Islam, the youngest of the three Abrahamic religions, was formed in 600AD. That's ~1400 years ago.
Why hasn't another major religion been formed since then and amassed a large following like Christianity and Islam?
Are there any other religions that have followed the Monotheistic ideology that have been formed since the creation of Islam that have failed because of the power of Christianity and Islam?

I don't think copyright infringements existed in the 7th century, anon.
Let's discuss the glory days of tank design. I'll begin the thread with a healthy debate - German Panther vs Russian T34. What's your pick? What's your favorite tank of the war?
Also, any general tank discussion is welcome. Let's not devolve this into any argument that isn't centred around tanks though.
>>1727004
And FYI my personal favorite is the Panzer IV.
Muh torsion bar suspension.
But for real, the Panther and T-34 were both bad tanks.
The Panther had awful availability, and the T-34 had awful reliability and awful performance.
>>1727004
Why? Tank design is pretty much demonstrably less important than tank doctrine and tactics in terms of tank performance.
Tell me about the prohibition period and 1910-1930s America
It sounds comfy as hell

Who was right during the Falklands and why? And if Argentina invaded the Falklands again tomorrow what would be the outcome and why?
>>1726907
The British by default.
The people who live on the Falklands want to remain british.
The Argentinians just want the oil.
If the Argentinians tried it again, they'd get their shit stomped in again.
The UK keeps a larger garrison since the war. The Argies would get decimated yet again.
The Falklands wanted to remain British democratically so Britain was in the right.

Get this out of the way early.
It was never Argentinian in the first place. It's a claim they use to drum up patriotic fervour to distract the populace from their shit-tier governance.

Was Descartes' philosophy the best philosophy?
If we were to quantify a philosophy's "goodness" by having goodness decrease linearly as the number of assumptions required to reach the conclusion of your philosophy increases, Descartes' "i think therefore i am" makes one assumption and reaches a correct conclusion.
Less-good philosophies like a religion usually require a shitload of assumptions in order to be considered logically sound, some of which are contradictory
I'm only asking this because I want to beat Descartes' high score. Can you found a philosophy on zero assumptions?
>implying you can quantify 'goodness'
>>1726719
if you could sum up Descartes whole philosophy into one sentence, what would it be?
>>1726719
>Less-good philosophies like a religion
descartes worked for the catholic church that paid for his every meal and roof over his head. his shit was based in self evident truths, its all complete bullshit. his meditations show hes not a complete jackass but his mind-body split is one slippery slope step away from instituionalised schizophrenia (mind-mind split) and that institution is the christian society we live in and the beliefs it upholds. show me some guy with a battle axe cleaving his skull in two now thats a mind-body split.

Too bad that he had already left Italy by the time Rome sent Scipio to Carthage. He was booted out of the boot out due to his strategic failures.

What's your opinion on Christmas
1. As a religious event
2. As a social and economic event
3. Any other thoughts
Shame the jews Commercialised it but it is the all round best winter holiday. Actually annual holiday.
Can't wait.
>>1726365
Holidays in general are pretty gay
Why do I have to buy people shit?
Why am I forced to socialize with distant family members I couldn't care less about?
Why am I supposed to be in a jolly mood?
Why is it every holiday commercialized?
Why do I have to pretend that some random day is of any importance?
Holidays never made any sense to me
>>1726365
1. I'm not religious.
2. It's fun.
3. Fun things are fun.
>The brittle is the subjective entity existing for itself but it must deploy the difference of the concept. The point becomes the line and posits itself as an opposed extreme to the line; the two are held by their middle term and point of indifference in their antithesis. This syllogism constitutes the principle of shaping in its developed determinacy, and is, in this abstract rigour, magnetism.
>Magnetism is one of the determinations which inevitably became prominent when thought began to recognise itself in determinate nature and grasped the idea of a philosophy of nature. For the magnet exhibits in a simple, naive way the nature of the concept. The poles are not particular things; they do not possess sensory, mechanical reality, but rather an ideal reality; the point of indifference, in which they have their substance, is the unity in which they exist only as determinations of the concept, and the polarity is an opposition of only such moments. The phenomena revealed by magnetism as merely particular are merely and repeatedly the same determinations, and not diverse features which could add data to a description. That the individual magnetic needle points to the north, and thus to the south as well, is a manifestation of general terrestrial magnetism: in two such empirical magnets the poles named similarly repel each other, whereas the poles named differently attract. And precisely this is magnetism, namely, that the same or indifferent will split apart and oppose each other in the extreme, and the dissimilar or different will posit its indifference. The differently named poles have even been called friendly, and the similarly named poles have been called hostile.
Who do we REALLY know what the fuck magnets be
I mean we can perceive magnets and see evidence of magnetism and can experience magnetism and conjecture models of magnetism but how do we really KNOW what fucking magnets is

Here he is explaining chemicals
>The individuality of the body is the negative unity of the concept, which is not self-positing simply as an immediate entity and an unmoved generality, but only in the mediation of the process. The body is therefore a product, and its shape a presupposition, for which the end that it will ultimately achieve is also presupposed. The particularisation of the body, however, does not stop at either mere inert diversity or the opposition between different attributes and their tension within the body's pure selfhood. Rather, since the particular attributes are only the reality of this simple concept, the body of their soul, of light, the entire corporeality moves into tension and the process which is the development of the individual body, a process of isolation; — the chemical process.

Looks like someone is post-friendly and new-upset.
Paying attention to recent politics has really hammered home some things.
All social sciences are stamp collecting exercises at best and an attempt to monopolise either common sense or bullshit at worst. It seems that there is a huge class of unintelligent people with degrees (almost always in social science or humanities subjects) who treat social scientists (or "experts") as all knowing prophets. "Disliking Islam is irrational" "Supporters of X are conveying their Authoritiarian Loving personalities". Its not new.
Even though Economics has not led to the ability to make viable predictions about macroeconomics people in this field have no trouble claiming a monopoly over all sorts of shit.
Even "high culture" is no different. The Republic was literally a wankfest dream by Plato but it is worshipped solely because it is old and other people worship it. It would make no difference whether Plato was praising a technocracy or a democracy or worshipping chickens. What matters is that its old and people can be seen to be praising it.
Also there are people who seriously think that "rigour" and "critical thinking" are thinks you can only get from a university degree.
History the academic subject is just stamp collecting with a marketing / PR spin put on it. Historians have nothing to say.
Philosophy is a circlejerk within the infinite space of unfalsifiable things to say. Of course the humanities and social sciences are leftist West hating breeding grounds.
It is clear that people use Shakespeare as a God to worship rather than look at him for what he was: a guy who wrote plays for people with less education than 7 year olds today. This is because many art forms are used solely as a social posturing tool by pseudo intellectuals.

you sound extremely frustrated with your inability to give context to anything but what you consider as scientific, try to go out more and understand that metaphors and axioms are what reality is made of.
