What's some stupid shit people believed throughout history? In other words, in what cases did people demonstrably have it all wrong?
>The Hungarian surgeon Ignaz Semmelweiss in 1847 reduced the death rate in his hospital from twelve to two percent, simply by washing hands between operations -- a concept that today would be advocated by a four year old child. When Semmelweiss urged his colleagues to introduce hygiene to the operating rooms, they had him committed to a mental hospital where he eventually died.

Hindsight is 50/50 my friend. Might as well say people were fucking dumb for not figuring out Evolution earlier.
Guess who opposed Semmelweiss?

>Professor Levy was an outspoken critic of Ignaz Semmelweis' ideas
>He was born Jewish
It wasn't just that they were wrong. There was pathological hatred of gentiles involved.

Wow maybe because he learnt it from society that learned it from the doctor.

Why, and when, did the whole mediterranean bashing start. Romans and the greeks are literally the basis of the entire world. Spain also had one a huge empire and was one of the huge players in most of world history.
When the Turks and muzzies took over
When nation-states began to exceed city-states, around the 1500s and later.
By the time of Isaac Newton and James Watt, it was all over except the crying.

Spain was only relevant in the world for about 400 years from 1450-1850. World history goes back thousands if years. In that context it's only relevant to a small moment in world history.
What was criminology and investigation like in the Middle Ages in Western Europe? Say for example Edgar the retarded peasant finds a dead body in the field he's sowing when he leaves for the morning; who does he report this to? Who investigates the crime? Does anyone investigate the crime? Any books on the subject would be much appreciated.
Did you really need to investigate if there is like 10 suspects and everyone know that shady guy, who is capable to do fucked shit?
They didn't do investigation. They relied on oaths and ordeals. Iirc the trial for felony was ordeal. Youd have to walk across coals or hold a burning pot then hope the wound doesn't get infected because infection was proof of guilt for example.
Not in the West really.
The idea of a detective who has primary responsibility to investigate a crime is a 18th/19th century thing.
In feudal times, you'd probably ask your lord to handle it, or have your own family do it.

i think for the simple utility of it, England was becoming way to advanced and atheistic for their populations to be manipulated in the way they want, creation and protection of israel, idiotic christians that follow their leaders because they are hardwired to be subhumans. america was a great target it would attract all the unwanted christfagg denominations from europe and of corse the opression of pagan cults that arrive in the states. sad how now many christfaggs a la mark dice target masons as satanist, it could not be farther from the truth, they control only the

The rise of nihilism in the 20th century and the discovery by scientists of the inescapable cosmic death of the universe appears to have pushed the Western world into a period of hedonistic navel gazing and degeneracy. The appetites are being worshipped as the future laid bare by the intellect is one devoid of hope where all life is eventually extinguished.
Soon we all will die yet we seem determined to ignore this fact, and as a result our culture is falling into inexorable decline.

How would the world have changed had the Germans won WW1?
To make the convesation more focused, here are the three most likely points around where victory for Germany could be achieved:

Nationalism was an inevitable tide that would sweep the world. The Ottoman and Austro Hungarian empires would crumble into little petty states
Depending on how fast the war ended, Britain and France would be able to exert enough power to stall decolonization movements and would most certainly be there when the middle east falls.
The Kaiser would be in power but in a constitutional role, the germans peoples would by this point realize how dangerous absolute power could be and the liberal democracy movement was strong.
Russia would fall and the the USSR would come out of it.
Post war veteran groups will form the backbone of facist and right leaning militias.

Are Christians just heretic Jews?
Who was the most charismatic dude in history?
You can't really answer this in history, because in a pre-globalized society you just get very charismatic people in their own cultures but none that cross boundaries prior to the invention of film and television.
Either Alexander, Mohammed, or Genghis.
Napoleon, I remember how he returned from exile and army just give up on killing him or something like that. This is what true charisma. Peoples like Genghis relied on a sheer brutality of their armies but what would they do in that situation? Nothing. Because there is no huge brutal armies to rely on.

Why does the allied version of history ""conveniently"" ignore the fact that the bolshevist red army savagely attacked poor defenseless Finland without prior provocation in 1939?
And then these same allied ""historians"" have the nerve to claim that Operation Barbarossa (which Finland also took part in on the axis side in pure self-defense of course, just like Romania which was also attacked by the soviets prior to that) was a ""war of agression"" against the soviet union rather than a pre-emptive strike against the bolshevist menace which wanted to subjugate all of europe and the whole world afterwards!
Do these allied historians and the retards who buy into their version of history not see the hipocrisy here or are they really this stupid?

Hi /his/!
We all know by now that gender is a social construct and has nothing to do with biology (sex).
However some losers still believe there's a link between the two. I'm not very history minded so I need you guys to help me here.
There must be dozens if not hundreds of times in early human history that the sexes have taken different gender roles ie. the men raised the children tended to the home enviroment and made keals while the womyn hunted built and expanded territory.
Could you give me some examples of when this happened please?
Thanks guys!

I think OP is being sardonic here, but usually gender roles haven't been that flexible through out history. Aside from a few tribal societies, gender roles are quite similar across cultures.
>>1723244
>We all know by now that gender is a social construct and has nothing to do with biology (sex).
Yes gender roles are totally arbitrary and not based on sexual dimorphism at all. It's merely a coincidence women are almost universally subservient to men in every culture.
