I installed linux mint for my grandmother that was sick of Windows. She tells me that it freezes on her at random intervals, and doing different things. Managing pictures, internet shopping, playing flash games, etc. Could this be a problem with xorg?
Details in pic related.

i used to have crashes, it just stopped one day. i thought it could have been from my gpu overheating, and i may have replaced the thermal paste but i don't remember. regardless its not a problem so maybe try this

don't even start this, these autists will have you distro hopping all month just to find out that linux mint is still the best and most user friendly

Peppermint OS 7 doesn't have this problem

how do you know its not a hardware problem

Why is your grandmother playing flash games?

Also check if it's a RAM problem by running memtest overnight.

I don't, but anecdotally I was having the very same issues last time I tried running Mint for any duration
>>
>>57955837
the only issue with mint is their repo
make sure you only get the 1s
>>
>>57956046
ive been using linux mint myself for the past 2 weeks and it hasn't crashed or froze once. i used to have the problem though too on every operating system except windows, even freebsd, but like ive mentioned i don't know what fixed it. try updating the system with sudo apt-get update and then sudo apt-get upgrade and just rebooting?

passes the time until death

couldn't hurt, I was never able to pinpoint the exact cause of my freezing either

Cinnamon doesn't run that great for me on on my 4 gig ram machine. Although KDE and GNOME run flawlessly. Have you tried to use a different DE?
