Because you still had clothing designers who were White and appealing to inherently White sensibilities. to quote Nixon, it was before "a bunch of fags took over women's fashion who like to make them look like shit because they hate women." He sad this of fashion in the early 70s, but it's equally applicable in this context.

>Battle of Ayacucho, 1824
>The last 5,800 Peruvian Patriots vs 9,000 Spanish Royalists
>Spanish held high ground, all of their best officers on the field, viceroy of Peru as general
>Patriots diminished after weeks of being chased through mountains, no artillery, led by a young lieutenant
>Spanish began by pressing hard on Peruvians with cavalry, rushing down exposed slopes in disorganised battle formations
>Seeing this, cavalry general jumps off his horse, shoots it in the head, and tells his fellow officers to do the same: "there should be no opportunity to escape"
>He then ordered his men to pick up their lances, and stand firm against the next cavalry charge
>Not only did the patriot centre hold, they CHARGED UPHILL, decimating Spanish horses and rushing their artillery positions
>Uphill retreat of royalist troops lead to even more fatal confusion and dissaray
>Masses of Spanish infantrymen couldn't recapture the artillery, which were now being turned on them
>Royalist generals are being wounded and captured, Viceroy himself gets injured and surrenders
>Results: 1,900 Spanish dead and 2,500 POW vs 310 dead Peruvians
>End of Spanish presence in South America
>Spanish defeat so profound that returning officers are labelled "ayacuchos" by the public, who believe they lost deliberately.

The initial armies were 8500 rebels and 9300 royalists. I'm not going to continue reading after that biased second line.

Erm....most of them were colombians, then there were peruvians, chileans and argentinians. Probably a few brit officers too.

Isn't it entirely possible that there have been other advanced civilisations on Earth long ago, since all material evidence would disapear rather quickly and efficiently, relatively speaking.

Define "advanced."

Once we're talking metallurgy and permanent cities it'd be difficult to miss. Hell, scientists have found pollution from ancient Roman mines and metalworking operations in ice cores taken from glaciers in the Arctic.

>metalworking operations in ice cores taken from glaciers in the Arctic.
Who did that and how?
>>
>>2238624
He means smelting operations produced air pollution that got caught in the atmosphere and then was deposited on artic ice and entombed after seasonal snows.

That ice layers itself yearly and becomes ice cores when in modern times scientists, drill down to analyse past atmospheres

Why is the Korean War called the Forgotten War?

Yes, it receives less attention than WWII. It was also a less significant event in global history than WWII. Harry Truman is not referred to as the Forgotten President simply because he's not studied quite as much as FDR.

IMO it sounds like baby boomers presuming that because they have more vivid memories of the Vietnam era than they do the Korean War era, the Korean War must have been forgotten by everyone else just as much as them.

Pic related, was the first pic to show up when I googled 'forgotten war'. If it is now remembered for being forgotten, then it is not forgotten.

The difference is that Truman is actually covered in common history courses. Korea is rarely covered and even in Cold War courses it's a passing blip on the radar.
>>
Because of the attitude at home. I was reading Flynn's book the other day (I feel like I'm only person on here who reads anything) and he talks about going to the local store with his mother and the grocer asking where her husband is, and him being surprised when she says "He' in Korea."

Which reminds me, with all the cool technology in video games now, we could have such great games. Instead we get the latest version of COD where you can't see the dead guy's face because I suppose seeing a dead Korean would be racist?
>>

Because history classes only go up to WWII.

Because the UN forces essentially achieved a draw, and nobody celebrates those.

Because many governments, especially the United States, are very wary of sparking emotion related to conflict with North Korea and China. North Korea is one of the greatest threats to peace on the globe, but they have nukes and nobody wants to be the one to deal with their psychotic belligerence until it's too late. And China fought the UN powers to a standstill almost immediately after their own revolution and they've only gotten more powerful. A second Korean War would go far worse for an UN/ American-led coalition, probably leading to the destruction of South Korea and massive military and civilian casualties all around.

>Instruction in world history in the so-called high schools is even today in a very sorry condition. Few teachers understand that the study of history can never be to learn historical dates and events by heart and recite them by rote; that what matters is not whether the child knows exactly when this battle or that was fought, when a general was born, or even when a monarch (usually a very insignificant one) came into the crown of his forefathers. No, by the living God, this is very unimportant. To 'learn' history means to seek and find the forces which are the causes leading to those effects which we subsequently perceive as historical events.

Is he right /his/?

Yes, and it was my experience in high school pretty much exactly as he said. Thank God my college history courses so far have actually been serious about teaching about those forces.

>To 'learn' history means to seek and find the forces which are the causes leading to those effects which we subsequently perceive as historical events.
Here is his point and I can't argue with it. I find causes and the consequences of historical events far more interesting than the event itself. I know I might be wrong but for example, I'm not interested in knowing how the battle of Stalingrad was played out. Not which generals were in command, what the soldiers felt lying in the barracks and in the streets. Neither how hard it was to get the supplies to the right place nor which new tank was being field tested for the first time.
What I am interested in however is why the germans were there in the first place, how the Soviets reacted to this and the thinking behind it.

Am I wrong /his/?

“It cannot be denied that there have been giants in this country. I can affirm this as an eyewitness, for I have met men of monstrous stature here. I believe that there are many in Mexico who will remember, as I do, a giant Indian who appeared in a procession of the feast of Corpus Christi. He appeared dressed in yellow silk and a halberd at his shoulder and a helmet on his head. And he was all of three feet taller than the others.” ‑Fray Diego Duran

Several Native American tribes have passed down legends of a race of giants who were wiped out.
Horatio Bardwell Cushman wrote in his 1899 book “History of the Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Natchez Indians”: “The tradition of the Choctaws . . . told of a race of giants that once inhabited the now State of Tennessee, and with whom their ancestors fought when they arrived in Mississippi in their migration from the west. … Their tradition states the Nahullo (race of giants) was of wonderful stature.” . The Nahullo were said to be cannibals whom the Choctaw killed whenever the opportunity arose.

Has their ever been a more cucked kingdom/nation than Armenia?

China
India
Any New World nation, particularly Mexico
Greece
>>
>>2229504
All of these nations have, at one point or another, had their moment of glory. The chinese were a great and powerful empire for thousands of years, and today they're still a big dog on the block. India is likewise doing much better economically and politically than any of their neighbors, and had a uniquely successful post-colonial existence. Greece had it's era of great battles and warriors, and not to mention they were the center of the roman world for a thousand years and even before that they were the source of many roman traditions that exist to this day: democracy, philosophy, etc.

Armenia however, is a nation who's entire history is the repeated displacement of their leaders and consistent status as puppet for their entire world history. The romans/persians must have conquered and displaced the armenian king literally DOZENS of times throughout the history of their conflict, they've always been dominated by more powerful empires on their borders, and the most recent visit on the stage of life was being genocided by ottomans, and they've been a cucked bitch-race of whiners and nere'do'wells ever since, not that they were ever anything but the world's biggest cucks before that

Crusades1.jpg

I did an MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies at an Ivy League Uni in the US. It ended up being a mistake, and I eventually went into law. I was born in Malta and spent some time growing in Italy, and I'm amazed at the level of Ignorance here about the Crusades and exactly what prompted them. In Italian coast towns, for instance, there used to be a joke "Mama! The Turks are here!" But the phrase did not originate as a "joke." It was a cry that would go up along with the Church bells to warn people that Turks were about the land to pillage and take slaves.

So, having said that, is there anyone here who actually believes that the Crusades were "worse" than the Islamic armies capturing (and keeping) 4 of the 5 original centers of Christian thought and learning and pillaging but being driven back from the 5th (Rome).

Is there anyone here who honestly thinks what the Christians did in trying to secure access t to the Holy Land was WORSE than the Morrish conquest of Turkey, North Africa, Spain, Greece, Crete, Sicily, attempted incursion into France, Black Slave true that most experts believe superseded 100 million (!!!), etc..?

I actually had to end a relationship with a girl I was dating from Palestine I was seeing because she would simply not even consider the other point of view and we could not agree to disagree.

Would be curious for opinion.

Keep in mind, the First Crusade was preached a little less than 2-- years after the old Churches of St. Peter's and St. Paul had been ransacked and desecrated and after the church had to essentially relocate itself deep into fortified castles. Also, would remind you that the final blow against Islamic ship pillaging and enslavement was delivered by the US navy during the Barbary wars. This was a 1,200 year phenomenon. And so, one might ask, "Why are their so very view blacks in the mideast if over 100 million of them were brought there?"

there' a 2 part answer to that. Firstly, approximately 90% of those who began to make the journey to Arabia for enslavement died along the way (see: the late Dr. Tony Martin). In addition, the male backs were to be used as Harem guards, which involvement the removal of their penis and testicles at a very young age.

Also notable? Whereas the West obtained the lies brought to the West from tribes that had already captured these people and they were already slaves, Muslims by all accounts, followed no such practices and simply preferred to cut out the middleman and capture free blacks and then enslavement.

And yes, the only time I've ever heard any sort of black anger of this muslim enslavement is in the original Italian cut of the film "Africa Addio," which depicts thousands of Muslims (including women and children) being lined upend forced to big their own graves before being shot.

And yet, had I not gone out and done my own research on such things, I would have an MA in Med & Jenn Studies while knowing absolutely nothing about the Islamic slave trade.
