please rip this apart--specifically looking for advice on how to make this look less animu, more realistic. thinking it's to do with my values and lack of subtle planes, not sure...
head is completely skewed
you do not deserve your own thread, fuck off to the draw thread
>>2751179
it doesn't really look animu to me. I think just adjusting some of the perspective on things like the shoulders and breasts would help, and making sure the get the skull in perspective correctly.

Anon pls, this board is slow enough. And at least it's not another ms paint bait thread
How do you guys check your posture and health while you draw? Any tips and methods you use?
I bought an old kneeling chair, quite good but you forget yourself and end up slouched anyway. Still, more natural hip flexion position, so it's an improvement.
I think lumbar support is essential for everyone who draws an hour+ a day
>>2753203
Also train your rear delts with flies or face pulls, even if you don't work out at all this will dramatically improve your posture. I bought some cheap dumbbells, 15 mins a day.
Keep your core tight 24/7, feels odd to begin with but then you realise this is the natural state of the body.
Pullups and chin-ups will keep your posture upright and your back healthy.
Posture is really important: it's tied in with cognitive performance, mood, sleep, all sorts of social signifiers. Don't neglect it d/ic/klets

I use the pomodoro method. 25 minutes work then 5 minutes rest. I get up and dance, shadowbox and move around during the break. Sounds goofy but it helps. Moving also gives you more mental juice for increased focus.
Rate my great-grandfather's painting of 1970s Cincinnati, Ohio.
Tell your great-grandfather to read the damn sticky.

I don't see anything wrong posting this; it's within the rules.

i think he means your grand papi sucks at painting
Go to the beginner thread.
Opps. Okay.
What do you put on your drawings as your mark?
Like Full name, signature, copyright c , a full date or only the year, abbreviation of a name, full website or social media or a watermark etc.
And where? In the middle , in the corner, somewhere fitting in the drawing or in top of the drawing?
Lmao, hillary got the shittiest signature
Please stay relevant to the topic
Saw this in my uncles house.
How do I get it
Rob your uncle.
>>2753886
Ask your uncle if you can have it.
Well if you're very patient and good at copying work make another one and then just swap them
Is DesignDoll really a useless tool? I don't really think so, as long as you just use it as a basis to study from and not trace down to a tee.
I use it for gesture drawing practice, because I can't afford a model nor I want to be associated with the leftists frequenting artist workshops near me.

I can't even get designdoll to download, let alone install on windows 10. Guess I'll just have to continue drawing with references or using a mirror when I draw. boohoo.
When it comes to Loomis, should I read just drawing heads or everything he made?
The list of books Ive found on my computer says that he did
>creative illustration
>eye of the painter
>fun with pencil
>succesful drawing
>figure draw
Is it all good or are there better books?
>>2753777
His books on drawing are the most lauded since he's a fairly good introductory teacher, but feel free to read all of it.
In terms of most useful books, though, you'd go from the drawing books straight to more draftsmanship stuff like Scott Robertson, then to something like Alla Prima 2.
I mean, of all the crap that you could read on illustration demoing and tutorials, Andrew Loomis' work is in no way particularly detrimental unless you're an incredibly impressionable and inflexible human being. So take it easy.
Do you know if he has a book about rendering?
>>2753777
Fun With a Pencil is his first book and it shows, it's not a great book. However, Eye of the Painter and Head & Heads are pretty good and are well worth reading.
Does anyone on /ic/ use a drafting table when drawing? I might buy this one for $140. It's pretty huge. What do you guys think?
you only need a table, rest it in your legs and your desk and there you go for 10$
save the 130$ for when you're starving
>>2753124
meme table
>>2753272
What does that even mean? I don't speak internet faggot.
Does anyone here use the Surface Book for sketches? When I initially used the drawing feature on mine I wasn't impressed, but it does seem quite a bit improved with updates. The only thing is that I can't find a decent drawing program that works well on it. Photoshop is okay but I really preferred Autodesk Sketchbook, and even though the new version functions okay I hate the lack of features and subscription pay model. The old versions are a pain to use due to the DPI scaling.
TL;DR - Any Surface Book owners out there who have found a good sketching program for their workflow?
I'm currently using Sketchbook on my Surface Book aswell. So uh bump from me because I'd like to know too.
>>2752329
I like Leonardo for sketching a lot with my SP2. Pricey for what it is, though.

This is my worst nightmare, except mine would be badly drawn degenerate porn.

His comics are harmless, inoffensive and were made in his school days, anyone getting upset over them is a pansy. There's no reason to hide his old comics

Just looked him up. Neber heard of him, but i really liked what he has done!
Post whatever you happen to be working on, in whichever stage it's in. Constructive critiques only.

>Constructive critiques only.
You know, when you state rules like that it only makes your insecurity clear. Sharks smell fear.
Anyway, finish the fucking picture before you render it. And watch torso length - good rule of thumb is that the hand, outstretched, will form a perfect palm over the crotch. Not halfway down the thighs, just the junk.
>>2750622
>Sharks smell fear.
Nah, I was just hoping that it wouldn't devolve into a shit-flinging contest like usual.
Thanks for the advice, I'll make the crotch lower and try to lengthen the torso.

What did he know?

He knew that in the future, somewhere, someone would talk about him.
Give me feedback on the piece please
If you can, describe what you see on a deeper level

on the left i see a child, who is all about enjoyment, friends and something else i cant say about, because i dont understand what the fuck is there
on the right we got an adult, who is chasing treasures like money or something like that, manipulates other people, gets into addictions and something else i dont get.
To be honest this is a shit drawing because i cant tell what the fuck you have drawn
I see a highschooler trying to make /ic/ do his homework

This was just a basic design.
But it was the last of art skills I gathered because I felt myself plummeting in creativity.
