Anyone here running OpenVPN on dedicated hardware? I picked the low hanging fruit and setup the pre-made vmware image for openvpn access server but it has a 2 user limit unless you pay for more.
I hear PFsense has openvpn baked in but does it still have that limit to two users at a time? I'd like to build a dedicated server and host 5-6 users at once over 1gb internet. Right now I just run two versions of access server on ESXi.

no, the one in pfsense is the community version, no access server, it has unlimited client connections.
otherwise you could install openvpn from the repo on a vanilla ubuntu/debian/centos whatever, and configure the server there.
yes, it requires manual edit of the config file and the creation of a pki.

he installed the proprietary "access server" it requires a license if you want to have more than the 2 trial client connections

I'm running it in docker (lul) on centos. The docker package has a tutorial in the README. If you want to install it bare, just follow your distro's wiki.

Just search for an install script. Took 10 minutes on my Raspi
