Is it even possible to get close to Windows in terms of battery life?
Do all those tools you hear about actually do something to get the device run lean without crippling it?
Linux with a highly optimized kernel gives me really good battery life on my T420. 12 hours running Gentoo vs 10 running Windows 7
>>56105140
I tried Mint several times and my laptop usually ran quite hot like it isn't clocking down when idling and burned through my battery quickly.
What distro do you use?
>>56105173
Gentoo
Basically any source based distro will give you good battery life

I don't think V knows what HDDs will last any longer than 5 minutes.
Why does it matter? Just download the stuff again. You don't need 100 games you'll never play right away.

THANK YOU BASED NVIDIA
Basically what happened is that they stopped the M series and simply put in the same graphics cards with lower clocked cores but to compensate they added more cores. Gaming laptops might be finally decent now. Cooling is still a big problem though but otherwise the cards perform as good as their desktop counterparts. Without throttling the 1060 and 1070 should capable of destroying the 980m.
I'm wondering if we're going to see eGPUs integrated in a custom chassis with dedicated cooling in the future for non gaming laptops that have Thunderbolt 3 ports. There was a proof of concept with a 960m.
The jump from 28nm to 14nm was massive. I'm wondering what's going to happen from 14nm to 7nm.
Whats going on with this?
you guys still down to work on it?
>>56104640
I asked them when they are going to release anything, two days ago.
Someone said they were going to release it(git, it still needs work) that day but later at late night. I guess they still have work to do...

A friend got ransomwared by Pajeets who want $500. Now, India is a country that is too stupid to install sewers, so these 'jeets probably stored the encryption key as a string literal. If thats the case all Id need to do is dump the memory and look for the only string literal that isnt a hash. My problem is I have no idea how to probe the memory of an encrypted HD. What tools do I need?
