for an excuse to post this

What you're looking at is basically a before/after of the same receiver. Not technically true because it's two different receivers in the same image. But the bottom receiver started exactly the same as the top.

Some guy wanted full auto 100-series clones, so he sent his transferable Chinese machine guns to POHF who then totally redid them. Notice he added the receiver stampings and everything.

>>35022119
That's pretty impressive actually
>>
>>35022060
Me for like, 2 more days.

Then I'll wanna buy stuff and have money, but can't because I'll need to find out if 5.45 is kill, in which case I'll need to throw all my money at that and another case of 7.62.

>tfw even my Type 56 and Maadi aren't real AKs because they're not Russian and if an AK isn't Russian it isn't a true AK
>>
>>35022119
The front trunnion on the top one looks weird. It looks like youd need an oversized barrel pin, never seen that before
>>
>>35022182
That's just because it's Chinese. The front trunnion rivet pattern is different too. Not even sure how Mario accomplished that while keeping the original Chinese front trunnion.
>>
>>35022159
>tfw last week of summer
>>
>>35022202
>Not even sure how Mario accomplished that while keeping the original Chinese front trunnion.
Think he sleeved, welded, and then hid it?
That or perhaps he inserted a pin, welded it, and then drilled out the proper diameter.

Regardless how he did it, that man is a perfectionist.

what furniture do you want to use?

if you go for a more modern look with black furniture the PK-01 might look nice. the hammered finish of the venezuela looks nice with wood as you have probably seen

i think it would look fine on a traditionally-oriented 7.62x39 rifle as well

measure the muzzle, if it's .550" or larger you should be good to go.

Anyone know the meaning behind the M, Ч, and Б stamps on various Russian mags? I know they're acceptance stamps or proof marks, but what do they actually mean? The rifle was my dads during the van and he was the one who threaded the muzzle and put that flash hider on and I just texted him asking about it and he says he doesn't think he silver soldered it and that he just used a crush washer and lock tite, maybe I've been wrong all these years and I'll be able to get it off

>>35024025
It was just a 100% impulse buy (saw it online at SHOT coverage and went "near" and bought it the week of SHOT) and I needed money to pay for getting my kit built but I blew most of it on other AK things instead, I only lost like $100 out of it which isn't that bad. I liked it but I just shouldn't have bought it in the first place or should have gotten an A1 clone or SP1 instead as it was between the XM or one of those. I'd have kept it if I had got an A1 like I originally wanted. It was a really nice gun but it just wasn't for me

Once I get an AUG it'll be the only 5.56 gun I shoot, I put maybe like two or three mags through my AR a year so I'll end up shooting it even less
>>
>>
>>35024285
My father wasn't quite that bad, but growing up in Iowa, I didn't even touch an AR until I was 16 in a LE after school program. All he had was a couple shotguns and a few Milsurps from WWII that his uncle gave him, and we never went shooting.

My father wasn't against them, but had no need for one, or the desire. Ended up giving him his first AR for father's day last year and he likes it, but still hasn't shot it yet because I'm not around to go shooting with him.

I still remember when I saved up money and he bought my first shotgun for me so I could go hunting with my brother. We had a conversation about gun registration and how I thought it should be a thing (dumb kid) and he just laid out some common sense reasons as to why it would be pointless.

The man had the taste of a fudd, but the mentality of a true 2A believer. Go figure.

Neither was my dad, the lecture came from my mom. After my dad shot my AR for the first time he had be put one together for him. My mom kind of came around on guns, except now she's one of those "well I can be trusted with a gun but most people can't" type liberals. I don't know if that's worse honestly.

>>
>>35024517
Let's try a word association exercise to determine which rifle would be the best choice for you. Post the first word that pops into your head.

First word is "wood".
>>
>>35024517
Depends on what you have already and what you want. the AR556 will be a good starter gun. Easy to accessorize, and commonly available parts and ammo. AKs aren't difficult to own, but it's a different beast.
>>
whos a good ak builder?

I know flandre but hes out of the business Ive heard.
>>
Guys, what's a good after market safety with the finger ledge? I'm looking at the Armascor one, but it looks like the ledge will come down below the receiver.
>>

Am I just having a major retard moment or was he fucking retarded? I don't live in a state with any weird laws btw.
>>
>>35024698
I'm pretty sure you can convert a pistol to a rifle, but not a rifle to a pistol. So once it's a rifle then you couldn't change it back, but I'm not a lawyer so take it with a grain of salt.
>>
>>35024759
That's what I was aware of too. I now that you can't convert a rifle to a pistol but you can convert a pistol to a rifle.
>>
>>35024786
Dude probably doesn't know his guns laws. It seems counter intuitive that someone who works with guns wouldn't know that but there are a shit ton of regulations floating around in his head already related to what he is doing.

If it makes you feel better the only reason I don't have an SLR104 is because the guy behind the counter refused to sell it to me and ship it to Oregon because he thought Oregon had an assault weapons ban in place. Pissed me off so much I went and bought an AR from another store and here I am 5 years later kicking myself and hating him.
>>
>>35024848
Since the 104 train has passed. Get a Bulgarian AK-74 parts kit and a decent barrel while you still can. Do a parts kit build.
>>
Hey guys, I need help trying to justify a conversion cost.
How much, if you had all the money in the world, would a matching bulgarian kit build on a childers receiver with all correct markings be worth to you, brand new?
>>
>>35024876
With a Bulgarian CHF CL barrel? Depends on how bad I wanted it. I don't make my gun decisions based on their monetary value, just what I can spend to satisfy what degree of autism I have with a thing.
>>
>>35024871
I will eventually. Hopefully I don't wait too long but I want to see how the next couple years play out as far as getting AK shit and ammo availability. The rats who run this country might as well form a "No Fun Allowed" party and run on that.
>>
>>35024924
>next couple years
LOL
>>
>>35024871
Just bought one tonight. I need a plum 74 in my life.
>>
>>35024896
I'm trying to justify converting a fixed stock Bulgarian 74 into a folder. For everything out the door, it would cost me about 700, which is reasonable given the costs associated, but at the same time, it's almost a new rifle.
>>
>>35024948
Meh, if they get super rare or expensive or ammo becomes hard to find I really don't want one anyways because I have guns to shoot and have fun with. I don't want to worry about where to get new mags, or if ammo is going to be in stock when I get low.
>>
Honest question, (I'm b4 no way atf), if all guns were effectively banned and/or a door to door confiscation was authorized, would you turn them in or risk it all?

>>

>>
>>35025047
A bit more but this. At that point you might as well get another rifle.
>>
>>35024995
Risk it all. There aren't enough federal agents to go door to door and local police around me wouldn't even bother. I'm also out in the sticks away from everyone and easily overlooked.

200 Triangle Assembly
200 Labor
200 Cerakote/Gunkote
At the end of the day, I don't have any skills to do it myself, and I don't have the money, nor time to do so, so I'm kinda stuck with a builder. Given those costs, what do you guys think? (Reinforcement plates as well as notches incl in receiver.)

>>

Nope, doing all new, sorry if I miss led you. If you were to do it on the same receiver, would there be any extra issues? I was recommended to get a new receiver. And, for those with some experience, is my list of costs reasonable for my unreasonable project?
>>
>>35025328
Just get another parts kit, Bulgy barrel, and the childers receiver. It's well worth it. Why only have one Bulgarian AK-74 when you can have two or more? Personally if I won the lottery tomorrow, you know what I would do? Buy up dozens of the same types of parts kits, the best barrels I can get, the best receivers, and make as many nearly identical rifles as I could.
>>
>>35025328
lol no. If you're going from an akm rear trunny you can just pull it, make the cuts (4.5 deg or 5.5 deg), install the new folding trunnion, and cut for the front latch. Doing a new receiver is twice as much work.

You don't need to pull the barrel for the trunnion install or the front latch cuts. For the front latch you just have to drill a little into the bottom of the front trunnion so the pin has a place to fit.

I spent too much time investigating this.

"ЧИMКEHT" is the pre-1992 russian name of Shymkent, a city in Kazakhstan.

"TУPКECTAH" is Turkistan, which could be the city in Kazakhstan, the name of a geographic region encompassing some of those soviet -stan countries, or maybe this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkestan_Military_District

The top word has a latin Z in it, I don't know what to do with it. "OPAЗ" seems to be a name, maybe the Z is the start of a non-russian last name?

Maybe an address? It has a numbers > city > region thing going on.
>>
>>35027721
Top part is a non-ruski name, the number must be the number of the base.

Really? I was under the impression that they switched to cast gbs when they started making their own AKM rifles. So if I have two polish AKs dated '71 & '73 the gbs aren't cast?

Living with autism sucks.
I'd prolly save 50$ with the V, but I'm worried it might be too heavy. Also I'd be attaching a Streamlight HLX - would this ruin the classic AK aesthetic? If it does I'll stick with polymer.

Is the Bizon in production anymore or has it been benched by the Vityaz? I see a million pics of Vityaz in use but not so much of the Bizon

How does the Vityaz compare to its contemporary SMGs? I mean I know if it sucked it wouldn't have been adopted and I know that a closed bolt blowback 9mm AK is something that is hard to go wrong with, but does anyone know it's reputation in Russian use?

Personally I think it looks really cool and on paper looks like a very fine submachine gun

At one point I considered "building" an AR, but most of the "built" ones I've seen and shot are either unreliable pieces of shit with gas issues or some other stupid problem, and/or the people who've put them together told me that it's been more fun putting it together than actually shooting it. That's fucking weak sauce. I'd rather just save up and get something I'd enjoy shooting like a SCAR 16 or something.

That's how it's done m8, at my work we have a huge storage area for tons of boxes of files and I Tarzan'd up to the top shelf and made a hidden fort out of boxes, literally nobody can see me unless they also climb to the top shelf and climb over walls of boxes (made a sneaky hidden door to my fort too from boxes) and take naps up there sometimes kek. Mostly it was because I was board and wanted to see if I could get away with it but nobody has found my fort in like two years so I guess it's really hidden

I call it Fort Fuck Off, I highly recommend everybody make hidden forts at work it's awesome

>gas issues
The majority of cheap AR barrels are overgassed from the factory since people like to run cheap, weak steel case ammo, meaning that whenever you run full power 5.56 you get a bunch of gas blowback. Add in the fact that most people don't understand why H buffers are a thing and you get issues.

I'm pretty new to ARs, so forgive the moon question, but what is an"H" buffer? Stands for heavy I guess? If I plan to shoot brass case 5.56(mostly) through mine since I can pick it up anywhere should it be something I get? How do I tell an H buffer from the one I have in my AR already? Sorry, I know this is AKG, but you guys are generally more helpful and laid back than ARG
