I need to open up my laptop but it's not opening. I just need to pop it's guts back in

I had to repair one of those laptops for a friend :)

Not tech support. Google the fucking model number and if you're lucky there's a video of some clown disassembling it with a shaky cam view at 240p
I sold my buddy a radeon 7770 for like 50 bucks and hes having a hard time finding the drivers for it. What does he need to get those drivers ?
The most recent AMD crimson drivers work just fine for the 7770. Go to AMD's website and they should be right there.

>sir, we noticed a lot of people blocked some of our telemetry updates, and the Windows 10 adoption rate wasn't as high as we hoped because many people uninstalled the Get Windows 10 update
>well make sure that shit can't happen anymore! All updates in one patch now!
Fuck.
This.

Learn to read you fucking mongoloid. You'll still be able to avoid "reccomended" updates all you want.
>>56111016
Except some of the recommended updates were worth installing, and some were not. With this new approach you either install all or none.
>>56111029
They were always stupid shit like "fixes time zone/character issue for neo-zimbabwean locale". Willing to bet you can still extract and install individual patches if you're determined enough.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

#BlackLaptopsMatter
Have you ever been bullied for programming on a Thinkpad?
>screwing around with the Gentoo installation CD
>sloppy_fingers.webm
>type sda instead of sdc
>end up nuking Windows
>no_turning_back.jpg
>install Gentoo with the handbook
>everything goes OK, even get Wifi to work
>now to install GRUB2
># grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot

>efibootmgr: EFI variables are not supported on this system.
>Installation finished. No error reported.
>not bootable, the HDD doesn’t even appear when I disable CMS mode
>google the issue
>nobody talking about UEFI-configured boot loaders has two boot partitions like the handbook recommends
>for some reason, sda2 went from fat32 to fat16
What do?
>>56110864
if you cannot partition and install grub manually on a uefi system, ubuntu is for you.
>>56110913
Sorry, I’m not a macfag. :^)
Seriously, keep playing with Ubuntu until you get it.
Not just the Web browser mind.
>Install Windows 10
>Microsoft Edge is trash
>Try to install Firefox
>"Download Firefox!" Appears in search bar
>Click it
>Edge downloads bloatware malware trash instead
I refuse to believe this was an accident.
Wait....so you tried to install Firefox from the Windows search bar?
>>56110795
Unrelated, but when will this fucking Windows 10 meme end? We fucking get the point already, Windows 10 is trash. Stop fucking making threads about it. /g/ has been the shittiest board lately because of it.
>>56110871
It pulled whatever from the first Bing search result, I guess. Which is guaranteed to be 100% pure AIDScancer.
I'm in 12th grade now, Is it too late to start learning programming?
I know basic stuff in Pascal, pointers, arrays etc.
The most advanced shit I made was a console Pong and a Snake in Pascal and some basic code like this: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/b0321058ea41b845e838a38dd84f30f7
Should I start learning C# or what?
>>56110777
If you want to learn, you'll get somewhere. Can't say how good you'll do, but while being young helps, having determination and drive helps a lot fucking more.
>>56110777
too late, trips
you should have started when inside your dad's ballsack

Funny meme. I mean I participated in some programming competitions and there where many autist 6th a 7th graders who were better than me and every other attending classmate of mine (our teacher now is complete shit btw, because previous one got cancer). I just can't imagine what the actual fuck are they doing all day.
If you use an IDE you don't really know how to code and don't deserve to call your self a programmer
I'm fine with this
>>56110770
>posts a picture of vim configured as an IDE
sage
if you use a calculator you don't really know how to do math and don't deserve to call your self a mathematician.
seriously what does it matter as long as the output is good
What the fuck do you do with all your flash drives, /g/?
I have around a dozen of them but I'm only using four. Now some guy is closing down his office and offered to give me a bunch more.
Nothing. They're obsolete.
Some people still use them to install a new OS sometimes
I keep debian and fedora on 2 usb sticks, and I infect the others with malwares and I drop them in parking lots to hack the planet
>>56110813
>Format it before mounting

Whats your opinion on scratch?
better than java
>>56110663
It's a good way to introduce someone to programming, if they're afraid of it or have a pre-conceived notion that it's hard.
Just another failed attempt to make programming accessible to demographics that want nothing to do with it
Do you use a case on your phone? Are they worth having?
>>56110609
No.
no
I use a bumper. I want the protection but I also want to see my phone's back.
Since when did Russians become so good at competitive programming? Pic related is wins at ACM-ICPC, taken from here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACM_International_Collegiate_Programming_Contest#Winners

You wake up and find yourself in the body of Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, the CEO of Nokia, The date is June 23, 2010 - one day before the introduction of the iPhone 4.
Your goal is to save Nokia from its ultimate downfall.
You notice a recommendation of the board to invite a veteran in the industry called Stephen Elop, What do you do?
