Imagine if you purchased a car, and 5 years later one morning you go out to drive it to work and find every wheel has been clamped and the doors sealed and the manufacturer has left a note telling you you need to pay them the price of the car all over again for you to continue driving you car

Is the touchscreen fad ever going to die?

Will smartphones ever go back to having actual physical buttons available instead of an exclusively touch based interface?

I'm particularly interested in minimizing my online footprint and secure e-mailing. I started to look it up, but have no leads. All I find is shitty clickbait "tips".

More specific questions I have:
- Do I make a mailserver myself, or are there secure ones?
- Is Tor kill? Last I've heard, an university could put up enough nodes to spoof the traffic. Any alternatives?

I just bought this laptop, an Acer Aspire E 15. It has backlighting on the keys, but the thing is, is that they turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity. Acer themselves, have confirmed that it is not possible to have the backlighting on at all times.

Is there something in the registry to edit where I can have them on at all time, this is extremely annoying.

Just like the title says, i have been an own builder for a while and i always seem to build a solid system but then i read that some new storage is just about to drop, or some ram wither bretter latency, or some GPU with more flops, or some fanbloodytastic motherboard that can do my bloody dishes is just around the corner. Point being i know there is always some new fandangled tech just out of reach when you buy but surely there must be an ideal time to buy where price/performance technology stagnation coalesce to form a diamond pc ?

I finally started reading SICP yesterday, and using MIT/GNU Scheme, and it's really enjoyable.
This formal way of thinking about programming is unique, and I'll be so happy to add Scheme to my paradigms of thinking.
I wish I had believed in people years ago when they asked me whether I'd read SICP.
