does it help you? if so use it.
he's just drawing a cylinder
>>2247727
it's useful if you actually know the 3d form you're "tracing" out
What's the point of trying to get good if you weren't born with natural skill?
>>2243487
I find it's less to do with natural skill and more the ability to enjoy practicing for hours. Volume and effort beats thinking about it hard a million fold.
>>2243490
I don't have an issue with putting in time and effort because I enjoy it but when I think about the future its a little disheartening
>>2243496
Making money and building a future with art as a career has much more to do with making things people enjoy seeing, marketing and business sense than it has to do with achieving the skill level that only a naturally gifted person could achieve.
There are lots of very mediocre webcomic- and fanartists who are far worse than the artist you posted, yet they make 10 times more money than he does.
Is this any good?

Read the sticky
(yes it is for beginners to get rid of the symbol drawing. I would had so needed that a year ago.)
I read it and I think it's snake oil. But whatever floats your boat.
It's the opposite of construction.
What is taught in your painting class? and What should be taught in a painting class?

I think my mom would rather have the tree
>>2241697
are you trying to get banned?
>>2241696
They taught me to paint the colors as you go rather than render in layers. It was very helpful when trying to go for realism.
Hi guys, this is my pérsonal art www.lucavaccarinoart.com

That fucking dog has seen some shit
Why is that dog a freemason?
>>2243627
Maybe he's a religious dog and after seeing some shit, he decided to seek out an organization that would show him there's good in the world, maybe even let him redeem himself through charity, community service and weird rituals.
Do you think Art as a possible profession is just a fad right now?
Fuck thats beautiful. Saved
art has never been a more available profession in history. It's not a fad. You don't know what a fad is.
yes its a fad
in 2 or 3 years there'll be no art
people will move onto something else

damn.... sorry about the size xD!
Sorry, better now?
I'm 24. I REALLY want to get into digital art, I'm already learning.
1.) Do I go into an art school for 4 years here in Ontario? We've got OCAD and Sheridan, basically. Are they even worth it?
2.) I have the option of learning programming and getting a web development job for a few years while I try to git gud for an art job. I get to save money for the future, but not relevant to art at all.
3.) Or I can ditch any kind of job and just devote myself full-time to working on my art. Quickest way I will get to a professional level but I have no money.
My parents are ready to pay for University. I live with them, no housing issues or money issues for art supplies/online teaching.
What would YOU do?
OCAD and Sheridan are barely worth it if it's a full ride but don't expect something even close to on par with a high end school. Only good thing Sheridan has is open lifedrawing and the animation program. Illustration is a fucking joke and the fundies course is a cash grab.
>>2246336
So if the schools here are shit (not willing to move somewhere else for 4 years either)
Would you pick option 2 or 3?
>>2246334
>2.) I have the option of learning programming and getting a web development job for a few years
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING DO THAT. THERE'S ZERO MONEY IN DIGITAL ART. DON'T LISTEN TO THE IDIOTS WHO ENCOURAGE YOU. HOBBY ONLY HOBBY ONLY HOBBY ONLY.
programming in particular is THE SINGLE BEST CAREER PATH available right now. don't be like me. don't throw your life away.
which one does /ic/ prefer?
digital or traditional art?
>>2246000
Good art.
>>2246021
/thread
>>2246024
But no for real digital. Cuz the superior zooming abilities, ctrl-z, layer modes, color adjustments, transform etc.
Am I the only person on /ic/ who basically never uses references?
I feel extremely constrained when I do.
>>2249911
Nope, I'm in the same boat.
>>2249911

Kim jung gi discussion.
Anyone got Omphalos? I heard there's a lot of old stuff in there.

QUESTION:
Would you be fucked by 5 niggers in prison to have Kim Jung Gi's skill?
>>2249266
Do I have a no AIDS guarantee?
>>2249269
You won't have AIDS, but your asshole will be a little bit stretched out.
How the hell did katsuhiro otomo learn to animate so well in such a short period of time?
How short a time was it?
>>2248208
Japanese work ethic.
>>2248211
Two years
Why are you procrastinating anon?
because happiness and health are more important
>>2247575
Does anyone have any of those improvement schedules/timetables? I saw them posted a while back but didn't save any, would be interested to read them again.
>>2247575
A good night sleep so you can work efficiently, or learn much more effectively, is much better than skipping sleep and working for much longer. Only a few people can handle such schedules and I'm not one of them.
Probably the wrong place to ask but
What's the best way to set up Photoshop for your art and workflow? I'm a Sai fag and and have barley used PS for drawing, and I want to organize the UI as best as possible.
>>2249687
only keep those tools open you're actually using
>>2249687
That depends entirely on you and your workflow. Not everybody paints or draws the same.
Do you even have a workflow? Are there a set of steps you use to create a drawing? If so, let that be your jumpoff point. If not, maybe get a workflow before you look to start optimizing your workflow.
>>2249691
Like I said I'm a Sai guy, so I'm used to much more simple tools. I'm wanting to use PS for more paint studies and working with values. Sai has methods for that sure, but PS seems to be a better too from what I can see.
I'm thinking it's just a case of what >>2249689 said and just use what's necessary, but I'm not entirely sure what is and what isn't.
