Tell me about the Industrial Revolution. What kicked it off? What immediate impact did it have on cultures? What countries got the ball rolling first?
>>2247561
Sounds like an 8th grade history assignment.
>>2247561
a rise of agrarian production partly due to the rise of large landowners and the rise of small farmers wich combined agriculture wich small home industry. this is called industrious revolution. this caused a large rise in population. the new large landowners where the first to invest in industrial manufactures. this, along with the human capital of inventors, is tha main cause of the industrial revolutions. the cultural impact was quite massive, along with the rise in wage the first cheap consumer good society was formed, cheap entertainment like movies and such where produced. also this is the time that the idea of class consciousness rose. and the ruling class as its opposite. also socialism got a big foothold for the first time. the country that first started this was the UK, in second came the Southeren netherlands (later Belgium).
>>2247574
because it's a general question and not something really specific and obscure?
What is the oldest historical depiction of a sexual act?
I just came here to confront you on the usage of tank for what looks to be a howitzer
the big bang
>>2247557
The first one
Hey guys.
I found this pendant lying around in my house, and I was wondering if any of you people know if the symbol has any historical significance/origin/meaning.
I'm not the best at history, but to me it looks similar to some symbols I've seen relating to the viking age.
Thoughts?
>>2247556
Most likely some new age fagottry from the 90's
>>2247562
You sure? It feels like I've seen this shit before
Bumping. Thought this might lead to an interesting discussion
So we have all had a million threads on why Rome fell, but what were some aspects that gave Rome stability and allowed them to last as long as they did against some of the disasters that they faced as an Empire?
>>2247506
Shitposting. Look for the Pompeii graffiti.
Most of their frontiers had easily defended natural borders. Formidable military institutions that were mostly meritocratic and word-class infrastructure.
Which way should you hold your spear?
the way on the left, if you held it overhead you would get btfo if you were attacked from the right
>>2247388
>if you were attacked from the right
This is why people fight in formations.
>>2247388
As on the left. The left stance allows for a forward stabbing motion, which engages the strength of the upper back, while the stance as shown on the right is reliant purely on the power of the upper arm in attacking. Keeping the arm below the heart also maintains blood flow, meaning the arm muscles won't tire as quickly. It also provides a greater amount of control to the weapon, as you keep it closer to your own center of mass rather than above and off on the periphery.
Really, the two images should be reversed; the right stance is how a guy behind the dude on the left would engage the enemy when in phalanx, since it's about the only practical way to do so.
Can sociology be saved?
>>2247356
no, he ruined it forever
have fun checking your privilege
last sociology course I took the professor was black and spent an entire class talking about BBC
Sometimes he'd intersperse his lectures with "I'm just a dumb nigger what do I know"
why does this shit even exist
>>2247441
>spent an entire class talking about BBC

Family History Thread,
Discuss ancestry and family history, not race or "muh heritage" it is suggested that you fill out pic related to the best of your abilities, with an emphasis on birth, death, and marriage dates along with any interesting biographical information. Not races or race baiting.
Just getting started?
Familysearch.com - Great free resource, best to start off here and then go to Ancestry once you're looking for something new (wait at least 3 months before making the jump to ancestry so you know you really want it)
findagrave.com - A useful free resource, look up your deceased parents, grandparents, great aunts or uncles, people you knew, it'll give you a good start on your great grandparents and above if you know absolutely nothing.
cyndislist.com - a great resource, recommended for once you know geographically where your family is from
ancestry.com - Only pay if you're really serious about genealogy, it's expensive but for the serious genealogist a vital tool
If you need some help getting started, just ask, give us your most recently deceased ancestor (a grandparent who passed) we normally need a name, death date/place, birth date/place, and a spouse, any information is of use.
Have a brick wall? Ask here, get some genealogical help from the experts.
Got any cool resources? Share them!
I keep wanting to add in new and useless information to my heritage chart, I'll finish it eventually.
Currently writing a book on my family history, you can check it out here, been working for about 3 days but the research is about a year and a half.

For anyone interested in early Missouri (1770s-1820s) ancestors I highly recommend Houck's history of Missouri, it's three volumes and available for free here: https://archive.org/search.php?query=creator%3A%22Houck%2C+Louis%2C+1840-1925%22
There are three separate texts, one for each volume.
Also http://www.sos.mo.gov/mdh/ is an invaluable source for all missouri history.
Mines too complicated. Dads side is fine, english on his dads side, Irish on his moms side. But my mums is a cluster fuck at the turn of the 20th. Both Grandparents were born in egypt but to greek and italian parents, who themselves may not have actually been greek and italian but displaced during the mess that was the Mediterranean during that time. Grandfathers side also supposedly came from money in the ottoman empire but that is family folklore more than any solid proof
Why didn't south eastern europe "evolve" like west and south europe?
Lots of rivers.
Ok weather...
Close to ancient Greece, later half part of Rome?
Why did nothing really relevant in history happen here?
Same with the Baltics.
To me these places are perfect geographical locations for great cultures and civilzations to form. There's like 3 massive rivers there.
Can some geography fag explain some uncommon knowledge about the area?
It's really mountainous and they were under constant attack from neighbors. They didn't have the benefit of unlimited coastline like Greece and thus travel was more difficult.
>>2247176
Because geography alone does not determine the evolution of culture. Sometimes (most of the time, really), people just don't care enough to get shit done; this is a universal thing.
relevant things DID happen.
what the fuck? OP do your research.
I'm really interested in the iron guard, post some quotes or archives about them

MULTIMUM CAPITANE
why kurds try to classify historically armenian land as kurdish?
>>2246970
could it be because the armenians got genocided and kurds live there now??? the wolrd may never now......
>>2246970
Because lands can't be hystorical
>>2246970
Cause they get away with murdering them and the Armenians are too cucked to do anything about it.
Why was the common era so boring up until the 18th century? The axial age alone was easily more exciting than the majority of the CE.
pic unrelated
>>2246888
The Renaissance was boring in itself, civilization was just beginning to rebound in the West. It was relatively peaceful, and peace is boring to read about.
Again I did RELATIVELY, so please everyone don't autism out on me
What you call "axial age" is just when three civilisations arrived at their revolutionary stage, which the West reached in the 18th century. I guess you find that more interesting than other stages, but that's just your opinion.
>>2246888
>OP is waiting for that one anon to shout 'CHRISTIANITY' and then responding with 'yea ikr christcucks ruined everything lol'
Friendly reminder to abandon Academia and obtaining a history degree in favour of Autodidacticism.

>not even good history, more like "hate yourself for being a CIS white male scum" history that overstates the prominence of women and minorities as a propaganda tool
>>2246879
Blame yourself for being an American. Historians are ussually biased to the right.
>Satan worship
If you actually believe in this stuff, you know very well you're on the losing side. Are Satanists retarded?
>>2246691
Satan is on the side of humanity, God doesn't give a shit or is tyrant.
>>2246700
>Sacrifice himself for us
>Doesn't give a shit
Hurr duuurr trv black metal from hell 666 logic
>>2246700
Is there any evidence to back this up?
Sounds (((made up))) to me
Click on that [342] and it'll take you to the source, OP.
Are you retarded? This is common knowledge.

This is plain embarrassing.
How can man reconcile himself with woman in an age where women can obtain any male suitor they want of any monetary worth and can go through life on easy mode?
No memes, please. This is a serious discussion about reconciling the differences between the sexes in our capitalist age.
