Hey IC,
I dont know if this is the right place to ask, but I remember someone doing a lot of female knight portraits for inktober, but as usually I forgot the persons name and cant seem to find them.
They looked pretty similar to pic related.
Does any of you know who I'm talking about?
Thanks!

Does anyone know why Hitler got rejected from art school?
He demonstrates he has the capacity to learn. His rendering is shit, but it could be remedied.
You should watch this documentary if you have Netflix: Raiders of the Lost Art: Hitler's Art Dealer.
what you need to understand is that unlike modern art universities, ones of old usually accepted students based on the style of art that was popular at the time, which was the modern art movement in this case. Hitler was more in the traditionalist style of art.
He sucked dick at figures, was told to study architecture, was too much of a special snowflake to consider that might be his true calling. Then he gassed some jews.

Really makes me think
I don't think I can watch artists do this to themselves anymore. Is she the next Proko?

Hey / ic / Do you think I'm good at drawing "from life"? I mean, can I study other things or do I still have things to do here?
My goal is to learn this in 4 years
>perspective of 1, 2 and 3 vanishing points
>human figure and anatomy, also including animals
>light & shadow
>shape and volume
>theory of colors
>drawing from life

Who's the sculptor of this? I think it's called "Hercules and the Hydra"
>>2848472
im not even a fan of this sculpture. wish the snake coiled around the arm instead of such a rigid body
oh look, a lazy asshole
It's actually "An Athlete Wrestling with a Python" by Frederic Leighton.
This is the display caption on the homepage of the Tate Britain, just because:
This is the earlier of Frederic Leighton’s only two life-size sculptures, both made with the assistance of Thomas Brock. In subject and scale it was intended as a challenge to one of the greatest classical sculptures, The Laocoön, which shows three men being crushed by sea serpents. Frederic Leighton was a pioneer of what became known as the ‘New Sculpture’ movement in Britain. This fresh approach looked back to classical sculpture while focusing on the naturalism of the body through careful modelling of the surface. This coincided with a revival of interest in bronze, the lost wax technique used here allowing for precision in the treatment of form.

Seeing as the snake already coils around both his legs, I think the arm would've been too much and I like how the snake runs parallel with the straight arm.
I'm just curious, what do ya'll think of this? It's hung in my parents bedroom forever, was made by a friend of theirs before I was born.
To be honest, it's given me the willies my whole life.

hey yall
I'm in art school and I've started thinking about doing some freelance on the side, to pay for life. $$$ from my summer gig is running low.
But I've never looked into this before, and I'm wondering if there are any go-to places that artists can fish around for work.
I'm a competent draftsperson and I'm open to drawing just about anything, even lewd stuff, with the exception of sexual shit involving childlike characters.
But my usual work is layouts/backgrounds, prop design, character design, and basic animation.
I don't have a Twitter/FB art page/etc. where I can advertise my work and I don't have a lot of followers on Tumblr, but I do have a regular professional portfolio online (on a portfolio site). I need to start making money asap, so I don't really have time to build a following right now.
Anyway my question is aimed at anyone here who may have freelanced/done commissions in the past. How did you find clients? Any fanart sites, forums, whatever?
thx peeps
regular freelance sites if the idea of being a cheap prostitute sharpens your pencil
http://www.conceptart.org/go/artjobs/ if the idea of being a middle class escort primes your canvas
build your own audience and do commissions if the idea of being a village harlot that gets all of her money from the same 3 peasants -uh... boots up your photoshop? idk

If there was any trick in just immediately finding work, do you think so many people would be broke?
