Explain this.

apple cucks think their shitold macbooks don't lose value
that's partially true
they don't lose value because there's this myth that they don't lose value so they just resell with high value

in fact they are old shit and slow compared to a new device
but applefags don't listen

Those MacBooks perform better. Its like putting an SSD in an old machine, that is the difference between a cuo2duo MacBook and a TwinkPad.

The older MacBooks under anything before Lion ran the best. Snow Leopard is probably the best operating system ever.

Supply and demand. People want Macs, even used ones, but nobody actually wants to buy your shitty ThinkMemes.
>>
>>57934964
This image is over a year or two old. The memebook still costs that much for Core 2 Duo, and $300 gets you much more for a real laptop.

TL;DR, mactoddlers are brainless gullible retards, and are soon parted from their money, and they'll even brag about Apple's profit margin a.k.a. how hard they got ripped off.
>>
>>57934461
Thinkpads are bought in large volumes to corporations, and when they are retired they're sold for bottom dollar on the second hand market.

>>57935877
Don't own a rolex or anything but am a watch fag and do collect. I agree with the memebook stuff but for rolex watches or any good watch in general, the reason it holds value is because it is still a really nice watch. It looks nice, it has good movement inside, it is reliable and will last you potentially your whole life. It's also a good fallback, you can sell it for a lot anytime; they don't depreciate heavily. Whereas computers get slow and old over time, a watch isn't going to tick any slower, and maintenance can always clean/fix it but with an old laptop, there's only so much you can do before new shit that's better overtakes it.
>>
>>57935992

>>
>>57934900
The hardware is crap and the OS is horribly inefficient. Look up Phoronix's Linux v OSX benchmarks. OSX gets curbstomped. Slow OS that can't take full advantage of the slow hardware somehow adds up to performing better? Please tell me this isn't what mactoddlers actually believe.

That's okay though. I had a hard time accepting the gift literally yesterday. First apple product ever. Didn't pay for it. I was much more impressed than I had planned to me. The trackpad or at least the built in gestures are fluid, snappy and easy to learn across most apps.

Apart from the shit tier screen I really don't have many issues with this product. The company still doesn't earn an ounce of respect for the bloated price or locked ecosystem though.

But as a professional I can't just outright deny or claim otherwise that it isn't a well designed product. I'll give more opinions after a month or so of bogging it down and it not being a brand new system.

Aside from not being optimized to game, though. They destroy the competition hands down.

I'm not saying buy it. Please don't. Apple doesn't deserve the money. But the products they develop are so closed off that they have the ability to engineer at a much higher level. The out of the box experience is much more refined.

Sure, your little 99 Honda civic can beat Lamborghinis on the DRAG STRIP with raw power. But it can't compete on the track without serious modification and work done by a top tier professional. And unless you dump the same amount of money into it, it'll never have all of the features and comfortability that a Lamborghini has. You'll never have the dashboard, the heated race seats, the sound quality(disregard old diablos sounding like shit). And most of all even if you did spend the money on all of that, you'll still never get the respect and stares and girls wanting to gobble your dick.

All you'll have in the back of your mind is
>T. Mactoddler
>My superior GTX 1080 32gb ram 6850k arch distribution is so much better because it performs better in video games and costs less money

As stated before, we all know they're not good for gaming. That's not the point of a MacBook. Macs are designed to run macOS. It held its own against windows except for graphics benchmarks which is cool. Its not made to render games and graphics real time. Its made to crunch numbers and export media.

>>57937366
That's good for you and your help desk monkeys. I am an administrator at a local hospital as well as an instructor for freshmen AP programing courses. I've been a self made professional for almost a decade now. Snd just like yourself were all entitled to opinions.

Apple is an evil company who deserves nothing, but they do make excellent products. They're overpriced and you're paying a premium for premium, but that's the individuals choice. My first car was a Volkswagen GTI that cost me over 550$ just for brakes and rotors and my first big purchase was a 60,000 Audi.

You pay for what you like. I didn't buy the macbook air it was given to me. That's cool. I sold my computer's last December and have been living off my mobile and work notebook.

>Denying an excellent analogy based on his preferences.

Apple, although recently having made some stupid decisions regarding the standardization of ports and connectors, has a goal to make all of their devices seemless. Each device is made to a much higher standard than PC components. It's software is made and developed for the strict hardware requirements that Macs follow. They operate as good if not better for most applications on significantly less hardware. While it might lack raw power in a straight line, lamborghoni can and will roast most cars around a track.

The simple fact of the matter is, the only cars that can compete with lamborghini are other strict, closed off cats like Ferrari, BMW, Bentley, etc. And custom built computers and store bought ibuypowers are nothing different than throwing shit together in an S14 chassis or a Z body, etc... And claiming to have a Lamborghini.

It's not the case.
>>
>>57938162
It is not an excellent analogy by any means.

A better one would be Gucci (or any other "designer" handbag) vs a generic Guess. Debatable over which one looks better, both preform the same exact function, one is priced wayyy higher. Why? Because dumb broads see them as a status symbol. Literally marketing is the only reason. Your typical Apple buyer is just like that dumb woman who throws her money away on overpriced designer shit.

I have to both agree and disagree with you. I've purchase plenty of guess brand clothing between peacoats and jackets to laptop bags and t shirts.

When it comes to clothes, generally there isn't a major difference in quality. Most of the time the quality lies in how refined the fabrics are and how good the stitching is. There are far many more variables when relating to computers.

The MacBook takes low hardware specifications and optimizes them to such a degree that it performs similarly to how higher powered PC's performed. Just like how until somewhat recently iPhones were using 512mb of RAM and androids has 2-4gb. Even my android now has 6gb of DDR4 spec ram.

Wowee.

Please don't confuse me with an apple fanboy. I might at most be trying to justify myself by using a MacBook. I'm a religiously anti apple consumer who came across a free MacBook air and decided to give it a shot because he didn't have a PC. I am just trying to give credit where it's due.

Its an overpriced device generally for people who don't want to deal with any hassles or want to have a status symbol. But what's talked about so little is its efficiency and it's power user tools. It just offers a lot that I didn't expect until I played with it for a few hours last night.

It's not as bad as I thought it would have been and even though it's as symbol as shit to use, it feels just like arch with a few key bind changes.

Still made by a shitty company and overpriced though.

Macos is faster. Just like iPhone and Android. Specs font matter, their os is just faster

>MacBook takes low hardware specifications and optimizes them to such a degree that it performs similarly to how higher powered PC's performed

Fine, but the problem with that is if you decide to use software that hasn't been optimized by Apple for the macos, then I guess you're shit out of luck. Being contained to such a specific ecosystem isn't a good thing imo

Yeah, that certainly does suck. And I said that as well earlier. It's one of the reasons why I don't give them money. But for my current usage which is basic Normie's usage. Large email server, media "consumption", word processing and data management, it works just fine.

It's unfortunate to see for instance a fully loaded 4,900$ laptop not be able to run mafia 2 at a decent frame rate even on mid low settings. But there's something to be said about the idiot to buys a laptop that expensive knowing it's not gonna run good, either. Buy for your use case. I'm positive the that 4,900$ MacBook is going to handle 4k video rendering and export better than most gaming built desktops.

Anyways. I've continued to spew for long enough. All said and done, I was simply impressed with the options I was given inside of MacOS and the fluidity and snappiness of a MacBook air with such low specs. Pleasantly surprised.

I commandeered my GFs 2007 macbook two years ago for shitposting, SSH into my server and some other shit and it's bretty gud.

Battery is gone though and the only replacement I could find that wasn't £5 and obviously fake lasts like 45min top. Some software refuses to run because it's stuck on 10.7.5. Even chrome refuses to update since a few months ago. Also some larger websites absolutely ruins the CPU which sucks but then it is almost 10 years old. Has a Hitachi hard drive with 35k power on hours and 0 reallocated sectors. Bretty gud.

What I'm using it for could be done by any £150 laptop though.

Did you tell them theirs is virtually worthless now that the new one is out or were they aware of its resale value? Ive not had opportunities like that in a while and I'm definitely not jelly.

Nowadays with SSDs low latency and new generations of ULV cpus 'fluidity and snappiness' is expected, apart from heavy usage like video/photo editing or any sort of number crunching I have used a meme atom z8500 for a while and for light use it was almost as snappy as my i5 in general use. I also own a machine with a celeron 1007u and it's a great little box running wangblows in my livingroom for plex, Spotify, youtube etc. Everything opens up instantly just like on my desktop.

Tldr lowend shit is more than decent enough for light use, it's not a 'mac thing'.

Low end shit is good enough for light use if you install 4 programs on it and never use anything but those programs. But daily usage is almost guaranteed to bog down any windows or Android machine.

(I do not now or ever will use an iPhone).

My cousins MacBook pro, although it's a significantly more powerful device, has been running strong with no sign of slowly down for over 16 months now. My p50 started to slow down within a month in terms of being snappy with opening browsers and boot up and stuff. Generally I just have things like steam and skype on startup but even those take their toll on Windows machines.

Either put Snow Leopard on it or hack on Mountain Lion, Lion was a garbage OS

And you can find plastic-case C2D MacBooks for $50 on eBay now easily; the market has finally dropped out a bit.

I find it funny because core2duo thinkpad with riced linux would perform much better for 1/20 of price
