I know that all I want to do is draw, and I am putting as much work in as possible.
My problem is with my final year of high school, I am taking all kinds of AP courses
because I was deemed to be the least retarded autist. Its taking most of my time that I would rather spend studying art, so what should I do?
>>2752553
>still posting this meme image
>not even got the "Anthony Rider" => "Anthony Ryder" typo fixed
please
>>2752553
Depends what your goals are. If you want to do art college then it might be a good idea to focus on schoolwork as it can help with scholarships and AP courses can mean you skip out on taking the same shit in college.
If you are going a year where you draw only a little bit it's not going to matter in the long run. When you are 50 will you care if you drew only an hour a day at age 17 than if you drew 2 hours a day then?
>>2752558
I don't have many other related images, and you didn't even answer the question.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (I recommend ShareX)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?
>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

mommy, when is lava coming back?
So the secret to making easy money now is to draw YouTube "stars"?
Shadman's playing with fire.
>>2742719
I'm sensing some Unteralterbach influence.
And yes, derivative work does attract at least the fans of the subject matter, taking into account their tastes and standards.
It's not particularly sustainable, though, you have to build your own brand.
>>2742719
>Shadman
>That fucking nose
Is there a worse porn artist?
0/10 compo and lines
0/10 anatomy
11/10 color
How is your color /ic/?
>>2752261
Your stats are literally impossible. I bet your colours are actually like a 2, and you're just suffering from Dunning-Kruger.
>>2752261
Are we asking specifically about color or are we giving stats for all three of those?
Feel when one of the big reasons you want to be an animator is because no one likes you and ignores you in real life and you realize you would be happier being a friendless virgin starving artist living on cup noodle everyday.
That feel is more common than you think. I started drawing because I fell in love with the life of an artist I followed on Twitter and Tumblr. He's still poor as shit too and I still chase him 3 years later.
>>2752145
Omg this is disgusting. Please learn to use punctuation before you animate. Whore.
Hey, all.
If I'm wanting to draw a comic by traditional means, and I'm working with 11x17 stock, how detailed can I get with the drawing and still have it look good when I reduce the size to standard comic book page dimension?
pic not related, but is a project I did.
>>2751143
enlarge a page from a comic with the level of detail you're aiming for
>>2751150
okie doke, I'll give it a shot.
On another subject, when scanning, I can't evr seem to get a digital line to be as true as it's real life counterpart. Is something I have to get used to or is there a way to really get a clean scan?
>>2751174
When scanning, use the black and white setting (not greyscale) and scan at 300 dpi minimum. Preferably 600-1200 dpi. Assuming you're talking about clean up, digital lines will always look smoother up close than real life lines but it won't look weird when printed. At least it never did for me.
My two cents - make a test page. That way you'll know how everything should look and feel.
Nice art btw
Hey d/ic/ks, after looking at the FZD course outlines( http://fzdschool.com/fzd-courses/one-year-diploma ), I made a list of books to go through to imitate the FZD syllabus. Please tell me what you guys think:
1. How to Draw, Scott Robertson
1a. Perspective Made Easy, Ernest Norling (Supplement)
2. How to Render, Scott Robertson
3. Drawing the Head and Hands, Loomis
4. Figure Drawing for All its Worth, Loomis
5. Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist, Stephen Rogers Peck
5a. Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life, Hampton, Vilppu
6. Drawing the Clothed Figure, Michael Massen
7. Art of Animal Drawing, Hultgren
8. Creative Illustration, Loomis
Congratulations. You got an idea on how to imitate the FZD atmosphere and environment? If so, let's do this.
>>2750773
Most of that is illustration and not concept design. These places have classes that focus on functioning design and assume the student already has a deep enough understanding on the basics and are really there to help you get to the next level. If anything your list is stuff you should go through before attempting to spend shekels at FZD.
This looks like another iteration of every "get good in a year book list" I see on here while also managing to be in no way similar to the FZD syllabus. Scott Robertson I agree with since the FZD course is mostly built on his work, but you focus too much on figure drawing while having no environments or painting. It's like you took every meme book and made a list of it and threw a reference to FZD because maybe three books match that syllabus.
>Oh yeah, what would you make the book list look like then?
Don't worry about that because by worrying about it you're just missing the point.
New Anime-Inspired project. What do you all think?

Not bad for a such a small team.
The "Inclusive Diversity" thing in the write-up made me cringe a bit though. I get you're probably using that to sell it to people obsessed with identity politics, but a good story is a good story regardless of how many or few "minority" characters are present.

GO???????
Hello,
I would like your advice on my works. Ive been drawing for a few years but not everyday (and I know I should), copying pictures of greek statues mostly.
Trying to conceptualize a fox i can use for twitch emotes. Looking for critique on this sketch & references for different styles
fuck you 4chan ;-;
>>2750239
Stop petting your lines.
Also aren't twitch emotes like 32x32 px?
>>2750268
my linework sucks. i have to draw ines everywhere to visualize the shape. its a rough sketch and its not formatted to 32x32 yet
I love hearing what's what people have to say about my art, regardless of if its positive or negative but i mostly like to hear about how I can improve so I will post somebody of my pieces and I hope to get some replies and i will critique yours
>>2750123
I really like the concept of the first piece.
>>2750128
Thank you, the concept was life cycles
What's a good book on poses?
Also any quick tips on keeping proportions for characters?
>>2750169
HYPER ANGLE pose book series is very good, a lot of difficult and interesting poses. Other than that check out the first posts of Drawthread and other generals, there are links to the online galleries with poses. Croquis Cafe is quite notorious:
http://www.onairvideo.com/croquis-cafe-photos.html
Also free poses from here:
https://www.female-anatomy-for-artist.com/
>Also any quick tips on keeping proportions for characters?
Keeping proportions is tied with keeping proper perspective. Krenz and Kim Jung Gi do so by constructing box around the character and relating all proportions to it and construction boxes that make up the character. I will post more in next post.
There's also another approach - if you work from reference, it is good to keep track of vertical and horizontal lines/distances that connect points of interests or characteristic points on the drawing/figure.
It's very handy and is often used by other anons in drawthreads instead of paintovers. It is especially nice for portraits because with portraits even small deviations can make features strange or exaggerated.
Btw try using this thread in the future >>2734567 and /beg/inner thread.
>>2750977
Here is a portion of what krenz does.
>>2750980
What's fundamentally wrong with this picture?
What needs the most improvement? Is anything wrong? I know I corrected a couple of things in the line clean up.
I have a hard time deriving forms from photographs.
proportions are wrong, try tracing over the figure to get a better understanding of the gesture and proportion, which you really need to fix.
>>2751474
I hadn't read this post.
I mainly don't draw these from observation, so a lot of the negative space is screwed up. I'm mainly focusing on the forms in the muscles because that is my biggest weakness.
I'm also finding out a lot about the human body.
Thanks for alerting me that my proportions are slipping in these.
I'm pretty sure this one is screwed up.
