hey newbie audiophile here, do I need microphone to test frequency response or not?
>be me
>try frequency response test
>Speakers response rate is so damn retarded
>Earbuds/headphone response rate is near linear
what do?
>>55739151
How the fuck where you testing it without a microphone? Are you retarded?
>>55739236
Why are you so mad and rude? You are not even contributing to the thread.
>>55739236
>>55739260
I know the problem now, the microphone wasn't hooked up -_-
>See commercial about new Verizon data plans
>hmm let me check it out
>go to their website and see 4GB for $50
>alright, that's better than what i have now
>see there's a fucking $20 line fee you have to pay monthly
>it' now $70 a month
Well that sucks. I'm on cricket now and get 2.5GB for $40 a month but I want to know if something better exists.
T-Mobile 100/unlim/5GB $30
>>55739108
I've used T-Mobile before and the thing is that their coverage isn't good at all when I go out of town. Has this changed since around a year ago?

>i'ts an americans get fucked by their cellphone carriers episode
Why is this such a recurrent theme on the series?
So can MPV even compete

I can see literally no difference between these three images
>>55738920
I see a tad difference.
Linus Torvalds > Richard Stallman
You can't prove me wrong.
They're not badass enough to kill cia niggers.

>Caused Richard Stallman to through a hissy fit when people started calling Linux, Linux.
Based Linus
>>55738716
Richard Stallman is a reptilian who is trying to destroy capitalism. Say no to GNU and GPL, BSD is the master race. GPL and GNU is communism.
What does /g/ use for firewall hardware and software?
I'm finally building a freenas machine and figured I should go ahead and add a firewall to the mix. I'm thinking about just putting pfsense on an old pc I have lying around just running boinc, but I've also been thinking about buying a cheap, fanless micro box pc that would have a much better form factor and use less power (going to put it on a ups along with the server, switch, etc)
>What does /g/ use for firewall hardware and software?
common sense 2016 premium edition
>>55738689
Tinywall firewall for windows.
>>55738689
I made an ITX machine into a pfSense box a while back. cheap wireless router hadn't had a firmware update in five years, I didn't want that between my machines and the internet
GNU/Linux will never look this good.

Their entire business model is just to be the most expensive and lure in the idiots who think it's best because it costs more. Clearly their cards weren't expensive enough and people were buying other cards. It's just being sensationalised by the media in the hopes of making us regret gaining sovereignty.
Building a multi-GPU (6 or 8 GPU per server) server for WPA2 cracking. I don't care if the GPUs are brand new so I compiled a small list in terms of how much of performance I can get per dollar.RX 480 - 185000 - $280 - 660 PMK/USD
R9 280 - 101000 - $185 - 545 PMK/USD
GTX 1080 - 395000 - $800 - 493 PMK/USD
GTX 980 SO - 240000 - $285 - 842 PMK/USD
GTX 980 - 200000 - $285 - 701 PMK/USD
GTX 980 Ti - 240000 - $375 - 640 PMK/USD
GTX 780 Ti - 100000 - $330 - 303 PMK/USD
GTX 750 Ti - 42000 - $140 - 300 PMK/USD
I've not yet factored in the amount of power each of these cards use and how that affects my performance per dollar.
Anybody here have any other recommendation for GPUs I need to look into or any advice?

1080 and the worse 1070 dont support sli past 2 cards i think.
idk about server building so that might not matter
Why aren't more people using trackballs? Why aren't you using a trackball?
Three days ago I went out and bought my first trackball mouse and holy shit I feel like my entire has been a lie. I'm 27 and feel I have never actually used a computer properly until now.
In the past three days I haven't even touched my, MX Master. Other than using the MX Master to play games I seriously doubt it will get much use.
I use the logitech marble.
Not really by choice mind you I've just fucked my hands and wrists up to the point where a mouse is major RSI after ten minutes.
I quite enjoy using a trackball though. Useless for games.
>>55738527
Does that type of injury get better?
That's something I didn't even think about, it's probably good that I made the switch.
Because this is superior in every way
Sup /g/, I have a question.
I'm trying to get a turn for some paperwork, and you have to do it via internet. The turn system is fucked up and you have to be logged in at an specific time to find a free day and time range, basically you have to click first in the only date they give by day and then on the 'confirm' button. Since there are thousands of people trying at the same time, it clogges quickly and the turns are took immediately.
My question is, is it possible to make a script, software, etc that keeps clicking/looking for the date and confirm button to make sure you're the first one?
>>55737966
There's a software called Webscarab (the name may have changed though) which allows you to fiddle with http responses and requests, look it up.
Intercept the HTTP request and just replay it with the parameters you want
>>55737995
Thank you.
>>55738010
You should read up a bit on http request and responses, btw, you need to understand what you're doing.
I don't know how this website works in particular but if you have to be logged in you can simply use a tool that repeats a request each X number of seconds.
If webscarab doesn't have this feature try burpsuite free edition
The newer generation card is actually worse and more expensive than the last generation?

1070 performs better than 980Ti in both DX11 and DX12, where the fuck are you getting your shitty info?
Price of 1070 is still inflated due to it not being out that long yet.
Why does /g/ love mpv so much? How is it better than vlc?
I like it because it can use the icc profile of my monitor properly. It also has good performance and it does things like downmixing 5.1 to stereo automatically when using headphones.
>>55737851
circlejerks rarely make sense, neither does the one over mpv vs vlc.
Use whatever. Fuck it. It's not like either are filling up a hard drive or bloating up your ram.
It just werks and some other shit

I need a 4:3 tablet for reading mango, comics & PDF's. I have US$170. Should I get this one? 766p a shit but S-pen comes handy I guess, also case and accessories are important.
Bump?
I go tab e for cheep. Tab E is ok I guess. Screen could be better (colors aren't the greatest) and I miss CyanogenMod support.
If I were you I would save up a bit.
Get the Shield K1 tablet or Amazon Fire Tablet.
How the fuck do I stay motivated to learn programming? For once, I'd like to just get through an entire book. So far, I've gone through every Java book for beginners, and I ALWAYS give up at around 150-200 pages in, but then a few weeks/months later I start getting interested in learning again... and the cycle goes on like that.
Pic related is my next attempt to learn, this time with C++. Why is this so hard for me? Why do I keep coming back to this shit if I just lose interest shortly after?
If you can't maintain interest long enough to complete a single book, fuck off and go do something else. programming isn't for you.
I bet you don't even do the practice problems.
>>55737597
It's really hard to get going at first, because (from experience), you want to start programming and making things immediately, while in reality it'll be a while before you can make anything really useful.
Also, C++ is a terrible language to start with. It's absolutely massive, and often forces you to manually strain yourself over implementation details that are completely unimportant for learning/theory such as pointer maths, very ugly syntax, manual memory management (which you can mostly avoid once you learn more about the language, but certainly not as a beginner).
I recommend you start with a language such as Python or Haskell. You don't have to worry about implementation details, can write high-level code while learning a lot of theory (object oriented, strict programming in the case of Python, while functional, lazy, and pure programming in the case of Haskell).
Also, make sure the resources you're using for learning are for teaching PROGRAMMING with a language, not just teaching you the language. The latter often is meant for at least somewhat experienced programmers, and will use terminology and concepts currently foreign to you.
>>55738156
Fuck off with your Haskell. No one outside of the academic world uses it. As for python and everything else: right on.
