Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
How do you feel about it now?
How do you feel about this overall?

Idk, I'm just in a tough point in life where I'm unsure what to do and I'm not sure whether to go for tech course or multimedia or prostitution or what.

So some insight would be appreciated.

How did you get into... all this? Was it just instinct or what?

>Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
IDK my dad is an Engineer at Sony, my mom is a maths teacher. I probably got influenced
>Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
Not much nerdy. Wtf is left brained
>How do you feel about it now?
What? I'm doing Bachelors in Engineering, have a job and I'm happy with it
>How do you feel about this overall?
See above

If you're passionate about tech, go and study it. Even if you hate it in the future, you'll have a skill that is in demand and easy to move into another career. Don't go and do a fucking liberal arts degree and be no use to any company

I never touched any of this stuff until 17.when i finished school. Took it cause i liked vidya. Now i love programming so that shit every day. Have a full time job as a web dev. Good times.

>Why?
Whole school shoved the STEM meme down my throat
>Are you much nerdy/left-brained
I have shit social skills and browse /g/
>How do you feel about it now
I don't like "programming" at all, and learning about technology is kind of interesting, but would rather spend time doing other things.

Seriously, you might be like the thousands of other young millennials that grew up playing video games as "inspiration" for doing something computer-related, but don't cuck yourself by getting into something you aren't interested in. Only YOU can answer this question for yourself, OP. Do what feels right, in the moment, and all else will follow.

t. guy who decided to pursue art instead of tech and is 100% happy with the choice

>Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
desu I just got into it because I thought vintage PCs and code and mainframes/servers looked cool

>Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
If by nerdy you mean really into video games then yeah

>How do you feel about it now?
Don't really care about consumer electronics anymore. That isn't to say I don't own any, I'm just content with the stuff I own even though they're a little old and hardly flashy or impressive (mainly use a macbook air and cheapo android), and I don't get excited about new releases even though I can afford whatever these days. I have a CE degree and was able to get a job writing firmware in assembly for small company that makes a very niche device, which I like well enough, though I worry about future job prospects. Not too into the more heady/theoretical aspects of CS/CE mostly since I'm too dumb/lazy for it, though it's interesting. Don't care at all for the trendy shit like web/app dev and social media (no offense to those in this field, it's just not interesting to me as either an engineer or end user).

>Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
It started from studying malware and doing slight PC repair and it caused a snowball effect.
>Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
Literally anywhere on the internet
>How do you feel about it now?
I don't want to stop learning about tech and want to keep going forward.
>How do you feel about this overall?
I find it interesting and enjoyable. I can see myself doing this even when I'm old.

>Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
Fell for the "well-rounded person," meme and got a shit-lib arts degree. Couldn't land a decent job so I taught myself PHP and SQL to get a new career path.

>Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
Not really. I liked to read shit and used computers a lot but never anything involved. Most math I had prior to changing my career was Calc and some Stats.

>How do you feel about it now?
It saved my bacon so I am grateful. If not for programming I'd probably be going to wait tables or something.

>How do you feel about this overall?
If I had to do it again I would have skipped college and learned PHP or JS out of highschool. It's relatively quick and painless with heaps of job openings.

>How did you get into... all this? Was it just instinct or what?
For me it was just desperation. I was looking at what jobs were in my general vicinity and saw a bunch of SQL and PHP shit so I went for it knowing the only alternative was definitely worse.
>>
>Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
Always had a thing for it, I was reclusive when I was younger, played a lot of consoles and once I got my first PC I wouldn't get off it.

>Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
I have a thing for engineering in a very broad sense. Computer technology best pairs up with my disinterest in seeing people face to face

>How do you feel about it now?
It's a part of me, I took a computer science course and have a career in IT management

>How do you feel about this overall?
Confused because part of me wants to be a photographer too, I quit my job in IT and moved to Canada to pursue photography but computing is something I'll always have and might still settle on
>>
Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
I had a hard time making any friends due to language barriers, so I devoted my free time to dicking around with desktops as a kid & it went from there.
Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
none of those... in fact i'm quite sociable
How do you feel about it now?
It took over my life and wish I could have been doing something else.
>>
My grandfather used to sit my on his lap while he was playing dos games when I was an infant. Then I had my own by age four (1995) and I used to game on it. Wipeout, lemmings, draken, ect
>>
>Why did you get into technology, programing, etc?
when I was a kid I had all these great video game ideas, and I emailed them to Nintendo but they didn't understand my genius, so I decided I'd learn how to make them myself. I made some shitty games with Game Maker drag and drop but didn't get too into it. Then a bunch of years later when I was ~12 I hung out in IRC a lot and there was a channel bot that kept chat statistics and created a cool web page with them every half hour. I wanted something like that for my own channel but the script was $20 so I set out to learn how to make IRC chat bots myself so I wouldn't have to pay. That was when I really got into it.
>Were/are you much nerdy/"left brained"?
yes. I have no friends or ability to make them
>How do you feel about it now?
I wish I hadn't spent so much time on it, because other people are still better than me. I feel like I will never know enough to catch up, and I have been at it for years.
