What version of windows is best right now? Its mostly for games. Can win10 be botnet free?
Win 10 is the best for games, but it cannot be made botnet free.

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this puporse for safety purposes.
1) Use the Live ISO (if your distribution of choice has one) to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the GNU/Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the GNU/Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

Boot with UEFI or BIOS for a ZFS root?
BIOS with GRUB seems simpler but I wouldn't mind getting rid of it.
>>56109246
stop complicating your life.
>>56109279
Because enabling one kernel option for efi stub support is so fucking hard.
GRUB isn't needed on EFI systems.
As much as I hate the "gaming pc builder websites like cyberpower, I have to give them credit where credit is due.
This is pretty bad ass.

How does the heat affect the life of the panel? I'd worry about the CPU or GPU spots affecting the screen over time.
>>56109067
Monitors already get pretty hot in some spots.
rip Xiaomi
looks like all the shilling on /g/ could not save it
What about LeTV?
Test
Xiaomi has no band support, its biting them in the ass.

I just picked this up from a dump for $1500. Did I do good bros? I dont know computers that well lol
He said the specs are:
Amd A6-5400k processor
Windforce 960 2gb
6gb ram
400w psu I think
5x 100gb 5400rpm drives
This is what was said on the paper he gave me.
Any good? Looks like in good shape to me but idk I usually play xbox
Is it bait?
1500 bucks for this shit? Holy fuck. Are you serious?
dont you mean $150
>>56108880
If you spent $1500 on that you got so massively ripped off its not even funny.
Does Google have its own internal imageboard? I just noticed they have their own internal almost everything. I also don't see many people here posting from Silicon Valley. Why is it the case? It's always freshmen struggling with FizzBuzz.

Anyone here running OpenVPN on dedicated hardware? I picked the low hanging fruit and setup the pre-made vmware image for openvpn access server but it has a 2 user limit unless you pay for more.
I hear PFsense has openvpn baked in but does it still have that limit to two users at a time? I'd like to build a dedicated server and host 5-6 users at once over 1gb internet. Right now I just run two versions of access server on ESXi.
>>56108790
no, the one in pfsense is the community version, no access server, it has unlimited client connections.
otherwise you could install openvpn from the repo on a vanilla ubuntu/debian/centos whatever, and configure the server there.
yes, it requires manual edit of the config file and the creation of a pki.
>>56108790
>but does it still have that limit to two users at a time?
Uh, no. What limit?
>>56109927
he installed the proprietary "access server" it requires a license if you want to have more than the 2 trial client connections
Should encryption be legal? The french government recently came out and said encryption chatting apps was preventing them from acting on terorrists.
Honestly shoukd we keep encryption around in this day and age for public use?
Yes. Even if if were illegal, what would stop terrorists or other criminals from developing their own software for encrypted communication?
Fuck your fear mongering. Keep the Internet an unregulated wild west. Keep encryption strong, unbreakable, and completely unrestricted. If you want to stop terrorists, stop letting them into your country, and start bombing them in theirs.
>>56108706
They dont have the knowledge to.
Remove crypto libraries
Remove crypto papers from outside academics
And youre left with sand people who have no way to know how to code up AES, set up servers for secure end to end, etc
I wanted to pirate an android app (Sygic Navigation) in order to save 30 Bucks. Can I scan the file for virus/backdoor somewhere?
>>56108630
there's antivirus for android but unless they've already found the specific virus they're probably not going to detect it
https://www.virustotal.com/
>the good ole virus from apps meme
that meme was literally created by old swiftkey developers to ruse people into buying their apps. i heard they went free now. im not sure since i have an iphone for now.

Updates:
- Title bars now have an icon and a title
- As suggested all fonts are now 11px ms sans serif like in Windows 95
- Minor fixes
Todo:
- Style things in the "desktop" area
Instructions:
- I've only tested this on vanilla 4chan. For better results make sure you have the Microsoft Sans Serif font available (included in most windows versions, or get it from here: http://fontzone.net/download/microsoft-sans-serif)
- For even better results disable cleartype or any other font antialiasing you have
Gitlab:
https://gitlab.com/fermata/4chan95
was much cooler without titlebars
>>56108589
I suggest you add this:filter: url("data:image/svg+xml,<svg xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'><filter id='filters' color-interpolation-filters='sRGB'><feComponentTransfer><feFuncR type='discrete' tableValues='0.25 0.5 0.75 1' /><feFuncG type='discrete' tableValues='0.25 0.5 0.75 1' /><feFuncB type='discrete' tableValues='0.25 0.5 0.75 1' /><feFuncA type='identity'/></feComponentTransfer></filter></svg>#filters") !important;
}
It reduces colors on images, making them more win95-style.

It's absurd to think that corporations spend millions creating software then government entities spend magnitudes more on reverse engineering and hacking in to it. Was proprietary software a mistake?
