Is Windows 7 safe to use today? I have Ubuntu 16.04 but I'm just not as comfortable with Linux as I am Windows. Everything feels so different and it sucks when I try to use a guide on how to solve a network/internet problem and there's only a solution for the Windows OS and not the Linux because it seems Windows is that much more common.

Options:
A. Go to Win7. Get drivers. Turn off updates.
B. Switch to Debian (better for newbs imo)
C. Read. Q/A. Break. RTFM. Do. Git Good.
Here at microsoft we are deeply concerned over your choice of operating system. Did you know that windows 10 is compatible with all of windows 7 software, and it can run Bash? You get the beat of both worlds with windows 10. Upgrade today for $99 and we will donate .60 rupees to the National Indian IT job foundation, ensuring kids like you can have a future in IT and software development.

Use the OS that loves you back.
Although windows 7 is going to be abandoned by microsoft because they failed to come up with a better OS. New CPUs will not support windows 7
Call me crazy but Google will kill Microsoft in its own game of manhandling

Crazy; in a good way.
Windows is only useful for AAA video game titles, malware and viruses.

It's safe but if you've already made the switch just look for a better Distribution. You could try Debian like first post suggested, or Fedora, or anything else but Ubuntu.
