"Not Angles, but angels"

- Pope Gregory I

so basically, the deciding factor on whether to Christianize the pagans of Britain came about from ol' Greg spying some sweet underage Angle slaveboipucci and deciding instantly that the Roman Catholic Church needed to get on to harvesting those pale-faced fair-haired savages for their precious puellos to warm their beds asap

was there ever a time that the Church wasn't a cynical tool of chronic Roman degeneracy?

has Christianity ever done anything for Germanics but subjugate them into servitude and subvert their ideals of dignity and heroism?

to be fair by the time constantine converted the roman currency had degenerated to piss in the wind anyway

christiandom stopped the islamic moors & placated from the shores of europe to asia and everything in between. or was at least a unifying strand for the duration of the vessel of such
>>
>>1528356
Yes, the conversion of Britain was completely reliant on a single meme-quote from GOAT Pope Gregory the Great

Who was the first person to realize that our planet's resources are limited?

The concern of scarcity was probably much more ingrained into us before the industrial revolution, I believe the phenomenon of this revolution is what actually changed our mindset to that of a society that seems to take for granted the abundance of product.

Before the industrial revolution, scarcity was a very real issue.
>>
>>1528718
Scarcity doesn't by definition mean non-replenishable.
>>
>>1528738
When you don't have a clue how some things are replenished, or that escape your control, it's basically the same. You realize a bird for example has a migration calendar, and comes and goes depending of the season, until said bird never returns and you don't know what the fuck. You were obviously in constant fear the scarcity would be permanent.

But I get where you are coming from, and the answer could be the first civilizations, who realized some minerals such as gold were far harder to prospect and exploit than other ones, and that the amounts were limited.

What is the best system of government devised by man and why is it the Constitutional Monarchy?

Treasure Hunting/Found Treasure thread?

One time in Central Mexico with my uncle, we came across a rusty Spaniard sword and a pouch that had some coins and a strange mask made of rock with horns on it.

Would love to find more stuff, but have no idea where to start looking.

Does looking through your grandparents stuff count? After my grandfather passed away I found stuff from when he served a tour of duty in the pacific during the 50's. I found bullets(including a couple .50 caliber), mittens and a metal cup that they issued to soldiers.

Suppose you were a mid level technocrat.
Would you consent to live in a corporate-controlled arcology?

Keep in mind your suite is equipped with a holodeck to allow full sensory immersion into any historical scenario you can imagine. The holodeck is unmonitored and has no restrictions or censoring.

The idea being that it's an entire man-made ecosystem that exists to serve humans.

Has the Ancient Greek & Roman tradition of Pederasty been demonised in modern culture?

Bear in mind that, until the mid-20th century, it was a rite of passage in Albanian society, and is still prevalent in Australasian tribes to this day.

And also, bearing in mind that the whole notion of homophobia was born from the post-Renaissance Christian ethos (which still exists to this day), is the denial of Pederasty merely an act of repression?

Are works on WWII written during the Cold War worth reading nowadays? With all the new information we have from opened archives in post-Soviet states aren't pre-1990 lacking in detail?

A lot of them are quite good, especially if they deal with matters not impacted by Soviet actions; for instance, Bomber Command is very good, and ultimately, what the Russians were or weren't doing has only tangential impact on a book that's principally about the institutional struggles within the RAF and how the British developed their air doctrine.
>>
>>1528205
Well yeah, naturally. I supposed I should have clarified that I was refering to works that deal with Soviet actions.
>>
>>1528171
depends what the works were on. the 1900s were more a geopolitical realignment/stabalisation, people are still the same. evolution doesnt change that fast in 3 generations.

perhaps a greater awareness with a higher potential socio consciousness but there is a lot more physical and channel noise in the communications so its held up a lot (process of reformation of such being removed). dont be a problem but dont close your eyes and shut off your pineal gland

Does Niccolò Machiavelli offer the perfect argument(s) for anarchism? His whole philosophy is based on the notion that morality and ethics have little places in politics, and they can even be detrimental to someone engaged in politics. Instead, one must utilize deceit and betrayal to be successful in politics, forgetting about morals/ethics.

If morality and ethics have no place in politics, then politics is inherently immoral. If politicians must utilize deceit and betrayal to rule successfully, then politicians are inherently untrustworthy. Therefore, why should anyone subject themselves to a system that will only lie to them, use them, and betray them? Why should they not rule themselves, by which they can utilize morality and ethics?

I would try, but every anarchist system has been violently destroyed by governments.
