Why don't people like Unity?
>>57080532
People don't like loonix in general. Can't blame them since it was just a hobby OS created for users to rice it as much as possible and post their desktops somewhere on the web.
>>57080545
I'm asking more why Linux users (people who do like Linux) don't seem to like Unity.
coz its detected atm just like aimware
Ok, let's see what your hardware is capable of. Get a movie that matches your screen resolution so it's pixel for pixel - my Galaxy S7 Active has a native resolution of 2560x1440 so I grabbed a 1440p version of TimeScapes (awesome flick) h.264 encoded with a stereo AAC audio soundtrack.
Charge the battery to full, set the display brightness to ~50% and start playing the video in whatever video player you want set to loop that video again and again and don't mess with your device till it gets to 1% battery (you're allowed to check it from time to time, of course).
When you're done, post the screenshot of the power usage overall and then the SOT (screen on time).
See if you can beat this, you might, but I doubt it. Snapdragon 820, hardware decoding with MX Player Pro, 4000 mAh battery.
A few minutes shy of 15.5 hours of SOT.
Let's see what you can do, kids.
You fucking idiot.
>15.5 hours
Yeah, people will totally do this shit.
I'll post my results in 12 hours, after it the topic gets culled.
Lel.
itt: some iphone users post, but the thread dies before anyone else finishes

>Name one good thing about Windows 8.
Touch and digitizer support is fantastic when compared to win 7.
Do I really need maths to be a good programmer?
Yes and no.
High school math is more than enough unless you're specifically going to work with scientific calculations.
Abso-fucking-lutely.
Not for the maths itself, but if you can't wrap your head around calculus and integral solving, you're not going to be able to solve complex programmatic problems for fucking shit.
If you can't do math don't do CS. It requires the EXACT same kind of logic processing.
Hi /G/. im looking for a good music player for my android. what does g recomend?. i dont mind if the app is paid. thanks

Does 1080p upscaled to a 4k monitor look better than 1080p on a 1080p monitor? I can't afford to build a true 4k rig, but I want a 4k monitor so I can play older games (and Wii) in 4k, and it's an integer scale of 1080p, so in theory it should scale well.
Pic related is the monitor I'm looking at, I want G-Sync too so that really limits my options.
>>57080346
same size 1080p monitor and a 4k monitor which upscaled 1080 to 4k will look the same in theory but why do you need 4k if you're gonna use 1080 most of the time? 4k is for the ppl who has a poor money/brain ratio.
I'd use 4k only if I was going to get a very very big screen. I don't recommend it if you're poor.
>>57080346
1080 upscaled to 4k looks awful, anon. i also thought that it should look perfectly sharp as its a straight 4:1 pixel mapping, but in reality it's a blurry mess for some reason.
if you can find a way to have the card rather than the monitor do the upscaling then it might be ok though.
>the 4k meme
normies pls go
Is it obsolete?
What tasks do you have set up?
I used to use it extensively, but mainly for battery saving things. But I can't help but wonder if the act of running a task to save battery ends up as a wash.
What you think
>Sends WOL packets to turn my computer on int he morning
>Flashes the flash when I get a text
>Plays/pauses when the headphones are plugged in
I like the idea of it and I'm glad it exists but it's just my phone and I don't need it to do that many thing
What I used mine for
>Turn off cellular data when connected to wifi for more than 5 minutes
>open music app when headphones plugged in
>Send my ex a picture of my dick every time I like something on Instagram
I feel like I'm missing out though, it has so much potential
>>57080274
>ends up as a wash
It absolutely can end up as a wash if you are irresponsible with how you set up your tasks.
>someone fork your project
W-what should I do now /g/!?
>>57080229
Sue them.
ask if they need help
>>57080229
Give up. You have been superseded.
What's the best tech for recording/broadcasting akin to a police body cam? I'm thinking of something that can be used for personal safety, the kind of "I am now recording and uploading this to the cloud as we speak" sort of thing?
Is there a lanyard for wearing your phone like a body cam?
I'm thinking of both personal safety and "monitoring" a crowd without holding up my phone.
>>57080115
You want to carry a bodycam on you at all times?
>>57080115
Wiretapping is a felony. Just carry a piece with you like a normal human being.
Not a psycho, just thinking of practical matters in case of weird circumstances.
Why was Java able to become dominant while it was still considered the most universally hated and despised programming language?
because blueray
>>57080043
easy multiplatform compatibility since it runs through an easy-to-install VM
Java started out as a simpler version of C++, but it is still too complex; there are too many "sharp edges". Here are a few of the things that bug me and many of my students (all are small things, most not unique to Java, but they still add up to a lot of unnecessary complexity):
Primitive types are not classes and primitive operations are not methods. Java insists that operators work only on primitive types and methods work only on objects. Well, except + works on Strings. But other than that, you must use methods to work on objects. For example, you use .equals to compare two objects for equality. Well, except you use == to compare objects to nil. This also means Java needs wrapper classes, since it needs a place to define operations on types like integers and characters. So if you want to get a string representation of anything, you send it a toString message with no arguments. For example, to convert a variable x to a string, you do x.toString(). Except if it's a primitive type, then you have to use the static toString method in the corresponding wrapper class, eg, Double.toString(x). Each primitive type has a corresponding wrapper class with the same name, but capitalised. Except for int and char, whose wrapper classes are called Integer and Character, for no good reason I can think of.
Is there a way i can reuse this laptop screen?
cum on it
>>57080011
You can try to shove it up your ass. Other than that they'res not much else you can do.
>20th birthday of KDE
>still shitty
Wtf I hate kde now
>feels lighter and more responsive than even xfce
Plasma is fucking awesome.

>loonix is only useful for ricing and posting on desktop threads
shocking
Why haven't any countries banned proprietary software yet?
It could be classified as a form of terrorism against the public
>>57079904
This.
Why would you hide your source code if you have nothing to hide
>>57079904
Why haven't any countries rounded you communist weebs in gas chambers yet?
It could be classified as a form of terrorism against the public
>>57079947
Umm, no it couldn't
Whereas proprietary software poses a clear and present danger to society
