I personally like Antergos.
I used Antergos in the last but the latest releases were shit for me. I sometimes had problems installing it, like partitioning erros, GRUB errors and other things. I hated when it picked the closest mirrors and the mirrors in my country are shit. I learned how to install Arch and that was it. I'm happy now.
>>56115495
Archbang because antergos ears too many of my resources and I'm too stupid for just arch.

I keep a text file on my phone with the installation adapted for my laptop. Just in case I need it.

I want to learn Go as my first programming language.
Advice for self-teaching would be appreciated, and any resources are a big plus.
Is this a bad idea? Why?
Go is basically C, NO FUN EDITION.
You get all the drawbacks of C, with none of the benefits.
You can't write small, loosely written logical structures like in C.
You can't perform pointer arithmetic, defeating the entire point of using pointers in the first place.

you're a fucking idiot.

For what reason? Docker?
Finally ditched my shitty AMD build for this.

Long time macfag here... been using OSX&MBP for 6+ years now.
My MBP started dying from old age (it's 7 years old) and since I couldn't afford a new one, I decided to build a PC instead... with an older i5 and nvidia 1070. Kept the costs around ~$1000 or so.
I started off with Win7 because a friend gave me a license for it. Win7 looks like shit with all that extra chrome... plus it's dated as fuck. For the life of me, I couldn't get audio to work right and I could constantly hear pops & clicks. Apparently, Gigabyte knows about this but you need Win8+ to fix it. There's other OS issues with Win7... constant software inconsistencies that I didn't like.
So I plunged in and downloaded Win10. Win10 is marginally better. I like the modern look but it's beta software. Sleep doesn't even work well. My PC constantly wakes up when I put it to sleep. Command line is marginally better than Win7 (you can copy&paste easily) but it's total shit when it comes to POSIX. No Quicklook, search is barely usable, File Explorer is shit and I'm still amazed how MS can't copy Finder.
So I decided to dual-boot with Linux. Installed Mint. Initially it was OK (it looked nice) but it's just completely inconsistent and amateurish. I've tried to set it so I can use my mouse wheel for "Natural Scrolling" but even that's inconsistent: works in Firefox and few other apps, doesn't work in any of the Mint/Cinnamon GUIs.
I'm also yet to find a good PC keyboard (Magic Keyboard is still unsurpassed) & a good mouse as well (none of that fucking 1990s wheel shit).
All in all, I regret buying a PC :( With all the Apple's failings, everything just works and it's miles ahead. I'm now stuck with all you plebs in PC world... at least for year.
Any keyboard/mouse advice?
tl;dr: PC world is a giant fucking mess: HW barely works and the OSes are all fucking garbage. OSX is like a decade ahead. I regret my decision. :(
Should have installed gentoo.
>>56115320
>Should have installed gentoo.
And what would I gain exactly? It would still behave inconsistently.

How do you know?
Required PSU for rx460? I don't want my shit to fry, but I also dont want to spend money on another psu. Current one is a 450watt silver psu.

350 watt I meant
should be ok, add up your total system wattage though
460 is 75w TDP

Okay, So Debian Stretch (testing) is by next year Q1 (proposed) is going to be the Debian Stable release. Does anyone know here if Stretch will be supporting UEFI Secure Boot? I haven't heard anything, and I don't even think currently Stretch testing offers Secure Boot? Anyone hear anything about this changing, by the time Stretch turns Stable?
>>56115128
use Devuan
>>56115480
I use debian stable for a reason. Emphasis on the stable part.

What are a few difficult personal projects I can do in c++ that
>will force me into the difficult aspects of the language
>will impress, or at least slightly interest, a potential employer
I ask while posting this guide because I don't know which ones would be difficult for C++ especially (as opposed to in general). I could make my way through most of these in Python, I think.
bomp
>>56115109
Ask in /dpt/ thread, you'll get more discussions and memes there.
Good question as well, i'd like some expanded language challenges, great for learning practical skills

Hello guys so I decided I don't want to get tracked by windows (the vision of sensitive info being sold to third party seems disgusting to me).
So I'm here to ask you what type of OS should I download? I was thinking about some type of Linux but I really don't know what to stick with.
Also does downloading another OS stops Microsoft from tracking my info? Do I have to somehow unistall windows for it to happen?
>>56115073

Because you don't have microsoft spyware in your system

Format hard disk and install Linux or BSD

Why would they make it so short? You couldn't even drive an average SUV under that thing. Would it really of cost that much more to build it an extra 5 feet taller?
>>56115206
I'm not sure, but most people don't drive mass SUV, like the US does. And besides, why own a bigger car than a sedan in a city
