Fascism in Italy and Nazism in Germany were fed by two factors:
1. Being butthurt about the unfavorable outcome of the Great War (in case of Italy - butthurt about the small amount of spoils).
2. Post-war an Great Recession economic hardships.
In case of UK, only the second factor is in the picture, and even then the population was hit much softer than those living on the Continent.

Currently I am beginning my 2 year getting my Bachelors in History. I have decided I want to join the Army as an officer, but also want a PhD in American History. Is anybody here in the same situation? I know it's possible to continue going to school while in the Army, but I'm worried wherever I'm stationed might hinder my options. Should I get the PhD first or join as an officer, then go for the PhD while I'm in? Which Universities are best for US History Advanced Degrees?

I thought communism was supposed to be an ideology for the common peasant and factory slave, or is its obscurity kind of the point. Its like Marxist teachings are preached the same way that the bible was preached before it became vernacular, at the whim of the reader.

There are a couple of things wrong with this statement.

The process was voluntary, at least on the part of the Scottish nobility if not the Scottish people themselves.

Nobody ceded anything to anybody. It was, on paper anyway, a union of two equal nations. You could even argue, if you wanted, that Scotland was the senior partner in the union because the Stuarts were from Scotland.
