gah
Why are you not using lumina, the best DE in the world /g/? also BSD General. What do you love and hate bout licucks nerdy cousin?
What is the point in using this OS?Distro whatever it is
>>57934832
try it out and you will hopefully see the difference. Most noticeable is that its lighter and faster than most linuxdistros. Also much more unix like compared to lunix.
btw: I mainly run linux, I know both worlds.
>Why are you not using lumina
Because I use cwm.
I bought an ASUS ROG STRiX GTX 1070 OC. Am I cucked? I keep hearing bad stuff about ASUS.
>>57934814
>keep hearing bad stuff about Ashit
>buy their card anyway
>D-d-did I do good, /g/?
Go fuck yourself, then fuck off back to /v/.
>>57934870
Im hearing bad stuff AFTER i bought the GPU. You think I'd buy it if I knew?
>>57934941
Dude Fuck off with these did I do good posts? Did you get it for like 50% it's retail price? If no then you didn't do good.
If you had got it for 50$ bucks then made this thread, that I could understand.
The card is fine. I have the same thing. No go play minecraft
/g/, I'm looking for speakers for my dad for Christmas.
My budget is around $400-500 but if I don't need to go that high then that would be better.
Any suggestions?

Is it just me or is Ubuntu 16.04 really unstable?
Story time
>I had for awhile been using Manjaro.
>I used it because I thought it was an interesting distro and I only ever stopped using it because it had shoddy printer support
>When I installed Ubuntu I upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04 for the sake of it
>Now running Ubuntu 16.04 I am able to install all my printers with relative ease but I found that web-browsing on Firefox was incredibly unstable. Firefox on Manjaro was somehow better configured.
>Then I found that upon installing xfce on Ubuntu that it was prone to glitchiness. That was odd, I thought. It worked but there would be some issues that I wouldn't have seen on Manjaro.
>I then decided to try KDE on Ubuntu, just to see what had changed. The install progress of KDE broke the package manager. I was not using third-party repositories and yet it was so unstable.
>Meanwhile on another computer I found that Lubuntu was both stable and able to work with deb files
Why is it that other distros seem to be more stable than Ubuntu?
Why are you using the ancient version of Ubuntu?
The LTS version of Ubuntu is for running servers, not web browsing on Firefox or installing other DEs.
>>57934654
Here's what I don't understand though: the latest version of Lubuntu is based on Ubuntu Xenial Xerus and is so much more stable than it. What gives?
>>57934713
Ancient software is more stable.
>Yes goy, you want to play the newest DX12 games, don't you?

I fell for the refurbished Lenovo y50 touch meme and now I'm fucking screwed this piece of shit just died on me right before finals are starting someone kill my retarded ass please
What brands of laptop won't fuck me just so I know where to look when I'm able to replace this garbage. So far Dell, Asus, and now Lenovo have let me down
>What brands of laptop won't fuck me
Apple
They're overpriced, limited for customization, and can't game, but fuck are they stable. They're perfect for students who write papers.
We have a macbook air from 2011 in our office with 4gb of ram that we give out as a loaner when other user's laptops die. Most people ask us if it's the new one and can't even tell that it's got shit hardware because everything is optimized and minimalist.

poor kitty
>He fell for the refurbished Lenovo y50 touch meme
>Core2Duo Macbooks are more expensive than 2nd gen i5 used Thinkpads
Explain this.
dude apple lmao
>>57934461
apple cucks think their shitold macbooks don't lose value
that's partially true
they don't lose value because there's this myth that they don't lose value so they just resell with high value
in fact they are old shit and slow compared to a new device
but applefags don't listen
>new laptops cost the same as they did 5 years ago with the same specs
STOP
Can we trust this man?

He means well, but his opinions often seem too emotional to me.

Will their ever be hobbyist computers for children again?
any pc with linux
I don't think hobbyist computers will ever get popular in any age range, let alone children. Kids just want to play their games and watch youtube videos without any fuzz. Most of them don't even know what binary is. Even old people are like that now. My father wants his computer to "just work" without putting any work in. But it's not like he uses his PC for critical jobs that would drive him into bankruptcy, he just watches movies and plays racing games.
>>57934320
I actually agree with this. Linux is a good ecosystem to experiment with.

awesomewm
>>57934393
>awesome's tiling is shit
No, it isn't. It has about a dozen different configurations. You an also increase and decrease the amount of columns both master and non-master windows have using a simple keyboard shortcut.
If that doesn't satisfy you there are many add-ons you can install that add more tiling configurations (lain comes to mind) OR you can write your own if you'd like because LUA is easy.
