I was planning on getting a 10mm glock 40 for all my /out/ needs (not even a glock fan but it just seems to be the most affordable and outdoor reliable 10mm for open cary). However, the glock 40 is still a bit pricy when compared to the glock 20. I am a firm believer in maximizing the performance of a weapon or shstem, and getting a shorter arrest for 10mm, which benefits from a long barrel doesn't feel right. But he again, costs. Is there any other advantage to the g20, or disadvantage to the g40ni haven't considered? Is it worth itz. Keep in mind that while lighter is obviously better for hiking, the length is not an issue as it will be open carried

The last time I cleaned my AR I couldn't find my bottle of Hoppes so I just lightly coated everything with vegetable oil. Kept rust at bay so I thought I was golden but it turned out to be ill-advised since I've shot it three times since then and when I took out the BCG for cleaning I saw that the chamber, upper receiver, basically everywhere in the gun that was exposed to heat, flash, gas or whatever had a coating of a hardened plastic or varnish or something that's been proving a bitch to clean. I cleaned the BCG by putting all the parts in a bottle of acetone which melted the oil off so as a last resort I considered just taking all the furniture off the gun and soaking the whole thing in a tub of acetone but I was wondering if you guys knew of a better, more gentler gun solvent that's designed to deal with burned on oil.
No need to remind me not to use vegetable oil again so let's just leave it at that. Thanks

I remember back when we were trying to get CC with a permit legalized the constitutional carry advocates in Madison were being decried by Republicans and their voters. I just heard some conservative talk show host the other day on the good old AM radio saying he thinks that you should need a permit and training to carry.
What is it with people that are supposedly pro-2A fearing constitutional carry? Not much will change, other than some 18, 19, and 20 year olds finally being able to conceal carry instead of open carrying or going unarmed.

This is what she looked like when I got her. I got rid of the godawful scope mount, bipod, and optic (which I'm pretty sure was broken when my little brother bought it at a gunshow). I also checked and found out that she's a Type 56 and not one of the shitty made-for-export ones, made in 1967 at Jianshe (the /26\ place), and bought a spike bayonet since that's appropriate for the '67 model. I also got a cleaning rod, apparently the wrong one since it doesn't fit between the fingers, but since cleaning rods are cheap I don't mind buying another. I can't install the bayonet or finish restoring it until I have the stock, though, obviously. I don't know if I'll keep the tapco 20s or switch back to the original box mag and stripper clips, I got two 20s and a promag 30 with the rifle and they all seem to work better than the internet led me to believe.
