What's your opinion about this alternative Ganoo+Lyhnuks distro? It features a radically different file system hierarchy where each installed program resides in its own directory.
>>57082196
Actually that's pretty awesome, but I can't imagine how is the system not going to break
>>57082196
>each installed program resides in its own directory.
Kinda like Windows?
>>57082225
> Having a comprehensive folder structure breaks the system
This is the year of the linux desktop for realsies guys
It's been a while since I've seen one of these threads. I'll start
>Hey anon I bought a gayming computer
>Shit dude, didn't I tell not to do that without me?
>i5 3470
>550Ti
>$800
>anon how do I overclock this?
Some old lady at my office:
>"Something something hackers hacking yahoo accounts."
>I turn around and say "What?"
>"They keep hacking my friends' Yahoo accounts. And they've hacked mine before."
>"Hmm... Okay."
>"Have you ever been hacked?"
>"No..."
>"You're lucky."
>I nod in agreement and choke autism. Was going to give her advice but changed my mind. I turn around and carry on with my work and she makes the following remark:
>"They find Macbooks harder to hack."
>Silently cringe.
It was in the past ofc, I don't work in that retardhole anymore.
>start my CS degree
>talk to one of the other guys on the course
>"So what sort of fields are you interested in?"
>"I don't know, I just want to make video games"
>>57082193
>2009
>decide to buy gaming computer for gaming
>pay 2000 dollars for piece of shit alienware laptop
>realize how overrated gaming is
>now use a 180 dollar refurbished elitebook hp 8470p
>more comfy than the alienware
>in some ways more powerful than than the alienware(has a better processor)
i wish could get that 2000 dollars back
Hey there, /g/. Is anyone here familiar with scripting for Neverwinter Nights 1? The 2003 bioware game.
I have been trying to learn how to script commands, emotes and learn how to use different variables, etc, but it just doesn't click well with me.
Don't get me wrong, I am not some retard who can't learn it, but the fact there isn't even a "beginners tutorial" guide and the only video guides there are do not go as far to explain what I have to do for my own personal interests.
Honestly, I'd rather just have someone write up scripts and/or explain to me what I need to do, and be given some "templates" I could edit and make magic with, with clear instructions on WTF I am doing.
If anyone is able to get back to me on this, please leave a post here, or add WhiteWarmonger on steam. Cheers.

>/g/ - Technology
People still play that?
Good times, the persistent world servers. The better ones had a strong sense of community, both in-character and in a meta sense with respect to the server's direction and development.
WoW etc.. seemed inferior in comparison, and yet people abandoned NWN in droves when purpose-made 3D MMO's started getting big.
>>57081977 >when google tells you to use /g/ for these kinds of tech, and a user tells you to fuck off
/v/ is too autistic to handle this kind of shit, deal with it.
>>57082000
Yeah, some folks still do. I do, for one. Trying to make the mod I always wanted to when I was younger.

"For those unfamiliar with the Windows Store, it's a barren wasteland, hitherto restricted to 'Metro' tiled interface apps, and more recently Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps. This is why no-one goes there."

>>57081907
It's getting better. Once more devs get access to port their Win32 apps over to containerized versions, I'll be uninstalling them and grabbing them from the Windows Store. See Evernote for an example. No more droppings left around my PC when I install and uninstall random shit.
>>57082001
Also UWP is an improvement over Win32, and you can sideload apps. I think MS is waiting on Surface phone to get more devs into the store.
I do check the store fairly often, but most of the apps I use are either Win32 apps, or don't have good UWP equivalents.
In theory, you should be able to make one app and have it on Xbox, Windows Mobile, Tablets, Windows PC.
Google/Apple basically doing the same thing with Android except going from mobile -> desktop instead of desktop -> mobile.

That's what chocolatey's for.
It may be a stupid question but can you hack a Facebook account?
This guy has been threatening me that he hacked my Facebook account. I already changed my password 2 times already. I want to get even with him. How can I know this guy's e-mail address?
Sorry for bad english not my mother tongue.

(at 24'') enough pixels to comfortably browse two websites side by side? At the moment I have a 1440x900 and it's JUST not quite enough pixels. Should I go 21:9?

1920x1200 > 192x1080
Make one window 960pixels wide and see if it's comfortable?
Personally I leave my browsers around 1280. It's pretty rare for me to do two at a time, but on my 2560x1600 monitor I could, easily.

Hi,
I would like to route my connection somehow so the house owner who manages the wifi here cannot trace my browsing habits. But I don't want to load a slow-ass Tor whenever I want to check something sensitive, just to go around this supervision.
The solution has to be free.
>>57081639
the solution is fucking back off to >>>/wsg/, the stupid questions thread or the tech support subreddit
>>57081639
>The solution has to be free.
some botnet vpn sounds like your best bet then.

So systemd can hotpatch itself, even though being on PID1?
Noice
>>57081473
I don't know what you tried to prove. You didn't verify that it was still running by issuing a "systemctl" command.
