Is it wrong to love your own drawing style?
I'm not talking about being blind about mistakes you make. Even if I still want to improve and know what I have to work on I fucking love my own style. But sometimes I wonder if I should feel guilty. Guilty for having fun looking at my own drawings.

What about you? Do you love your style?

Picture is not mine. But if you want to, you are welcome to post your drawings and tell me if you like your style or not.

it's wrong to draw your own style, fucking cops will come and rape you for doing it.
>>
I hate mine, it's the worst shit ever. Glad you like yours.
>>
Yeah no, I think it happens a lot. Well, I think a style does come from a mix of what we "naturally" are and a bunch of stuff we think is so cool that we reproduce it, aware of it or not. So if you draw according to what you think looks good, then it's only natural that you'll like your style. I can't say I "love" mine but I certainly really like it when it's a good day and drawing turns out great, when that happens I can really see my style and appreciate it. I'm a sucker for organic lines, solid shapes, dynamic action, etcetera, so when I achieve that or when I look at old succesful drawings I can proceed to suck my own cock and say "that's a really cool style, huh?".

Then the next morning my drawings are shit and I wanna end myself. And so, the love-hate cycle starts again, and life goes on.

So I'm planning to buy an intous pro but I'm unsure if I should go for the 4 or the 5.
I've heard that the 5 has a shorter lifespan.

intuos 5 == intuos pro

I have used just intuos 5 on which buttons are hard to press, ask and see about the i4, it might be better in this regard

the 5 has better buttons and no bullshit shiny plastic that gets smudgy/sticky without wiping it after every use, still good tho
if you don't plan to use the buttons and glossy plastic isn't a pet peeve of yours, i'd say go with whichever is cheaper that you can get your hands on

Good for beginners who know nothing about drawing from reference, I guess.

I'm curious what /ic/ thinks of KNKL (Kienan Lafferty sp?)

I see people shit on Jazza all the time, but nobody ever mentions him. He's kind of a Jazza type but his style is a lot more appealing imo and he seems like a really great and positive guy. Not the best artist ever but he works for Riot and has a positive attitude.

Many of you pessimistically say artists with positive attitudes act that way because they rely on people paying for their online school, but Keinan has no such thing, and does all of his video tutorials for free.

So what are your thoughts? If it's so impossible to break in, how did he even do it?

He just wants to be day9 of drawing. I personally enjoy watching his videos from time to time.
>>
BUSINESSMEN. All of them. Shameless self-promoters.
>>
He's a little too hyper for my tastes but if you are unfamiliar with photoshop or need help working on your process, he can be a helpful guide. You won't learn much beyond beginners draughtsmanship if that's what your goal is when watching his videos and there are better alternatives (Proko, etc. I want to point out that i mean you wont LEARN much, I'm not implying that he is an incompetent artist). I find that his videos aren't very enjoyable to listen to while drawing (assuming you cant see the video and your canvas at the same time). The main thing with Kienan is that pretty much everything he shows you is knowledge that was passed down to him during his time at Riot Games and therefore he goes about everything in a very industrial way, a lotta pipeline processes and a disregard for traditionalist techniques and traditions. He advertises his comic a lot. If that doesn't turn you off, he's a pretty upbeat guy and is entertaining to listen to if you like goofy humor and (which i do). All of his knowledge comes together pretty nicely however and produces a lot of pieces that are pretty pleasant to look at and well-constructed. He is a good concept artist and has a lot of mileage for someone his age. He will usually talk over a speedpainting in the background and point out the decisions and difficulties he had along the way. He is very good at explaining things clearly and doesnt go off on tangents very often while maintaining a friendly and entheusiastic cadence. I like him. Sorry if it got a bit ramble-y near the end here i smoked a whole meme before typing this

So recently I've been having quite some stress and now I'm seeing double. This feels like each of my eyes is sending seperate information to my brain and my brain just renders two seperate images for me.
When I'm drawing from life it gets really exhausting and when I'm drawing from imagination my brain shuts down after 20 minutes and I'm getting confused.
Is this normal effects of aging?

Oh shit... that's what I was worried about.
I assumed it was just mental stress from drawing too much complicated perspective.

oh god burn it with fire. Not a tattooist but I do respect those who are. I'm not a fan of them myself, though I do like what some people can create. The steps? Draw. being able to draw 1 for 1 is most important, especially if you want to tattoo photo-realism and such. Go to college, get in the business and get good is really all I can say.
>>
>>2243511
don't go to college, you need to use your money on an apprenticeship, and thats really just a way to stay in the shop without being thrown out. Just keep drawing every single day and don't be a flakey asshole
>>
I was an apprentice for about a year and I sucked at it. Yeah my art was up to par but my social skills were too shitty. You have to be confident and be able to sell yourself. Tattooing has a lot to do with reputation and popularity, at least when you are first starting. I knew a lot of skilled artists because they were either assholes or didn't know how to market themselves.

No tumblr memes please.

I don't think the shape of the character from the drawing here is translated very well to the pixel you've done of her. There's a lot more upper body to the pixel, unless she's got a fucking ginormous rack then it's definitely a little off. You have any other pixel work to share?

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make stylized work in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.

What videos/audiobooks/podcasts do you guys listen to while drawing? I'm really enjoying listening to Jeff Watts videos on youtube, damn, so much knowledge this guys have. The latest video with his father is just amazing, those guys talking and how they respect each other, fantastic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2cCMOn-zRA

I also enjoy listening to this guy or Bob Ross painting while I want to think while drawing, as I don't really pay attention to what he says, I just enjoy his voices(no homo lol) and the sound of painting.

Yeah, wtf was that?! How can you concentrate with this noise? lol

Anyway I wasn't talking about music as that is pretty straightforward and almost everybody enjoy listening to specific styles while working. The idea is to discover new things to listen apart from music. hehe
