>need a new gpu that has hdmi, dvi-d and dvi-i/vga output
>the only viable option is the gigabyte g1 gtx 980ti
>still costs more than $500 here
why is this allowed?
why did AMD and nVidia forget to put analog output on their new cards?
how am I gonna use my CRT now?

>forget

They didn't forget.
You're just a fucking dinosaur at this point.
Most cards don't even have real analog output anymore from the ASIC/Framebuffer.
Get an active adapter

And believe me, grandpa, no game that requires a NEW GPU you won't notice the <1ms delay an active adapter introduces. You're only gonna notice that shit in CPMA/UT2k3 and other games that REALLY don't need a GPU as new as this.

What code language should I learn? C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, PHP, or Ruby/Rails?
101 posts and 8 images submitted.
>>
Python. Always Python for the first language in my opinion. Try learnpythonthehardway.com. Even if someone disagrees you might as well give it a shot instead of just wondering what to learn first. Eventually you'll move on to other languages so now is a good time to get the basics of programming under your belt.

What are some good university courses to take that can earn a reliable ok+ amount?

I'm starting a web design and development course this September in a pretty good uni but I'm having second thoughts (I can change course if I need to in the first few moths).

Also what are some courses that /g/ have taken?

None, the only course (of action) is to install Gentoo and be your own teacher.

i mean nvidia does it better. they truly do.

but the difference is so fucking small that only /g/ autist shills will notice the difference. and who cares about them.

and desu, whoever ends up buying a 1060 is a poor soul lol.

im fucking happy with ny nitro+

AMD used to have an issue with it in certain titles, but they've gotten progressively better. Its not something I'd ever worry about. Basically autistic hair splitting for fanboys to throw at each other.

Can anyone explain to me why people are waiting months for the Asus 1080 OC edition to get stock while the standard edition you could easily just OC yourself and its in stock, am I missing anything really?
6 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
i have the standard strix 1080

the overclocking on it is horrible. it barely budges past stock.

i've heard that it OCs just as well after flashing the bios with the OC version but i'm not willing to accept the risks of firmware modification for 3-4 extra frames
>>

>the overclocking on it is horrible. it barely budges past stock.
You're either a retard or asus is fucking with their customers really hard. It could be both.
>>
>>55781014
They're just binning the top end ASICs as OC cards

I don't really care, even near stock the strix 1080 is still a silent beast

>tfw IT is dying and development is really the future
Who /disgruntled IT employee/ here? Planning to switch to development at some point because I think a majority of IT jobs will:

1) become more automated so less IT workers will be needed
2) become more saturated with Pajeets
3) developers will be able to do our jobs as tools become easier to use

Never. They know basic stuff, but they're too half-assed about it.

> NodeJS
> root file permissions everywhere because fuck it
> one / partition for everything
> it just works
I'm too afraid to fix it.

>he still builds *only* a 32-bit binary for his Linux program/game

Nothing makes me rage more. Who has even used a 32-bit version of Linux in the last 10 years?

There is literally no fucking reason to compile anything in 32-bit any more. Even Dwarf Fortress moved to 64-bit finally.

Should I upgrade to windows 10? I have two days to decide.
11 posts and 5 images submitted.

Yes, it's a great OS. I didn't like the appearance at first but you get used to it after a few months. You should upgrade before the offer expires, you can always revert back to Windows 7/8 afterwards and even then you keep your license for Windows 10.
