Both leaders tried to portray the crisis as a victory for their nations.

But in all honesty...
Who won the stalemate?

Which country won the cold war?
>>
Khrushchev lost. The conflict was one of public portrayal, how one presented things, more so than it was the movement of missiles. Even with the mutual removal of missiles, no one gave a shit about the turkish missiles and everything about the cuban ones. So when both were withdrawn, it was the cuban ones that got the attention. That's defeat, that's humiliation.
Dude could have, instead of simply moving in the missiles, used them as a threat. "Take yours out of turkey or we move nukes into Cuba" and then when the mutual withdrawal occured it would have seemed that Kennedy was giving into Khrushchev.

I can't attest for its general accuracy, anymore than anyone else, but the six-volume fictional novel "The Clan of the Cave Bear" offered an insightful journey through a time when there was little technology, when priorities were clearer and people had a stake and part in their own survival. She intertwined numerous examples of how they might have discovered and invented things. However, she did tend to go on about the different kinds of animals at times, sometimes for paragraphs, merely naming them.

Otherwise, an enjoyable read.

Hello /his/,

I would like to request you guys to sign a petition for the UN to officially recognize the Arab invasions of Persia/Iran as genocide.

Here is an example of what the Arabs did to the Zoroastrians:

>To conquer Persia and force Islam, the Arab invaders resorted to many inhumane actions including massacre, mass enslavement of men, women and children, and imposition of heavy taxes (Jezyeh=Jizya) on those who did not convert. By the order of “Yazid ibn-e Mohalleb” in Gorgan so many Persians were beheaded that their blood mixed with water would energize the millstone to produce as much as one day meal for him, as he had vowed.[3] The event of blood mill has been quoted by the generations of Iranian Zoroastrian families to this day, yet our books of history have been silent about it. In recent years however, disenchanted Iranian scholars have been writing about the blood mills and in fact this event has been reported by our historians of the Islamic era. On the way to Mazandaran the same commander ordered 12,000 captives to be hanged at the two sides of the road so that the victorious Arab army pass through. Upon arrival, many more were massacred in that province and heavy tax (Jizya) was imposed on the survivors who did not convert. Some historians have estimated that a total of 400,000 civilians were massacred.[4]

The Arabs also killed dogs, which they viewed as unclean, in order to mock the Zoroastrians who held them dear,

In Islamic culture, you are not supposed to care about what happened to your people pre-Islamically because you were in jahilliyah (ignorance) anyways

The average Iranian would get mad at you for trying to make the spread of Islam (the truth) look bad because Majoosi got hurt in the process

Post your feeling when you realize that consciousness is just an advanced way of your body reexperiencing past memories in order to learn from them. All you think or act, every single one of your thoughts is basically something that you learnt or experienced in the past, and the logical conclusions you draw from them.
Now you ask "I-if I'm a mere machine, then why can I have my own thoughts? Why do I know of myself, what's the point in that?"
Truthnis, you cannot invent anything unique, not even a single thought because everything you do is predetermined by your memories and experiences. Our freedom is a lie.
And regarding the question that why should we know of ourselves, this is basically a mechanism that advanced organisms like mammals or birds developed to enhance their chances of surviving. These races have to constantly adapt to new environments, the game is much tougher and complicated than microorganisms eating each other, that is why beside the subconscious functions we have a much better method of porblem-solving, and this is the consciousness. It unites the way of processing and learning from memories with the constant effect of our endocryn system and other internal/external variables that have any effect on us.
What is the problem with my theory?

Either the Ancient Era (before the Fall of the Western Roman Empire) or the 1950s-1960s.

>If you were able to travel back in time to that time period, would you want to live in it?
No to the former, yes to the latter.
>>

>If you were able to travel back in time to that time period, would you want to live in it?

If you answer yes you're a fucking idiot.
>>
Would you want to live in it?

No... I can't see myself living in a shithole era without computers and primitive medicine.

It would be nice to look around to prove general consensus of the past and theories, but beyond that is fucking retarded.

Good evening /his/, I'm at a big crossroads right now in life and have a few questions for you /his/torians. I'm currently a senior in highschool (inb4 get off this site you underaged normie, I'm 18). So my parents are really pressuring me to go to college even though I really don't want to. I think it would be a waste because the only subject I'm good at in history, and to the extent of my knowledge there aren't any/many well paying jobs in the field of history. (Not counting being a teacher or professor, kids these days are all autistic and I'd rather kill myself). I'm also not the "9-5 desk job" kind of guy, if I had to work a desk job I'd also kill myself. So my question for you ,/his/, is are there any decently paying jobs in the field of history that aren't deskjobs/ are jobs that require physical activity?

...or should I skip college and go on with my plan to become a farmer?

>>

And major in what? The purpose of college is to prepare yourself for a career. If there are no good jobs in history, there's no point.

Kadets aren't pants-on-head retarded and peace out of WW1 before the Bolshies sufficiently agitate/mobilise the working class. They work with the more moderate agrarian socialists, like Kerensky, and maintain the provisional government's constitutional monarchy.

Holding a strong defensive line against the Germans and only attack towards the Austrians. Also, they could have tried to invade the Ottoman empire to free up their trade/supply routes through the Black Sea.

Barring everything else wrong with your list, Kennedy is massively overrated and took the CMC far beyond anything close to what was warranted, and then solved it by doing exactly what Stevenson told him to do in the very beginning. He was horrible if only due to bad advice and inexperience.

(Not to mention sleeping with possibly an East German spy and other shit)

If a person from tribe A is born into B tribe

>Speaks the B language
>wears the B clothing
>Believes the B religion
>Eats the B food
>Follows the B norms, mores, and traditions
>Refers to themselves as a member of tribe B

Can one truly call them a member of tribe B?

Why? Or why not?

Please explain your reasoning in 500 to 700 words
51 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Depends on Tribe B's definition of what it means to be a member of Tribe B. Is Tribe B defined by its blood relationships or its culture?

Lots of Europeans assimilated into American culture and became just plain "white" American. Lots of steppe nomads assimilated into Chinese culture and became "Han" Chinese. On the other hand, good luck ever assimilating into Eskimo or Basque nations.

Is a dog raised by horses a horse?
>>
>>2243648
No? Because dogs and horses are defined by their genealogy, OP clearly took this into consideration when applied to people because many people don't define themselves through their genealogy but through their culture.

What a worthless shitpost.

The one on the right isn't an ethnic Berber. It's kind of irrelevant though, since the black-skinned more southern Sahara nomadic groups have basically the same life- style, and some do speak languages in the Berber family

Physically theyre more similar to Arabs than what we usually think of as white, but Arabs are Caucasoid anyways. They're not black, although many black Sahara groups live pretty damn similarly. Culturally I guess they're pretty similar to some Arab groups, but linguistically they're not even in the same Semetic language family. (Though many/most Berber people also speak Arabic.)
