So, what is the outlook for a weeb artist who dropped out of high school and has no formal training? Did I fuck up? Am I fucked?
Everything is about self motivation and practice. Life is what you make out of it, but those that understand this don't need to ask this. Should've studied more, not just art, just in general. An artist should be well learned in more than just art. Draw inspiration from life and studies and interests.

>dropped out of highschool
>no formal training
>am i fucked?
Yes, obviously, doesnt mean you cant make it, but youre fucked yes.
You're in a better position than many students at formal art schools, but that isn't saying much.
please don't be gentle

Does anyone know of any contemporary art forums? I'm looking to find more artists. College is generally good but I want to find more ppl, I still haven't found anyone that I could help me truly work out a vision for the future. Most people aren't very ambitious. Maybe I just need to move to New York to find people
this has a very loose connection for what this thread is for, but listen.
Does anybody put a little effort into making their own sketchbooks instead of buying one, using a pad or just using printer paper and a cheap clipboard?
It's out of the way, but a nice handmade sketchbook goes a long way (and definitely cheaper then buying a moleskin).

I just started recently. It's super comfy and its nice to be able to make a sketchbook with whatever paper you want.
I do, because it's a lot cheaper.
The ones I've made are shit quality though.
I might try this, what makes moleskine sketchbooks supposedly good? Every instagram artist buys it
Post em now.
Rules:
-Do not rate or give critiques unless if the artist specifically requests it.
-If someone is RUDE tell them to not expect much from an hour's work.
-Posting WIP's, studies, "doodles", and random sketches are highly encouraged.
-The art must be fresh. Like you just drew it in the past hour.

this looks like shit.
going by the rules I would say this is a /i/ thread

>that delusion
It's insane the straws that people are willing to grasp at in order to NOT improve.
What do you like listening to while you draw? Favorite music to study too? Art podcasts?
>>2261261
Funky stuff when I want to draw dynamic stuff, and I personally like the whole Air gear soundtracks by the skankfunk team, fucking masterpiece.
Chillstep/lounge stuff when I did my last study was pretty cool.
I even enjoy putting gaming streams sometimes, inspiration may bloom from a cool move/animation, but mostly put music that fits what i'm drawing.
I've been trying to avoid stuff with lyrics lately. Even though I don't feel like I'm distracted, the brain listens to and interprets words whether we notice or not.
Soundtracks generally feel like a good option. I'll usually look up a soundtrack for a movie/game thematically similar to what I'm working on. I was listening to the Fury soundtrack while drawing some WWII stuff and it got me pretty in the mood.
Tips on getting into art schools? CalArts specifically
lol i thought all their schools where closing?!?!
Don't.

At least post info. Artist name?
YOU! Yes, YOU RIGHT THERE! I don't give one fuck if you're tired, uninspired, masturbating, seeking advice, or feeling as if you will never be good enough! You will STOP! NOW! I want you to DRAW! You must draw something - anything - and make even the slightest improvement! Then, you will do it again. Not because I'm telling you, but because it's the reason you picked up a pencil in the first place.

What if I told you I am coloring a butt naked Miku right now while listening to hard trance techno?

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS ANON
B-b-but I don't know how to paint or draw clothes or anything really. And I really want to color my lewd drawings but I'm shit man
Is there something you just hate seeing?
For me, I hate seeing the generic anime style everywhere. Also in tumblr, EVERYONE draws Disney style.
All this made me value a lot more unique styles, even simple stuff like Paul Robertson's sprites or even Brian O'Malley's work.
>>2254986
>Also in tumblr, EVERYONE draws Disney style.
You wish, the tumblr style is its own monster.
>>2254986
People smearing pencil strokes with their fingers to achieve smooth gradients. Extremely rarely I see cases where that works out fine.
>>2254986
I hate seeing threads like this.
They are not constructive in any way. If you start a thread with nothing but evil intent, you can bet your ass the thread will be nothing but shit. Great fucking job on not contributing to this board at all, OP.
Post yours, acrylic oil watercolor whatever just as long as it's paint on canvas.
r8, critique, circlejerk.
Underpainting of what I'm painting right now. 1,2m x 70cm, oil on cardboard

You look like you know what you're doing. Can you recommend any books on oils/oil process? I've spent all my time building fundamentals in charcoal up to this point.

So I am about to buy a graphic tablet since I am tired of drawing on paper.
What graphic tablet do /ic/ think that is good for a begginer in digital drawing? People have recommended this one but I thinks its kinda small, huh? (Huion H420 btw)
think*
Sorry, OP kinda sleepy here.
>>2251409
DO: get huion or mono price
DON'T: wacom if you're on a budget
DO: med if you're a beginner
DON'T: small or large if you're a beginner
other than that it's kinda personal preference
Vistablet might be a good choice for you
Thank you, I will check it.
beginner* Holy crap, I should check my spelling tho D:

After-the-Lock
This is part of a little project i've been working on since february, i would love to make this into a webcomic someday, the protagonists are a 20 years old cat girl nicknamed "gata" and her 35 years old brother, an obese and lazy but yet strong nicknamed "fatso", the story takes place in russia 200 years in the future, cold places like Russia and Alaska are the only places where humanity ( Or in this case "catanity", sorry...) can live, due to global warming.
Most of the world is extremely hot and animal species are going extinct at a fast rate, gata and fatso lives on a mountainous place which used to be one of the coldest places in the world, but now the place is getting warmer and the snow pretty much dissapeared, there is a huge cloud which has been covering the sky for decades, it also rains very constantly, most of the time, it is believed that everyone will die due to the global warming in less than 20 years if no one finds a quick and effective solution.
gata and fatso are know as scavengers, people who wears mask and steals items from buildings and corpses, and in extreme cases murder people, scavengers usually wears white masks with custom patterns and rain coats.
What do you think of the ideas?, i would like some honest opinions, what do you like, what do you think that's wrong, i want this to be a good story.
Also sorry for my bad english, it could be better, i know.
I'll be sharing more info and pics if people is interested.
