And then when your friends ask for tech help tell them it's too high-level and full of bloat for you.

Learning C# for a month.

I wonder what was your first "serious" application you have build?

I have ideas on my own, but I wonder what are other "milestone" applications. Or in general what are your stories of progress...

I've created dumb calculator at first week learning, that was fun. What should I be able to do after a month?

My first serious project was a rest api for a medium website and my first "serious" project was a student grading system plus a bunch of questions why x was made like that.

You've got things the other way around here. It's not conceptually OOP at all. It's similar to how C++ compiles method calls (which are not particularly OOP either if they're not virtual and don't use encapsulation), but in no way, shape or form does that make that code object-oriented.

I use a raspi as a "home server" to host mumble and my portfolio, what do you use all this power for that makes it worth that amount of money?
>>
>>58002881
Biggest reason if I'm honest is that I wanted a big quality project, and toy. Mass storage. Enterprise grade gear that won't die on me. It holds all of my personal and business data, as well as customer backups. It runs a lot of services which otherwise would require less efficient machines to be running around the clock to offer them. Within 2 years I'm looking to be earning fairly good money with some new things going into the rack to pay off it's power costs.

I don't drive fancy cars, or take expensive holidays. I just enjoy good quality tech :).
>>
>>58002968
desu even though I'm not really a high end hardware guy if I had the money to buy something like that I probably would - what services do you provide?

Hey /g/, what's the best e-reader on the market?

I've currently got a 3rd-gen Kindle but would prefer something with a backlight and a device that can read epub natively so I don't have to use Calibre to butcher epubs into mobi format.

Ideally I'd like to spend <$100 if it's possible.

I have the non-4G version of this phone. Werks 4 me.

>>58002779
why would I upgrade a perfectly functional device?
>>
>>58002779
I'm pretty cheap when it comes to phones. It was a good budget phone 2 years ago and it still performs fine. The battery life is still superb. The screen quality is great for its range with like 320 ppi at 4.5" screen and nice accurate colors and lighting. The camera is its only weak point but it suffices.

Mainly I just love having a small phone I can use one handed. Maybe I'll look into a Sony Xperia X compact.

The more experienced the engineer, the more he is likely to use vim/emacs.
All the greatest software in the world has been written in emacs/vim.

That's because smart people are actually programming and being productive, not
being code monkeys who know how to press the autocomplete hot key.

Prove me wrong. Are you a code monkey, anon?

There needs to be a study of emac/vim users vs ide users to determine who's more productive once and for all.

There's your problem, OP. You're in search of perfection.

Perfection is not only boring, but it lacks any sense of character or for that fucking matter, moral fiber.

I'd rather use Linux, than lack moral fiber, OP.

I built a budget rig from my cannibalized previous desktop. I bought a new case, more ram, video card (RX 480 8gb), new ssd, and two hard drives for raid. I'm still using my previous motherboard and processor (FX 6300).

FX 6300
RX 480 8GB XFX GTR
16GB DDR3/1866 Mhz
MX300 1TB (OS)

WD BLACK 2 x 2TB, RAID 0
WD BLACK 750GB
MOBA- 760G, M-ATX
Monitor- 1080p, 60hz

My question is, how badly will the FX 6300 bottleneck my RX 480 if at all?

I've been looking for benchmarks or videos but because of the age of the FX series I'm only really getting results on the 390 GPU.
Should I try to sell my processor and get a 8350? I just need games to run at 50-60 FPS on 1080p.

Bonus round: Is the Blue Yeti a meme? I was messing with one at a Best Buy and the knobs feel like cheap garbage.

bump

Not really, it all depends on the type of software in this case.

If there's a bottleneck, upgrading to a bigger bulldozer is fairly cheap, or just go with Zen.
