Hinduism / Buddhism and the Indian Hindu Vedic religion seem to be tied to Nordic Y-DNA haplogroup R1a1a which came from the north in Scandinavia and Scotland and moved from there to ancient Greece, Germany, Poland and Russia and then the Vedas went from Russia to India somehow as a part of this, see:

Also, if you look at the Y-DNA genetic evidence, I think there is more than one "Nordic" Y-DNA haplogroup that was involved in the development of European civilization, another very important Nordic DNA cluster is Y-DNA Haplogroup I1 which seems to have played a role in the creation of Ancient Greece, Britain, Netherlands, Germany and most (geographically) important of all Russia (remember that Russia was the first country to send Cosmonauts in to space and the "Russ" were originally a Viking tribe of "Vagyars" led by the Viking Rurik), see haplogroup I1 distribution around Petrograd in Russia and you can tell its exactly the same distribution as Germany :

I believe Haplogroup I1 is tied not only to Britain, Norway, Sweden and Russia but to the ancient Romans and to the Germanic peoples that the ancient Romans used as soldiers in their armies (you can see l1 in Italy and even in Spain also). The key thing to see is that the area around Petrograd where Putin comes from is just as Germanic or Nordic or whatever you call it as Germany is itself (as if you couldn't tell that Putin had Nordic ancestry by just looking at his face) see:
