Give me one good reason to install Gentoo.

>Give me one good reason to install Gentoo.
Don't.
Compiling everything makes things a lot faster but it's not worth it unless you have a 20 year old machine.
>>56630753
Install Gentoo.
It's over.
Microsoft won.

So how much longer until apple abandons the pc business?
>>56630689
hopefully very soon
What would be cool is if Apple released macOS as an ISO file for people to install it on everyday PCs.
>>56631416
Then there'd be no reason to buy their hardware. Only reason to buy Apple hardware is because their operating systems are simply better in both design and functionality. Basically it looks amazing and actually works. Windows or any other linux based OSes have acheived any of the above.
What's the lightest version of Ubuntu? I thought it was lubuntu, but for some reason Ubuntu mate runs smoother on my pc. I also tried mint and mint Mate but they both ran worse than Ubuntu mate.
Is Ubuntu mate my best choice?
It's an old d2500 micro atx board I'm hoping to use as a HTPC.
do they not do core rootfs releases anymore?
>>56630680
Lightest Ubuntu is Ubuntu with no gui
>>56630994
Well obviously I want a gui, otherwise I'd have just used Ubuntu minimal?
What's a lighter DE?
E17?
Why is Linux mint a separate distro from Ubuntu? Isn't it just Ubuntu LTS with a new DE?
Why is Ubuntu a separate distro from Debian? Isn't it just Debian with unity?
That's the power of the GPL license.
No.
No.
>>56630572
Neither of those distros are licensed under the GPL.
>>56630619
No?
post your scam stories or scam photos from facebook/craigslist/where ever
when ever i see stuff like this on craigslist i wonder if the seller is intentionally mislabeling their product, or if they really don't know.

le bump`
Is it possible to have 22 cycles in a graph with 5 vertices? Isn't the max number of cycles 15 with 5 vertices?
Bump.. But no idea what are you talking about.. There's a board for maths
No it is not possible unless some are duplicate or you orientate them
uh wait i was assuming you counted them correctly.
in your complete graph there are like 10*1 3-cycles, 5*3 4-cycles, and 1*12 5-cycles
So all these people bitching about the removal of the 3.5mm Jack from New devices, have you seriously not embraced wireless earphones?
How embarrassing...
muh pistons
why would i? they are shit and hasle, remote wireless charging on the other hand would have made me consider an apple phone in 6 years
Never used fucking headphones with my phones, so this manchild shit is irrelevant, to be honest family.
When i look at a LED light and then look away, the LED light appears multiple times on my vision.
See gif, green crosshair is where my eyes are focused.
Someone explain this
Your eyeballs technically shut off for a fraction of a second when they're moving. Look at a spinning ceiling fan then quickly look away.
You'll notice that the fan appears still for an instant when you dart your eyes away. This is the last image your brain processes before your eyes refocus.
The flicker rate on some LED bulbs might have an exaggerated effect.
>>56630162
Ah ok. thx.
This effect also appears when i move the led
( and my eyes don't move)
>>56630126
It's an effect coming from the saccades (the flicking movement of your eyes), combined with the way your brain fills in images while your eyes are moving, and the refresh rate of the bulb (it's flashing at 50hz if you're in the US, 60hz elsewhere). Sometimes the flashing is more noticeable with LEDs than incandescents because the incandescents still glow a bit inbetween electrical pulses so it smooths out the effect while LED bulbs turn on and off much quicker.

tricked my dad into putting a slow, master passworded linux OS on my toshiba laptop.
their OS requires me to go to their shop whenever i need to update or install new programs.
Would removing the harddrive, putting in a fresh new one, and installing windows 7 onto said harddrive get rid of the old linux OS?
yes
also
>replacing linux with inferior windows
pleb
>>56630095
oh thank god, his linux is shit, and isn't compatible with MOST stuff.
he 'designed' it himself apparently.
>>56630056
Yes, but if you need to ask you shouldn't do it. They did you a favor by not giving you admin privileges.
If you're going through the trouble, might as well get an ssd and put a recent Linux distro on it. Fedora is pretty easy to install and not shit once you add rpm fusion.
is using a download manager worth it?
how do they work? do they even work/do anything useful?
