I wish someone would do testing on 16 core+ xeons, BIOS limit them to 4-6 cores but still retain the large L3 cache.

Even at a lower frequency simply due to the sheer cache size it should be competitive with consumer 4GHz i7s

What would happen if Intel took one of their 6 core CPUs, and replaced 2 of those core areas completely with cache memory?
